My doctor gave me a prescription for amlodipine besylate 5 mg. for very high blood pressure. After taking it for 3 weeks I started getting very dizzy and faint. I tried taking only half of the pill and this helped. My doctor has recently also put me on a Plavix generic pill, Clopidogrel 75 mg. because I recently had 2 strokes. So far it seems to be helping. Thank you for explaining all the side effects so clearly for amlodipine. I appreciate that. 🙋🙂
Your low on electrolytes. Dr Eric Berg explains this in his videos. That treats the high blood pressure. The magnesium, potassium and sodium is low and causing high blood pressure.
Please change Plavix for something else, one of the older meds is far better. Plavix stays in the system longer, several days, and makes it almost impossible to operate if emergency surgery is needed. It causes extreme bleeding risks. I know because my brother's doctor had him on it and he had a stroke with brain bleeding. The heart surgeon explained to us he could not do surgery to stop brain bleed until the Plavix was out of his system and to hope that would be in time.
I took myself off this medication, l was feeling horrible on it, l begged the doctor to lower my dose, was told no, l would have dizziness all the time, l was on 50mg. I was not functioning at all. So l slowly took myself off. I am better. Changed my Doctor. Maybe everyone can't do what l did, but thank God for being with me.
My Drs always tell me no when I request to be taking off a medication and try one that actually works better. I keep reading it's a big Pharma thing. A patient knows their body best.
I've been taking this med for about a year now, and I'm having most of these side effects. I will be weening myself OFF, and stop taking it. The sooner the Better. BIG Thanks for this information. 🙏May God Bless and Protect You and All Your Family ALWAYS and EVERYWHERE 🙏❤XOXOXO from Lois in Northeastern Indiana 😊
I have been taking amlodipine 2.5 mg twice daily for many years. I have so many of the side effects you have mentioned like the edema in my ankles and lower legs, the fatigue the hand tremors which we have yet to figure out the cause of that despite having a brain MRI and seeing a neurologist, weird rashes, fatigue, brain fog, very vivid dreams and many others you mentioned. I never thought that a medication can cause so many bad side effects and I will speak to my PCP about changing me to something else. Thank you for this very informative video. I felt like I was going crazy and didn't know the reason why but this medication could be the problem
All the medicine that block calcium have similar side effects. As soon as I started taking amlodipine I had gum disease and lost a tooth then five years another tooth was trying to come out. The best is try natural things that's what I have been doing and I have taken off it by my GP
You would do best by doing your own research. and stop depending on doctors to solve your problems, which apparently they're not doing. You've been going through this for many years? No way would I allow anyone to have that much control over my well being.
I've been taking Amlodipine for the past six years, 5mg daily. I have oedema of my lower legs, skin pigmentation, tinnitus, brain fog, and fatigue. I have decided to stop taking the medication from today, it's slowly killing me.
This was a horrible medication for with the weird rashes and red dots, weight loss, legs swelling, weakness, nausea, dizziness and on and on. Never again. Thank God I found out. Amen 🙏
I have been taking Amlodipine 10mg and could not figure out why I had all these side effects. I even brought it to my Dr's attention and was told no this medication wouldn't do that and now I run across this. Wow thank you for this info. I just decided to stop taking it about a week ago.
I got in touch with my Dr about the itching and was put through to the nurse. She told me to take anti histamine - when I checked the drug information it turned out anti histamine is contra indicated. So it wouldn't have been a good move. I found some Nettle cream that worked a treat.
10 months ago I stopped eating all carbs and noticed my blood pressure going lower. I stopped my Amlodipine and now my BP is really low. So glad I stopped and had no idea of the side effects.
Did you stop taking it cold turkey or did you get weaned off it? I'm on this right now with two other meds and I wantto get off and get a new base line.
@nannygirlkc I am glad that you're foing much better !! 👍👍But,not eating carbs at all is very bad for your health ,especially for your heart disease ,you should eat complex carbohydrate foods ! 💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
I’m very sad that I have experienced several of these side effects and NOT ONE of my many doctors have figured this out. I have been back and forth to the dermatologist with constant symptoms that really interrupt the quality of my life. Currently, I have been referred to an electro physiological specialist for tacky/brady symptoms! Talking surgery instead of medication adjustments first. This really sucks bad. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain these weird side affects. I have experienced three that has reduced my quality of life significantly.😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

