  • In this video we remove the dashboard from my 1986 Nissan 300zx! After taking out all the trim pieces like stereo/climate control combo, glove box, and gauge cluster, the dash comes out quite quickly!

    The two clips for the glove box need to be squeezed with needle nose pliers where the body harness piece goes into the glove box side female connecter. You can't see the compression part very well but it's a small square tab that has to be pressed.

      BTW, You didn't need to take the cluster and all that apart to pull the dash. It's Much easier to swap it when it's out of the car.

    Thanks for the video, because I think I needed to replace my wiring harness bc I think they’re burnt and nothing works, now I know it’s not that big of a hassle to remove the dash, thx.

      Is yours a digital dash? If so the power supply is known to break and then the dash won't work

    I'm glad I have a perfect dash in my 86, but it has been garaged in a climate controlled environment since new. It has just over 100k but babied. Owned for 30yrs.

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a few websites depending on what you're looking for. Check out the resources tab on my website thezgarage.net for a list of new parts websites. If you're looking for things like interior bits and stuff that's not really engine related, used may be your only option so you'll will have to find someone with a parts car

    I am trying to get the main dash gauge cluster back in and something is stopping me and I can’t tell what, did you have any issues with the main harness getting in the way?

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correctly you kind of have to put it in at an angle. As long as everything is plugged in, just angle it downward a bit to get the bottom past the steering column and then it should go in

  • @christopherportillo1758
    @christopherportillo1758 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    haha how did you end up putting back the speedometer cable? I put back all of the wiring harness but the speedometer didn’t exactly went through and my speedometer isn’t working😂 is there another way to put it through because it’s kinda a pain to adjust it so it can go through

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best way is to reach up from under the dash and endure its plugged in all the way. It's a bit of a tight squeeze so take your time and work your hand up to the cluster

    Tint all your windows bro, with Ceramic Tint. On this car, stay on the medium shade. Windshield gets done light 50%. That'll solve your overheating, warping & fading interior issues.

    you know I have a few things you can have I have a steering wheel that's in pretty good shape same color it's got the stereo controls on it I'm not using I have the piece that goes in the hatch that pulls across and covers up the inside of the trunk same color I have the windshield squirter motors still installed in my car but I would take them out and give them to you I've already removed the bottle but I still have it but I don't use it I have lots of things that I have deleted and taken off the car I've got milk crates full of stuff but I'm not an asshole I would probably give you some things if you need it from factory fuel pressure regulators to clutch dampeners to bracket and bolts and clips all kinds of weird little things that he would not expect someone to have I've had four of these cars like I say I need a few more pieces to put my door panels back together my interior is the same color as yours currently I have the door panels off cuz I've been fixing my driver side window motor and doing some work on my speaker wiring and a few other things but I was missing some clips and I had to fix my door handle on the driver side but both of my door panels are currently off and they're not quite as good as shape as yours so I'm fixing to do something with that and put them back on but my main question this time is I just fixed my heat and repair the blower motor fan the blade was broke but I can't figure out where the little black hose goes that comes off of the bottom of the blower motor when I bolted the blower motor back in the hose is just kind of in there and I don't know where to plug it back to when I pull it out I didn't see where it came loose from it just kind of popped out and now when I turn my heat on I can feel cool air coming from one little spot down there but my heat works great other than that 😂 I currently have a very very short shifter that I made myself I haven't seen anyone's shifter as short as mine then I have a t handle shift knob well not really a knob like I said it's a t damn I want to post pictures but I think I like your shift handles and stickers do you have any stickers man I want to represent for you we need to get in touch like I said I've got some things you can have if you're interested in my car is a 86 with the same color interior as yours I've even got the tan leather factory piece that the t-top goes in but I've only got one of those

      I need some good rear calipers like ASAP those are the hardest calipers I've ever tried to rebuild I've got rebuild kits for two of them and I still haven't figured it all the way out I do motor work and transmission work I've built a lot of cars from the ground up but these damn calibers are driving me crazy I could probably do it but I just got irritated when I was messing with them I'm going to give it another try today maybe you have to have some good snap ring pliers to build the rear calipers because if the emergency brake being included in with the caliper I meant to add this to my first message but I also need a turbo exhaust manifold
