Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I did the same upgrade on my Ryobi mower with great results. I did not use a power rail. I bought a single heavy duty insulated stud terminal that I mounted to the frame. The negative lead for the battery meter, negative input lead for the mower, negative lead for the charging cable, and negative battery lead were all connected to the stud. The positive battery and charging leads were connected to the input side of the contactor like you did. I connected the battery meter to the output side of the contactor so it wouldn't get power when the mower is switched off. The downside of this is that the gage reads low when the mower is in use due to voltage drop. I also reused the 100 Amp fuse from the original harness. If the load or charging wires short out, the fuse will protect the battery and its controller. I noticed that you are relying on the plastic shroud to secure the battery in place. I think this is a safety concern, especially if you flip your mower on its back wheels to clean out the deck. I secured my battery with a ratchet strap so it will not move.

The way I swapped out my batteries was much easier and less expensive and less time consuming than the way you did it. I purchased 4 eco-worthy 12v, 50ah lifepo batteries. They are the same size as the lead acid batteries. I took out the lead acid batteries, dropped in the lifepo batteries, reconnected everything the same way it was, and connected a 4 terminal Noco battery charger. One to each battery. I attached the charger to the back of the seat. The charger tells me how much juice I still have, so I didn't have to install a battery meter. Total cost was $820. Total time to convert was 1 hour, 20 minutes.

Absolutely Brilliant. I am a gal that must do a battery swap. I appreciate you jumping in here. I assume the charger is the Norco Genius 2x4 for about $200. ? I would fix the 8 ends with new fittings to attach permanently ? In series I am trying to not complicate this in my weak brain. I will study Norco direction on using the tool for the 4 battery plan. And do you recommend purchasing their GC009 X connector along with the 10ft extension cord? Do the extras help make it more seamless? You really helped so much you cannot imagine. I love the mower and live in Central Florida for year road use. I am not loving having to replace batteries after 18 months-lol. I have disassembled and removed the clunkers. I am ready to move forward and you cleaned it all up. Thank you and just know you speaking out has really helped give someone a leg up. I am also very grateful that Quiet Lawn started these video for all to learn from. Stay safe out there. Sincerely

@mycocheto you are correct about the charger. It is the Noco genius 2x4. It comes with the gator clips already attached, but you can simply unscrew them with a screwdriver so that you can have a ring terminal. I did not get any extension for the charger. I just hung the cables out of the back, under the plastic cover. The 4 cables then connect to the charger. The charger has a 6 foot cord that plugs into an outlet, plus that power cord also unplugs from the charger if you wish. It is not a 3 prong plug. It is 2. I'd send you pictures if I knew where to send them.
Good luck. It's easier than you think.

thank you yet again . After I wrote late last night I actually went to Noco sight and got download to see what they had in box and realize just the charger and 4 batteries. Awesome. I also saw the batteries were $20 off but have not checked if they would give discount off each batterie. That would be a $80 savings but not sure yet. It is a crying shame Ryobi so weak in many departments. You ever call customer service about this warranty service qustions? OMG. I am shocked that Home Depot is so non proactive about that kind of customer care. Probably my last Ryobi purchase. But moving thru this and I think it is easier only because of you. So lucky I have read so much and happened on you. My sincerest gratitude. One I purchased everything the connecting of the 8 leads from charger, I might scratch my head . Any beginning or end point ? As a certain pattern so to speak. And thank you for responding-Bravo to you yet again. @@matthewkurt2246Jeepers you actually sent more assume info because I looked at price of batteries and for sure a better deal than late last night. YOU ROCK!!!

I literally tried to install new lithium batteries in my Ryobi rm300e this week but ran into an issue. They’re a total of 4, 12V batteries but after hooking them up in series push 53V. When I try to start the mower, the lights flash then everything dies. All the wiring and 100amp fuse are good so I’m guessing it’s the contactor. Is there something you did to get the BMS to not shut down?

I don't have LiFePO4 in a mower, but we've got 100Ah prismatic cells in a 4s4p configuration in our RV for a house battery that was installed in early 2016. Much of that time since then ( maybe 5 years total, not counting storage ) it's been in use full-time with 80% of that being off grid. The battery has undergone easily 1500 cycles and is doing well. We haven't done capacity testing on it, but it's not noticeably diminished when we use the RV and all cells are still pretty close in voltage.

You seem to have a low IQ and not be able to read, so let me explain it to you. I'm converting it to lithium batteries from the stock lead acid batteries. Learn to read.