I have the edema in my legs and feet .Itching that I had to use aloe Vera gel to cover my skin before Iput on my clothes.sleeplessness.tiredness.I am thankful for this information.I think I’ll take half of the tablet instead to see if I could be rid of some of these negative effects.
Well I have all the symptoms except two. 76 had a Cardiomyopathy 2013. I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia Osteoporosis and ten major bones broken. I appreciate your information because I was attributing the symptoms to other problems. I'm prescribed Amlodipine BESYLATE 2.5. I've only been taking it since 2/15/24. I do respond quickly to new medications. It's only taken at night. I take Carvedilol and Clonidine twice a day and Valsartan in the morning. I'm going to my doctor and tell them my findings. The worst side effect is the itching. Arms, chest, legs. I have scars. Muscle weakness, fatigue and forming words. Some of this is familiar to Lupus and Fibromyalgia however it became worse. This was a wealth of information💕🙏 Thank you
I have been on Amlodipine for some years now and noticed I get a lot of in swelling my legs and feet, some nights I can literally feel a sensation of liquid running down my legs but only in the evening while sitting at my pc, my wife has recently been prescribed Amlodipine she too has noticed swollen legs, I did mention my swelling legs to my doctor and was told to just elevate my legs, after seeing this I'm going to ask for a second opinion, thanks.
I just took it once, doctor gave me, half of 5 mg, my ankle turned red, 1 finger turned red too .... Burning, itching, pain in my feet..... Don't take this medicine..... My ankles are swollen too..... Google it this medicine damages nerves too. Don't trust doctors blindly just check side effects of each medicine first. Doctors just want profit so they won't tell you about serious side effects. You just take it and one more patient will be ready and they will earn more.
@@Brunosdad side effects of amlodipine are swollen ankles, nerve damage.... Stop this poison immediately and eat alot of nutritious food, milk and cheese, clarified butter, eat everything. Thank you very much. I know better now since I have had many of the side effects of Amlodipine intake You've mentioned. I am quitting entirely - gradually of course - to pay attention to a simple balanced diet of more and more greens, brown bread, whole wheat flour, white meat soaked in vinegar for lengthy times, ginger and garlic and lemon grass homemade drinks and such like things. Can't wait. Doctors have been baffled by my "strange" complaints and, consequently, administering one form of vitamin after another plus plus plus. . .
My Dr put me on this med and now it seems everything I eat gives me chronic indigestion and inflamed digestive tract and diarrohea. Even my gluten and lactose free food is causing it. I also feel chronic fatigue and all over body swelling and itching, pins and needles and burning, making me very tired and depressed.
I’ve been on it for years, I believe it contributes to depression and fatigue, and I want to get off it, ironically I’m too tired to take care of myself so I can’t get my BP down.
I'm currently taking myself off as well. I've started drinking at least 2 cups of hibiscus tea a day, wonderful benefits for lowering blood pressure. Also drink at least 2 cups of hawthorne tea a day, good heart benefits there as well. After decades of being a guinea pig for doctors to make kickbacks on the meds they prescribe, I decided nobody's going to be more interested in healing my body more than me. Do your own research into natural healing. I've come back from nearly total disabikity to functioning with less pain, more energy, and better control of my ailments. Good luck!

