Without Robert Johnson we would not have awesome rock-and-roll superstars. He may have lived in Chicago but he was born in and grew up in Mississippi decades before the Civil Rights Era. They didn't make music videos then, and we might never know for sure how he got to playing such awesome chords.
People, the blues came from the black church, it may not have always been Robert, but there were people b4 him that went unheard of, but it’s always been there

Interesting thing I noticed in my research is that in one video on here of Son House talking about Robert, he says that RJ couldn't play worth spit until he went to Arkansas for about 6-9 months, and when he came back he could play his ass off. However, in the book "Deep Blues" by Robert Palmer, it's written that RJ actually returned home to Hazlehurst in south MS (not Arkansas) during that period of time, married an older woman and took guitar lessons under Ike Zinneman (so there was no devil).
So, so good! Read somewhere that they sped up this recording before they released it in the 30's to make it sound like he was faster than he actually was.. true or not, what a guitar player!
Maybe, but I doubt it. Then his voice wouldn't sound right. The whole thing wouldn't sound right. Not sure if they had the technology to do over dubs. Like if they played the sped up guitar part and then had him sing over the faster guitar part. I think about all they could do back then was record the whole thing in one take. 🤷♂
I think it's better that their copyright expires and it should expire sooner. Its better to see people use these legend's works in creative ways than to let them sit until they become forgotten to time.
