    🥊 LEARN OVER 300+ EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUES WITH MY NEW PROGRAM: www.mmashredded.com/soloprogram

  • @MMAShredded
    @MMAShredded  3 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    For those asking if these techniques will work on Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather: If it was me fighting them, I would guess no. These are legitimate/proven counters that work against PUNCHES, but whether they will land or not all depends on how skilled your OPPONENT IS, and how skilled YOU ARE. Do I believe Sanechai or Buakaw can land these counters on the best boxers in the world? Yes I do.
    How did you guys enjoy those counters? Let me know which one was your favourite!
    And if you're looking for more ways to improve your game, don't forget to check out my 33 class program: www.mmashredded.com/soloprogram

    I've found that going straight down the centre line with a front kick (or side kick if you're flexible enough) can often go through a boxers guard.
    Admittedly this was back in my school days before MMA was a thing. I was doing *Taekwondo* and there were a gang of kids that did boxing (and everyone tried to copy boxing moves).
    I even managed once to get a head high leed leg sidekick that sent the other kid _across the deputy principles desk_ as he was loading up a right cross - he started it!
    But basically a leed leg sidekick snapped out fast can be very frustrating to a boxer, and of course there's Anderson Silva's (and JSP?) front kick knockouts.

    Instant classic! Perhaps Muay Thai, wrestling, judo counters to punch-preferrers as well?

    • @MMAShredded
      @MMAShredded  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah!! I mean I titled it "boxers", but what I really meant was countering punches. A pure boxer is going to get dominated if they don't know Muay Thai, wrestling or judo.

    I like this for opponents that use extraneous head movement. If I notice opponent is dipping head off center line with jab, I will invite them to jab and counter jab, further influencing them to feel ‘safe’ getting their head off center line. Once pattern established, I will use the lead leg to head.
    It *can* be dangerous in sparring as I’ve had someone literally knock themselves out running their head into my shin. And this was after a friendly warning about over exaggerated head movement. But. All good stuff as always, Jeff. Love it.

    Great video!
    I am noticing that this will only work because the opponents are either hesitating to enter or disengage back into kicking range.
    If they actually dragged their back leg with them while punching and got their structure into punching range, I think it would be harder to pull of.
    Then of course: you have other followups for that.
    But I still see that these counters works because his opponent are doing mistakes by opening themselves by half-entering with punches at kicking range.
    The counter for this would probably be to close in and allow the kicker to attack first, and then counter with punches .. but then this video would be named: How to counter a kicker with boxing!
    Maybe you could make a video about this? (if you haven't already?

    • @MMAShredded
      @MMAShredded  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for watching! These are def counters that work, but as for anything, if your opponent is more skilled than you, they will figure out how to anticipate/deal with your counter. And if you are more skilled, than you will figure out a way to time it so that they can't do anything about it.

    Im not a big fan of parrying either in boxing or in self defense. Parrying does have its place tho, same as icing has its place on top of a perfect cake.
    Ever see how Tyson Fury fakes the jab to create an opening ?
    Tommy Hearns & Mark Breland used to do it too, either fake the jab n follow it with a stiff jab or lead hook.
    Check out Breland vs Llyod Honeyghan, he decked Honeyghan twice with a jab.
    Deontay Wilder too uses the jab to get a reaction/parry.
    Hes looking to step in behind it with the big right hand, he either throws a dummy jab or dummy lead hook n then follows in behind it with that right hand of his.
    Either way as soon as his lead hand touches you or you it in the case of a parry you better move yer head pronto or its lights out. Ask Dominic Brazeale how I kno.
    They're all examples of exceptionally tall fighters I kno but wats the point in being exceptionally rangy if you dont use yer reach ?
    Gotta expect a tall fighter to have an educated lead hand n know how to counter a guy that parrys it.
    Andy Lee's KO of Carl Daniels springs to mind too, faked the jab n followed it with a perfect lead hook/uppercut.
    Roy Jones famously rarely used his jab but he had an excellent one & an even more excellent lead hook.
    I think it was a guy called Brannon he set up with the jab n knocked him out with the lead hook when he got him parrying the jab.
    Being KOd is a steep price to pay for trying to look pretty by habitually parrying a jab.
    I rather a fighter slipped or ducked n countered it or catch it n counter it.
    Parrying has a place but only when everything else is in place.
    Its a 5th dan black belt technique, its not to be used frivolously, theres some real bad bastards out here who love switching goons lights out.

      I was wondering what you think about Michelle Waterson ?
      Im not much of a fan of women fighting but the MMA girls are head n shoulders above female boxers & I particularly like Michelle Waterson.
      Shes very technical & she embodies a traditional martial arts attitude in "Cage Fighting" that I like.
      Shes not among the biggest in her weight class so she relies on technique & heart.

      I admit the title is deceiving, but these techniques do work against punches. With that said, whether a technique will work or not in a fight is based off the individual fighter's skill level. If your opponent is Mike Tyson, or just a fighter who is more skilled, than yes it probably won't work. If they are less or of the same skill level, they should work.

    I find it curious that people who haven't sparred much don't realise boxers are not "slow" and "heavy". It's important that you mention a lot to train timing and mobility! Your videos are concise and very helpful with much significant info.
    Boxers' legs are used only for moving around and positioning for strikes, offense and defense, therefore they do that job exceptionally good. It's the extra range of leg kicks that they are not used too.

    Quick question: How do you make sure not to put too much into the kick and accidentally knock out your partner. Specifically for the parry into the head kick.

      Train in the air slowly so you can develop control and balance. When you gain control doing your technique slowly, you’ll do it better when applying speed.

    In Thailand, there are fighters with only the style of punching, the muay thai stage role, he defeats elbows and knees with excellent shortening. I will just say All kinds of punches There are always solutions to each other. And you can see that it only works when the fight is really defeated. A lot of practice is important.

    Bro, with all due respect. If you have any idea of what a pro boxer can do to you in a real fight you would delete this video. Kind regards

    • @MMAShredded
      @MMAShredded  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are proven counters/techniques that work against punches. With that said, whether a technique will work or not in a fight is based off the individual fighter's skill level. So if your "pro boxer" is more skilled than me, they probably won't work. If they are less skilled than me, they will work. Yes the title is a little click bait and attracts ego driven comments, but no, I will not delete this video lol.

    The parry and kick works well. Mostly against boxers I just try to do lateral kicks up the middle, keep distance control and throw punches from weird angles to throw them off. Also, I like shooting under their punches as well. Honestly, most boxers are pretty easy to beat. th-cam.com/video/Z3wOMbxGvbA/w-d-xo.html

    Why not use a front kick? Is there any disadvantage using it?

    • @mathijskuipers3144
      @mathijskuipers3144 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont think you have that much room for a front kick if you parry. But it is a great counter to a jab regardless

    The success of this seems to depend on the boxer only throwing one or two obvious punches, and him being foolish enough to always attack first. Also, if you're presenting your lead leg so much it's not hard to grab it into a take-down.

    Great video asual 👍,for me the best ways stop a boxer,samkor version just smashing the arms until there dead are brilliant,oblique kicks knee stomps work best as every boxer has to plant that lead leg to land punches,obviously leg kicks body kicks like Jeff says,