I’ve been on amolopodine for many years and I’ve been through every side affects of this medication 💊 I think I will ask my doctor to help me with this as I’ve slowly deteriorated ever since I started taking them I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia osteoarthritis and other chronic illness and on watching this video it all makes sense I’m already on perindeprol and water tablets for my blood pressure for the past 7 years I’ve been exhausted and just want to sleep all the time I’m also diabetic type 2 and take metformin every day I’ve been severely depressed and through my gastro problems I was vomiting constantly it was horrendous and I now have dyspepsia and dysphagis thank you so much for doing this video and reading all the comments has really opened my eyes to this medication good luck to everyone 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
This medication cause my ankles to swell! It was horrible, could barely get my feet into shoes. I came off it Snd my feet are back to normal. Advocate for yourself and be open to trying other meds.
Why doctor, what is the problem with the drug AMPLODIPINE here on youtube? Other people after reading are very worried even me because I also use AMPLODIPINE. you should go to the maker of medicine and tell them to stop manufactured your medicine because it is dangerous to the people's health who use it. Stop talking here on youtube so that people don't worry about this kind of medicine.
I had this in my left foot and leg severely and I got a red light machine and used it and it took the swelling down so now my left foot is the same size as my right one you might want to try this they aren't that expensive and I got mine from Amazon
I took myself off the drugs the things right in your kitchen that can take care of your high blood pressure without side effects it's been 3 months can't wait to see my doctor she's done
Be careful. What. things in your kitchen can help with high blood pressure? I am also on this medicine, along with two other medications for my high blood pressure, and if I miss any one of them, i can tell the difference in my pressure. I also keep a record of my pressure to show my doctor so she will know what path to follow next.
@@maryannshaw-uc1ke Apple cider vinegar, beet root juice, increasing potassium. Potassium REALLY did it for me. How are your kidneys? The people I know on that much high blood pressure medicine ended up on dialysis, and none of them have diabetes. As soon as they got on the third pill, their kidneys started going. ALL of those high blood pressure drugs have the side effect of renal failure. Everyone, is different, but the idea of dialysis is not appealing to me.
@teflo2 high potassium can cause heart problems. I cannot have any food that s high in potassium so beets are out as is too much of a low potassium food as it turns to high potassium.
@@maryannshaw-uc1kewatch Dr Berg videos, vit d and benfotamine and a few other vitamins inwas deficient in , I had to come off Amlodipine and I've been on it 18 years! I can't get them from foods since I have no gallbladder, learned I needed ox bile to digest foods when you have it removed but the Dr didn't tell me, I Learned from Dr Berg, now food doesn't go right thru me. I was on amlodipine for two or three weeks. I cannot imagine why anyone would take it. My legs swelled up, became very painful like I had sunburn, I had no energy and I felt depressed. My legs were like I had bad sunburn. I got intense muscle cramps and one cramp, in my calf actually resulted in my calf ripping - there is still a hollow in the muscle where it has no atrophied. Amlodipine did not lower my blood pressure.
I take this medication and now I realize why my legs swell . I also experience the Gum hyperplasia. This sucks but these medications help a lot of people . In some cases the minor setbacks are for the good as long as this can extend your life . But always discuss these issues with your Doctor before stopping any medication, unless a severe allergic reaction, but still report it to your Doctor
I took myself off this medication. I had a horrendous reaction if I went outside in bright sunlight, bright red raised lesions within half an hour which took days to calm down.
I am on Valsartan HCTZ and had no reactions but 2 years on my systolic is still hitting 150-160. Diastolic 75ź80. My new doctor suggested adding 5mg Amlodipine. Glad I did research! I have lymphodema that is well in control. No other health issues. Definitely not taking this! Will start adding more natural products to my regimen instead! I already take 10,000 IUs D3, 200 mg K2, garlic, 400 mg magnesium taurate and hawthorn. I personally think the BP pill isn't working except as a diuretic and the herbs are keeping my pressure where it is.

