@@jameljeanjacques8511 in my experience, a lot of bagwork helps. When you learn how to maximize leverage use for power, you can basically do fast punches with good leverage control to reduce power. When you practice that exact motion enough, you have developed slow motion playback with it.
Honestly. He's in complete control. You can tell he understands the pace and responds accordingly... No ego, no anger, no lack of discipline... Just straight technique and aggression with tremendous pressure and control... He would be great for advanced MMA practitioners. 💪🏾🥋

My pro coach fights/spars like this and you described exactly why it’s hard to go against: I’ve found success in disrupting their timing…catch em as they’re stepping in to punch/ also high volume with keeping their hands busy…and circling…I’ve managed to survive rounds with minimal damage
Exactly, counter’s/angles/ high voulume( hands and feet) in concordance with movement are go-to techniques/ strategies in such an context when handling pressure fighters( Saenchai as an example comes to mind) good strategies when sparring heavier/ different/ higher weight classes as well if one finds oneself as the smaller/ lighter opponent 👍🏻
I feed em the ol uppercut hook or rear teep as they're coming in. Step out and a lead cross/jab if I need to escape. Catchin angles and circling definitely annoys them but man gotta work that cardio to keep doing that every round.
You are just the best. I picked up so many things from you that I am using in sparring and getting complimented on by my training partners. Just to name a few the bodyhook low kick is my fav combo, also doubling up the leg kick and stepping outside for the leg kick are constantly working for me. Thanks a lot!
I went with my coach last night after practice and he very much has this kind of style. Crazy pressure and output. He also has a fight in a week so he is kinda in the zone. But man I feel like I learned so much. Definitely hope I’ll get the opportunity to go with him again tomorrow haha
On other good approach is to stay planted, use more blocking parry’s, checks. And in between his strikes unload power shots. Fighters like this like when you back up, they know you’re getting more tired than them. If you stay in the pocket and throw back and they realize you can’t be bullied the pressure drops off and they start to get more tired. Just what I’ve seen.
True, Gabriel Varga had a video where he explained, stay planted and trade 2 or 3 times, if you can make sure they respect your power and you can make them pay for heavy pressure they'll back off

if he's close you can neutralize his power by practicing teeps, as clinch work and sweeps to discourage aggression the clinch is very important because the closer you can get his head to your face the higher the probability of being able to kiss him in the lips
Jeff I have a question…when dealing with an opponent that is in your face with strikes is it wise to take that opponent to the ground to grapple? I guess it would depend on skill level of grappling. Just curious with your thoughts. Thank you 😊 🙌
@@greysondevries4251 Clinches are a good way to relieve pressure. Just make sure you can defend possible Judo or wrestling takedowns, Muay Thai Striking knees and elbows and the dreaded Liver blow 😂. It all depends on your opponent and your fight IQ. If you can equally dish the damage in a clinch, all the better... I'm no pro, but watching pros and a little sparring taught me that much.
He's got your number when it comes to pure boxing, but man when you go muay thai....you make him pay for that constant attempt at pressure. Those trips were gorgeous too!
Great job. You could try taking the step right. Right foot first. In and to the right. This will force him to turn into your check left hook or cross. Food for thought

hey Alex! a lot of it is just putting in the time, training the eyes and reflexes, and most of all, more technical drilling so you can react instinctually!

If I may I'd recommend you utilize more of distance kicks instead of just the teep kick you can always shove someone back using a push kick also known as a gastrizan or a fully chambered sidekick Joe Lewis style of course it's easy to coach on the sidelines instead of being in the ring.

it really depends on you ! its preference bro! just because you switch to MMA doesn't mean you stop training Muay Thai though! I would wait until you feel very comfortable with your Muay Thai first though
Has anyone sprained a toe here? How much time did it take for it to heal? I sprained mine on monday, someone checked my kick and i hit his knee 🤦🏻♂️ its still swollen, im resting, took x rays and nothing is broken.
Dayum! He’s ice cold and scary. But you definitely found repeated success with that low kick combo and your balance against his trips is on point, whereas he had a tough time against yours. A Very tough scout for sure, but maybe same time counters?? Which is scary against a guy like that. Hard to throw when he’s so good a keeping a fighter on their back foot. Either way you were dealing out your own brand of scariness!
Jeff, if I wear earplugs when sparring will that prevent ear damage? I’m not looking to be pro, just spar. I’ve only sparred at 25% and I’m sure the punches to the ear are what caused the perforated eardrums. Don’t want to lose my hearing

Had my first sparring session and man I don't commit to my punches, kicks and combinations properly and I am looking away scared of punches sometimes and I am dropping my damn left hand all the time. I ate so many punches including an overhand left that fucked me up. I also got superman punched... How can I learn to stop looking away, it makes it harder for me and more dangerous

He’s always like cat which is playing with its pray but never overtop power. Every round is a tuff but instructive one. He’s always in your face with menacing smile😈🤣

Pressure fighters with good defense are tough in sparring; you spend more energy getting away from them than they do moving forward and they don't respect your attacks because you aren't striking hard. Feels bad man.
Hey Jeff My gym is 55 mins away, and I spent almost 1hr 50 mins just for traveling for a 2hr class. Should I find another alternative or is it worth it?
No boxing or wrestling gym near your hometown? When I have been younger, I went once a week to a stickfighting/mma gym far away and trained 2-3 times in the local boxing and judo club
depends on how seriously you take training and if there is an another alternative!! maybe you have a friend you can train with at home to get your drilling and technical training in and do your sparring and more live scenarios at the gym!

Also I've realized that I have emotional problems.
I had this previous coworker show up to "fight me," and I sort of lightly slapped him in the face - with my foot - in front of everyone at Target. and invited him and at least a handful of guys (because I've watched too much Jason Statham...not really...Van Damme though ) to brawl in a garage-ull (not a real word at all) confines. Because I'm kind of from the hood. Like I've seen the death thing and had death threats and maybe an attempt or two on my personal life. Nothing extravagant. But then he was all nice to me - post foot slap. And after he left he sent me a condescending meme. pretended he would go hood mode on me again. But the meme had Ricky Gervais in it - who is a genius. So I thought that was decent. I'm getting old. And people don't actually fight anymore. Is this a dead hobby? Did I act like a Steven Seagal type? I'm really just bored I guess. Fuck

Pressure fighters with good defense are tough in sparring; you spend more energy getting away from them than they do moving forward and they don't respect your attacks because you aren't striking hard. Feels bad man.

My gym is 55 mins away, and I spent almost 1hr 50 mins just for traveling for a 2hr class. Should I find another alternative or is it worth it?

No boxing or wrestling gym near your hometown? When I have been younger, I went once a week to a stickfighting/mma gym far away and trained 2-3 times in the local boxing and judo club

depends on how seriously you take training and if there is an another alternative!! maybe you have a friend you can train with at home to get your drilling and technical training in and do your sparring and more live scenarios at the gym!
