    This was super informative but I do have one question. How do your B2B sets usually get booked? Do you and the other artist set out to play together or does the venue/event book you both through the same agent/agency? Follow up: Have you ever had an awkward or bad experience in a B2B set?

      E most of the time, the organization asks the dj’s if they’re interested in it

    I also love b2b sets because it gives me some more confidence going into the set. If anything happens (someone trips over a chord or you mess up on track selection) then the crowd isn’t just looking at you, they are looking at you and your partner in crime which always feels a little less embarrassing lol

    In the last couple of years I've done a lot of back to back to back sets with DJ Turne and DJ DNS. We would use 3 setups. In our case it wasn't just about mixing, but we would incorporate some turntablism fun as well. To keep a clear eye on our outputs we would all send our signals to a seperate DJM900NX2. That way we all used the booth signal from that mixer and we could hear each other.
    It would be back to back to back, or two of us would be playing at the same time, and sometimes all three of us were adding something at the same time. Communication was very important because it's easy to turn such a three-way set into a chaotic situation ;)

    The fact that a legend is showing us this tutorial is fricken amazing. Deadmau5 does all the time too and David Gutta did a few. So it's awesome seeing absolute legends give us tips and tutorials

    dear Laidback Luke, my suggestion to you is make the next episode of "How to DJ Back 2 Back". because i still confused how Dirtyphonics could mixing the track. Each of them using 2 CDJs and one Mixer (the total on the table have 4 CDJs & 2 Mixers). also the tempo they are use usually 170++ BPM (DnB).

    B2B has to be so much fun thing to do. Keep on communicating with each other & work together to make one big & enjoyable set for the crowd.

  • @OFFICIALDJFLASHBACK
    @OFFICIALDJFLASHBACK 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Back in 2009, a buddy and I had two Technics 1200 setups with Serato and we played two songs each and then the other would mix two tracks. We would communicate at what BPM we were just to speed up the process. B2B sets are another great level to DJing. It's a lot of fun but it challenges you to try harder and be on the fly.

    Personally, I've not done too many b2b sets but I think that it really just boils down to communication. As long as you and your partner are on the same wavelength and you know what's going on, pretty much anything goes. If you both feel the same or similar vibe then all will be swell. As long as there is no nasty surprises....

    Heres an idea for yall. Try doing a b2b or b3b set over the internet live??
    I have done a few sets with this concept and its so fun, especially if your a startup DJ. You get to apply all of your skills and making a clean mix is really fun. Only disadvantage, is making sure the audio from all ends is clean.

    Maybe a couple of more issues could be like you mentioned, flexibility of mixing in to other genres when playing with someone else, unless it has been pre-planned, as well as mixing styles, like some people might like to play longer into a track while some might be into really short mixes (ofcourse this might not be an issue when B2Bs with other people are more often done rather than as an one-off thing). At the end of the day it might be more easier for DJs like yourself when you play with your mates, rather than for younger folk, who might team up with someone else for the night at much smaller clubs. Just a thought. Thanks for yet another video. Cheers, Kunal.