I have only been on it for 2 months and I'm been driven crazy with itch all over my body. Now it's effected my lady parts and with the bad itch my lady bits are sore and raw from scratching, drawing blood, can't see a doctor for 2 weeks. Live in rural Australia so not many doctors in the outback, have been bathing in warm water with some Bi-Carb Soda and that's helping, also I find since taking that meds I am having Reflux which I have never had before, lucky Bi-Carb works for that as well. I have been on amlodipine for a couple of years. My legs and ankles had bad swelling, fatique, nausea, itching is intense, going to see a dermatologist about it.
This was extremely helpful! I noticed a change in my toenail and was wondering what caused it. Heart palpitations, itchy skin, dull pain in my back, swelling of legs and feet, fatigue, insomnia and many other things. I just stopped taking it two weeks ago and I am starting to feel better. Blood glucose is back to normal, walking 3+ miles per day and feeling like myself. No way would I recommend this medicine.
Thank you so much for this video !! My mom has been having too many of these weird side effects lately !! I wonder how severe muscle weakness this med causes ,though !? As she's in a wheelchair nowadays !! She's also diabetic & diagnosed w addison disease from a treatment for her lung cancer. That's gone ( lung cancer ). Personally, I would change my lifestyle, diet and take B-vitamins (especially niacin in this case) before taking a chemical with so many horrible side effects.
been on 5mg for couple years now and thought everything was ok except severe fatigue sometimes, but now my big toe, top of my feet, above ankles, knees, elbows are so sore, I am limping now. Then a few minutes later it lifts but comes back all day, also weakness. I am not going to take it anymore after seeing this because I never had this kind of pain moving around my body all day and limping around unable to do all my chores without hurting. I'm not on any other pills either.
My left leg swelled up twice its size after I was put on Amlodipine for high bloodpressure. I was in a wheelchair for a year. When my doctor finally took me off of Amlodipine the swelling went away in 2 weeks.
Did your swelling reach lesions ulcer levels I would have intermittent opposite leg alternating blistering and ulcerations unknown cause and they treated only symptoms not the cause

My mother died from dysphagia after taking amlodipine and lisinopril for several years following aneurysm surgery. Doctors never suggested that her medications might have caused the dysphagia!
I’ve been taking amlodipine, 5mg but I don’t have any side effects. My doctor was so happy to see my condition after 6 months. I just avoid taking it together with my blood cholesterol medication.
im using this form like three years now. and i have a palpitation issue when ever i o long cycling rides. and i think this might be the issue. i think i need to see the doctor to change this
I took it for about 2 months back in 21 and 22, was put on it in November of 21 and stopped in January of 22, boy, the side effects were awful. Muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, palpitations, labored breathing, lower back pain which I still have intermittently. Talk about two months of fuckin hell. God it was awful. Not to mention, my bp went way too low with it at one point being 80/40 and the dizziness, god, I can’t wish that on my worst enemies it’s that bad.
Sleepiness, very tired even if slept well night before. Short of breath, and that is scary. Build up of fluid in legs and feet. Put on weight, mostly water. After 4 weeks, taken off this drug. We will try another. We are all chemically different so it may take time to find the drug which works best for us.
Yups, I have losing muscles too and have to exercise everyday to keep it in shape. And yes having NO energy too, I cannot imagine I can do a working day of 8 hours. Depleted in an hour. After eating a lot (with carbs), I can go to blackout. Skin itching even skin cancerous thingies is topic. My first BP medication, Irbesartan caused skin 'auto imune' inflammatory spots all over my body damaged (after COVID vaccination). After switching to Amlodipine (5 mg/day) these skin inflammatory spots are disappearing slow, very slow 2 years. Your topic: Diet change, YES. I know if I can get No carbs I can do without amlodipine, but I like beer too much.
Hi Bev, 40mg is a massive dose, 5 to 10 mg is usual or less, I'm on 5 mg , couldn't tolerate 10 which is what I was put on, tired all the time, feeling very weak, swollen legs right up to my knees and eczema rash, much better on reducing to 5 mg, Amlodipine has a half life of more than 24 hours so can accumulate, do you check your blood pressure regularly? The machines are not expensive.
...I developed a full body rash from this Medication. A Dermatologist strongly recommended I get off what he called a ' dirty ' drug.I have since stopped and this side effect has disappeared. recommended recommended recommended
My lips turned black. I noticed it as it started, but my daughter went off when she noticed. My eyes also were feeling like gritty and running non stop. The Dr was skeptical about it being the Amlodipine. I showed him pictures before. I told him let's stop it and see what happens. Both conditions disappeared within the next few weeks. I think I still have pictures of my black lips.
I take 10mg a day. Been on amlodopine for years no side effects. Now I get the gastrointestinal issues including acid reflux that goes away if I skip doses for days. But when I start back, it gives me left foot pain, bleeding gums, tiredness...
I have been on this medication now for two years. I noticed that I started having twitching in my left, pinky finger and numbness in my left leg. Also a sense of paralysis on the right side of my face. As well as significant night coughs. I’ve decided to take myself off of this because I read that these are all possible side effects of this medication.I’m only on 5 mg but I am a very sensitive person and I honestly believe this is what’s causing all the symptoms. I spoke to my pharmacist and he thinks so as well to the group I know that other high blood pressure medication’s can cause significant coughing or a dry cough is this known to do the same?
I almost didn't tell my PCP that I was having dizziness, I didn't know what it was from. I did tell him. He said "Stop it" The dizzyness stopped instantly.
Not sure if dosage was mentioned in the video, but higher doses probably increase chances of side effects. Also, in many cases, taking this drug or any drug for that matter, with other prescription drugs can increase the likelihood of side effects.
My husband had side effects with Amlodipine, went on to Linsinopril. Both had warnings about taking with grapefruit. So I did some research as is you take these drugs with grapefruit, blood pressure can go too low. So why take toxic drugs? My husband and I worked together with his nurse to wean my husband off of this drug. We did it my using Morton’s LITE Salt (potassium/chloride vs. sodium/chloride). We do not use much but it does give a salty taste without raising BP. I cook beets for my husband as beets are known to decrease blood pressure naturally. Grapefruit does control blood pressure also. grapefruit juice is also good. We found that buying Del Monte Grapefruit prepared in a jar and sold at larger Walmarts in their produce sections in refrigerated cases, is both delicious and convenient. So is it better to have lower blood pressure with natural foods? We think so. Many blood pressure meds are derived from snake venom or mimic the chemical structure of snake venom. It is better to not eat foods which raise blood pressure. So we are Vegan. My husband already had cancer, I don’t want him to be sick, so he has lost weight as well as me by eating a whole Food Plant-Based diet. Think about it.
Lisinopril. Stopped taking it years ago due to excessive dry coughing, even during sleep! Have therapeutically taken myself off many meds, as they were making me feel worse. Feel much better. I used to be on too much (over 13 various). I now take only 5. My health has significantly improved!
My mom was on Amlodipine one year ago. It used to cause a horrible reaction on her legs that was noticeable. Now she is on hydralazine and Furosemide. I don’t recommend Amlodipine.
I can't help but wonder if many who report side effects might not realise that any complaint they encounter after starting treatment (with any medication) could have another cause.
Every night, before I go to bed, my back would itch so badly. After scratching and getting into bed it goes away. I thought it was from chocolate but after reading this, it must be the Amlodopine. Sorry about your dad.

