If it’s just a rusted out hole in the screw, you might try the square end screwdriver bit. If that won’t work, you’ll likely need a screw extractor kit. You can get one at most hardware stores. Harbor Freight has them too. I’ll it a link to it below. I don’t remember which size socket wrench I used (I made the video over a year ago), sorry! There's no base seems built into the ground, It's always had a small water leak problem behind the toilet, Yesterday the pedal kinda broke like to much water goes down so have to bend over use my hands to quickly push down and hurry to pull up, It looks like an old RV that a truck would pull, probably from the late 80's or early 90's, Some rusted metal spring was near the pedal almost half an inch thick and about 3 inches long, Even if I bought a new pedal I don't know if anything could be fixed 😕
Hmmm that sounds like some sort of custom fitted toilet. Maybe whoever installed it didn’t really figure out how to follow the manufacturers recommendations or they had to make a modification in order to make it work in that spot? I’d recommend replacing it with a different toilet. The one in the video is hard to find parts for now. Well done. My "blade" doesn't move when I depress the pedal, but if I touch it, it will quickly open and closes without a problem. Just pushing through pooh to get it to open is a problem. Any ideas?
Thanks for the reply Ed. I would suspect that it’s your blade seal that is binding on the blade. The blade seal replacement is a snap. I think there are even a few videos out there to help you. 04/11/24 The cable broke again on our Aqua Magic IV small pedal and they discontinued it on Amazon. Tried several RV parts dealers and no one has the cable anymore. Thetford wants us to upgrade to a new toilet looks like.

I just bought a used 1994 class A rv. Used the toilet about 4 times and on the 4th time when I stepped on the large pedal, to open the blade, the pedal stuck and has not retracted leaving the blade 3/4 open. I'm basically boondocking so limited as to where I could work on fixing it but also wondering if replacing the toilet would be better.
Making this repair while boondocking will be possible if you have the tools and the blade repair kit. If you can’t have Amazon deliver the kit or get to an RV parts supplier, then you’ll have to make the repair without the kit (for now). In any case, you’ll have to receive an Amazon order or visit a RV supplier to get a new toilet anyway. So, it’ll save money to just fix the stuck blade. The blade has a rubber seal that sometimes drags as it slides. You may try lubricating with a light coating silicone grease. More likely is the failure of the spring that pulls the blade into place or that the cable that retracts the blade (when you step in the peddle) is binding due to a worn pivoting lever, anchor, or cable guide. Your best bet, if you have tools, is remove the toilet, take it outside, and begin troubleshooting the action of the mechanics between the foot peddle and the blade. Just start at the foot peddle and see where the “hang up” occurs as you test the movement of the cable, levers, springs and anchors all the way to the blade. You’ll find the problem soon enough and then you can either order a replacement part or repair the malfunctioning part.
@@maintenanceman1503 thank you for your prompt and thorough response. The RV had been winterized until last week and that could be contributing to the stuck pedal. I've been away from it for a few days but will see what I can do to fix it once I get back.

Crap I'm going to have to remove my toilet now and do all of this work my valve won't open so my toilet bowl is full of water so I got a during that first thanks for the video
@@maintenanceman1503 I lucked out when I was getting the water out I pushed on the flapper valve by accident and it drained the water but I don't check to see if the levers would work so I pulled the toilet then I checked the levers and everything worked so I had to by a new gasket and reinstall toilet what a pain to get the water line reconnected. Thanks for the help. I have some lights not working I think their is a wiring problem somewhere I don't know what I am going to do about that. Hot water tank was not working cleaned the thermocouple got it working. Almost ready to go Kart racing this weekend.
Hey, it sounds like you are doing a great job with what you are trying to do. Electrical wiring is a big challenge for me too. I think it’s because I can’t SEE electricity, so I don’t really understand what’s going on with it.

Hi Brooke. Hmm… so BOTH (make sure) wires are not broken but the gate won’t open to allow you to flush? The only thing I can think of is the lever assembly (item 2 in the diagram link below). Or, maybe the little wires are not being pulled by the pedals because they are not anchored to the pedals for some reason. So, check both wires at both ends. At the lower ends the wires should move when you press the pedal each one is attached to. If the wire does not move when you press a pedal, then the ends of that wire are no longer attached to that pedal properly. The upper ends should move the lever assembly when you press the pedal. Likewise, if the lever does not move when you press each pedal, then the upper ends of the wire are not attached properly or the lever itself is broken. The big screw of the lever arm assembly won't come off. We've try the solvent, hammer... The screw is stripped. Anything else we could try besides buying another toilet?
Ugh… ya that’s frustrating! Ok, you’ll need a screw extractor kit. They run about $10 at Harbor Freight. You’ll basically drill a hole in the center of the stripped screw then use a hammer to tap the pointy end of the screw extractor tool into the hole (nice and tight). Then you put an adjustable wrench on the other end of the screw extractor and rotate it counter-clockwise nice and slow. The screw extractor will “bite” into the sides of the hole in the screw and back the screw out. I’ll post a link to the tool below. @maintenanceman1503 Actually , I went to Lowes, bought 5 ft. of the same size cable for about $4.. then bought some lead fishing weights that I softened (melted) with a torch, & fed the cable through it. Worked perfect although the lead balls at each end of the cable weren't perfectly round..LoL..but that wasn't a problem. I've ordered the plastic piece that the cables swivel on when the pedal is depressed. But All in All..I still couldn't have done it without your video. Thanks Again, Sir.
