    As much as I like all these extras, my take away from all this is there's a lot more to break. If they had kept the system as long as Toyota did with their Tundra nobody would question reliability.
    My biggest wish is for one day one of the big three gives Toyota a run for their reputation as far as longevity. Because as each automaker discontinues sedans they are standing on one leg for survival. If they falter like engine blocks cracking or transmission fails at 50k it'll be over. Let me end on a positive note.
    Ram with this lineup has certainly made a HUGE leap in overall aesthetics on par with any Lexus or Mercedes. I wish them well on the reliability part and hope they learn from their past.
    Go Ram.

      Why does anyone want to give Toyota a chance at anything? Toyota is a foreign company and yes, the money doesn’t come to our communities. Also, if Toyota wants in the market, they would. They can’t keep up with the American made trucks.

    • @corystansbury
      @corystansbury 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you extrapolate the torque curve based on the previous truck, the Cummins will effectively have constant HP across the spread of each gear. More gears really won't give more capability in this instance. Hopefully the larger gear faces permitted by having fewer speeds will allow for reduced torque management.

    • @alexmaclean1
      @alexmaclean1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From a marketing point, probably, but realistically, with the massive amount of torque this engine has, it probably doesn't make as much difference as it would in a light duty truck. It will just idle along down the highway on 6th gear anyway.

    • @WeatherxCalipha
      @WeatherxCalipha 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would the 2500 need a fully-powered Cummins? It's only rated to tow a little over half the weight of the 3500. Best in class for a 3/4 ton, yes but it doesn't need all that torque.

    • @abramar123
      @abramar123 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2500's towing and payload are limited by it having a coilover rather than leafspring suspension. No point in putting extra power in it, if the limiting factor is the suspension. 370hp and 850lbft is more than enough for the 2500.

    • @andrewt4427
      @andrewt4427 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why wouldnt you offer the High output in the 2500, Ford and GM use the same engines and transmission in both their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Plus the Ram 2500 has air ride rear as well so suspension isnt the issue.

    Rod, chief engineer. You have failed us Ram owners in a couple ways. I really wish you’d listen to people like myself that drive many loaded miles.
    Even though your statement is that we get 1,000 lbs torque in 1st gear, I’ll disagree. It is completely torque managed and it lessens the torque significantly.
    2nd. You have failed us with the exhaust brake. Normal operation, the exhaust brake takes too long to engage when downshifting. Other fail is that the exhaust brake doesn’t work in 1st gear or in 4x4.
    If you’ve talked to propels like myself, you’d find out that we need an exhaust brake to keep the truck and load slow on steep and windy grades. As I told people before, I’ve had a 99 Ford F-350 with the 7.3 liter. I installed an aftermarket Banks exhaust brake and that combo did the trick. I could haul 30,000lbs down a 25% grade and keep the load 10-15mph without braking!
    We know you can make updates in our trucks, so please do so!

    All these fancy improvements and still the most important thing hasn’t been touched, how about allowing the option for an owner to do a manual regen? All or most of these trucks will leave you stranded or in limp mode then an expensive cleaning of the DFF, altleast ford did it right and allows the consumer to perform a manual regeneration instead of paying a shop to perform it

    MRTRUCK. I finish this video a couple hours ago. And I was just now thinking to myself 1000 foot pounds of torque in first gear! It would be nice to know if that’s available in the low range and 4 x 4 LOL! Not only that I have a video idea for you if you’ve not thought about it so far. It would be nice if you guys did a drag race towing the same weight side by side. Please don’t do one at a time unless you don’t have 2 trailers and etc. and! It would be nice if you did a drag race same weight in 4x4 high and low. Then of course. Re do the gauntlet side by side. Also. I really really miss it when you guys used to include the full 7 to 10 minutes going up and down the mountain I really absolutely miss the old days why don’t you guys do that anymore? Is it because people were just complaining and being bunch of bitches! Well guess what if they don’t like it they can skip the damn part Jesus people are so lazy nowadays! Anyways I really really want to see proof of that 1000 foot pounds of torque at the fly wheel v.s. 930fpot at the flywheel going up the hill side by side. And drag racing empty and loaded.