I've been on 10 mg of amlodipine for a long time due to HBP from chronic kidney disease. I have a few of these symptoms but never thought it could be due to amlodipine. Mostly the gastrointestinal issues, nausea and weight loss. But these things could also be due to kidney disease & lupus.
I have been on Amlodopine for several years and I have many of these side effects . I am now going to stop taking this and see what happens. I am also supposed to be taking Losartan for BP.

To get off the meds y’all have to change the way yall eat start eating healthy and stop eating sugar and stop drinking pops & juices and start working out that’s what I did and after a couple of doctors appointment he noticed my blood pressure was getting lower & lower and asked me what I been doing I told him and he immediately took me off bp meds I cut all processed foods and only every blue moon I have fried foods but that was only after not having fried foods for a month when I first started my journey but in order to do this u have to set your mind first or it’s gonna be a struggle and that will make u fall off so u have to prepare your mind for it before making that move and trust me when I say that first week was a complete struggle for me like I started craving everything I couldn’t have but I pulled through and then when I finally got pass that part it got easier & easier oh and plus I did intermittent fasting as well it’s optional tho
And my body did a complete change I felt soo young again had soo much energy I stopped stressing and I slept like a baby and when I wake up I noticed I wasnt sluggish feeling period i got right up with no issues
Your diet and exercise regimen is very important, and also finding a doctor that is on board to wean you off the BP medication is also important. Research foods that lower blood pressure. Please consult with a good doctor that is on the same page as you, that way he can monitor your progress. Your doctor will make decisions based on your medical history. Making lifestyle changes that can benefit your health are not easy to do, but once you develop a routine and then start to see the positive results, you will know that your relentless pursuit is definitely worth the effort. Best wishes for a healthy and happy life.

My Drs always tell me no when I request to be taking off a medication and try one that actually works better. I keep reading it's a big Pharma thing. A patient knows their body best.
Same problem here except my doctor lowered my dosage.

