James Dean Bradfield walked in for a pint when my band was doing a gig in Cardiff many years ago. Kinda focuses the mind when things like that happen...

Probably the only song about the role of the International Brigade in the Spanish civil war to hit No.1.

I chatted to the drummer Sean Moore around Christmas time in 2020! Great bloke. Sadly the rhythm guitarist Richey Edwards disappeared in early 1995 and hasn't been seen since. I never mentioned Richey when talking to Sean as it would be disrespectful. I am a HUGE fan of the band and have seen them live 18 times to date. I also have signed stuff from them as I know his mother, and I once chatted to Nick Jones's (bassist) mother, sadly she has now passed away.
An amazing number one from 1998.

A great song. Michael mentioned a few other good ones. I would also recommend another by them called A Design for Life.

This is the song that truly got me into music as a youngster. Not everything is about love and dancing.🥰🥰🥰 (Although, somtimes it should be)

Brilliant - one of my favourite bands. I've been listening to them since their first album and I think they're underrated. One of their original members went missing in 1995 and was never found - declared dead in 2008. They have so many good songs - Motorcycle Emptiness, Suicide is Painless (theme from a TV show called MASH), but probably their best known song is 'A design for life' .... we don't talk about love, we only want to get drunk 😀

They have so many great songs. Motorcycle Emptiness & A Design For Life are their other classic songs from the 90s but they have many other great songs. They are a great live band also so it’s well worth checking live song versions too.
Even their b-sides are really great. The b-side “Prologue to history” for this single is fantastic and I would highly recommend giving it a listen.
By far my favorite band ❤

Their debut album was released in 1992 which was called Generation Terrorist. A couple of singles released from that album were called Slash ' n Burn and Motorcycle Emptiness.
They are worth a listen 🎶
Keep up the good work you are doing great reactions. Best wishes .

Well done. Even in your tender years you managed to understand the depth of the lyrics. Pity more people didn’t when they were around !!!!

A few years before this song the lead guitarist disappeared just before they embarked on a tour to America. They strongly suspect he committed suicide by jumping off a notorious suicide bridge and his body was washed out to sea but there still remains a theory that he vanished by his own accord and began a new life somewhere. To this day no one knows for certain

The Manics were a very political band singing about social injustice and the forthcoming discord in society

That was a delightful appreciation, rather than a 'reaction'... 1998, bugger I am really old. Think it was about the Spanish civil war and Welsh miners joining up with the solidarity movement. 'If you can shoot rabbits, then you can shoot fascists'. Besos. x