Thank you for this. I've noticed an increase in itchiness and now I can pinpoint a cause.
Yes, now I know why I itch, also weakness
Yes. It can and should be done this way. Also Hawthorn, NAC, Beets etc..

Thanks for this information. Been on for years and having 80% of these problems. Now i know what's the cause and what to do.
What to do?
Good luck!
I experience almost all the symptoms without having taken Amiopidine or any medication. Cannot account for these symptoms.

Not sure if dosage was mentioned in the video, but higher doses probably increase chances of side effects. Also, in many cases, taking this drug or any drug for that matter, with other prescription drugs can increase the likelihood of side effects.
That stuff gave me nightmares and horrible intrusive thoughts.

Psoriasis, gum inflammation .... is there a BP med that doesn't have these side effects?

I was irate with my Dr and said I would rather take my chances than take anymore of that! …. My blood pressure results were normal … when tested 2 weeks after stopping the drug
So stupid to be irate with a Dr who’s TRYING TO HELP U. If I was your doc I’d release you. Boo boo u had bad side effects. Try something else.
@@AmandaSmith-xf6di That's a rude and unhelpful comment. You're giving the commenter grief because they felt the side effects, raised them with his doctor (and yes, they are allowed to be irate, over your shallow objections), and you think continuing to take the drug is fine and dandy? If you were my doctor, not only would you be fired, I'd contact my lawyers.
@AmandaSmith-xf6di ok dr Karen
I had the nausea which got worse and worse till eventually it made me violently sick with projectile vomiting - I asked for a review several times at my surgery and got emphatic NO -so I stopped taking it. It was prescribed for pre hypertension - Amlodopine 5mg. NHS has been run right down
❤🎉🎉Thanks for the highly informative Inservice now I can understand what I went through for the last 2+ years, yes indeed, listen to the patient because they experience firsthand the unusual symptoms and are simply at a loss which way to go😢
Strange dreams! I asked my doctor if this was a side effect of amlodipine and she said she didn't know. Wow, my dreams are so very different from before. I have been taking the drug for two months, and I am curious as to whether the dreams will return to normal over time or not.
I had severe fatigue and increased angina pain with Amlodipine. My cardiologist told me to stop the medication.
Does these side effects go after a while or they continue as long as you are on this medication?
I've been on 10 mg of amlodipine for a long time due to HBP from chronic kidney disease. I have a few of these symptoms but never thought it could be due to amlodipine. Mostly the gastrointestinal issues, nausea and weight loss. But these things could also be due to kidney disease & lupus.
I have been on Amlodopine for several years and I have many of these side effects . I am now going to stop taking this and see what happens. I am also supposed to be taking Losartan for BP.
Don't take any bp medi

@@chaitanyasharma1215 thanks
Thanks for this informative video
I felt like I was on the verge of having a heart attack the first day of taking this poison. I had shortness of breath, it was hard to swallow. I was in panic mode. I called my doctor and he advised to continue taking it. I became proactive about my health and immediately stopped taking it. I am on Losartan now with no major side effects except some dizziness. I am trying to take steps to wean myself off of HBP meds all together. I’ve read that it can cause death as well.
Can you share what steps you are taking to wean yourself off of it please? The Losartan kept me in the E.R. the E.R Dr told me to tell my Dr to take me off of he Losartan and he did he was mad about it, but I ended up changing Dr. Because I dont want a Mad Dr Givinging me any advice, Why are you Mad??? so I was taken off of it and was given the Amlodipine. Thank you for your Response and I hope everyone the best of Health..
I am on amlodopine and also have a pocket pill for arythmas which i get quite a lot. Theres so much to be said for limiting carbs loosing weight and walking to reduce stress on ones body.i have been feeling dizzy lately and have a lot of tiredness im 73.
What is a good alternative to amlodipine? Im on .5, but would like to get lower and than off it completely. Not take another med but off amlodipine.
Magnesium.
@@chrisgonzales-u9w Magnesium does not lower blood pressure like Amlodipine.
How about dizziness?I was really falling backwards no dizziness but i would fall that too on my bum. I have had itching and flushingplus falling down. NO i stopped it on my own.
