- I bought an $80 Squier Bronco bass, and it was immediately damaged. So I sent it off for a refin and now it's a work of art.
Huge thanks to Oakland Guitars for bringing this beautiful instrument back to life and reigniting my joy for my Bronco.

Can't even wait til the end of the episode to say I gasped at how gorgeous that finish turned out!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 so happy to have helped! Glad you’re happy with it and it’s finally getting to be loved!!!
Yes! Thank you!
That pickup gives nasty old P-bass vibes in the best possible way, and I cannot stop staring at that finish. Absolutely stunning!
they really did such a great job on the finish! congrats on the new (again) bass! i love my shell pink squier bronco :)
Sweet bass, nice playing. Glad it found its way back to you!
Me too! Thanks for the kind words
Damn that bass sounds great!! And the finish looks killer ! Congratulations to you
Awesome 👍🏻
Nice work on JHS today! So cool to see the channel grow.
Thanks so much 💜
Happy for you on this cool, fun bass!😎👍✨💜💜💜
Thanks!!
Looks and sounds great! I was absolutely distracted by that sick looking Benson in the background.
Fantastic!!!
Question answered!! Very cool! I loved modding my Bronco!!
It looks and sounds great.
👏👏👏
Super cool looking bass! I love to see how people mod their Squier Broncos. I used to have one that I got cheap, but sold cheap too without doing any mods. They're very fun instruments.
I found out later that Guitar Nerds all did their own mods on Broncos, too!
That bass sounds like a BASS!! Stunning finish!
Can’t decide if I really like that pickup or if it’s just the flurry of Kim Deal stylings with a ton of fuzz. 🤔
Congrats on getting the Bronco back and better than ever!
Both!
Looks super cool.
It is!
7:06 I’m not one for talking back to TH-cam videos, but a genuine out-loud “Oh, very nice!” happened when you pulled that sparkle monster from the gig bag.
Haha, you're not alone! I was happy when I first unboxed it after finally getting it back after 18 months lol.
Congrats on getting her back, she's wicked in her current form and it looks great. I also dig the pedal. Putin Khuylo!
Ya gotta go with a 4 saddle bridge. It makes a HUGE difference.... I slapped a generic bridge on it and the holes lined up. No drilling!! Lemme see If I have another kicking around and I'll send it out to ya!
Sparklesssss. I love those giant flake finishes!
Meeee toooooo
I also put a Fleor hot rail humbucker in mine and switched the pots to 5K with an orange drop, it sounds insane!
Purple sparkle 💖 FTW
I have one of these; severely sun damaged and unloved between two different stores. I put a rail pickup in it and now I think Fender should market it as a small alternative to a P bass. I hope the Sonic Broncos are as good as these.
Good call on the rails! I think Alvvays put a rails in their musicmaster bass
It's still a stunner!
OUUU with that Hawaiian pizza that baby is sounding fantastic (and a great version of that pedal ;) )
Glad to hear a happy ending to a story, even if it wasn't a perfect one.
My next project-a Super Bronco-thanks for posting
Sounds sick!
that is pretty!
I agree!
I've had similar experiences only they didn't turn out as well. Had someone doing "repair" on a 1965 Gibson Melody Maker . Haven't seen it since. Also took some pickguard material to a guitar repair shop that had made one for me in the past. Three months later I returned to get my pickguard material because they still hadn't done it.
Ooof, I'm so sorry that happened to you.
I honestly might have considered reporting the Melody Maker as stolen. How long ago was that?
For the pickguard, I am sympathic for people taking on too much and drowning in work and anxiety. But it sucks to be on the "waiting for what I was promised" end of it
@@GetOffset The person doing the "repairs" on the Melody Maker was one of my daughter's ex-boyfriends who was a repair person (who actually did some nice repair work for me) and reporting it as stolen would probably get awkward. It was a good number of years ago and I have 28 more guitars in the house. Besides I'd already devalued it in the mid Seventies by "modding" it, which was a thing we dumb old guys used to do. The cool thing was I got it AND a 1964 Blackface Fender Champ both for $35. It was before the "V" word came along (vintage). Thanks for your concern, though.
It needs a new shiny strap. 👀
Hello! Josh sent me here.
Welcome!!
Wow, that pickup!! So punchy
I'm really happy with it!
Love the Pixies basslines.
Is Oakland still doing refinishing work? It looks stunning !
I really like the Get Offset logo with the ring & stars.
Hey there! Oakland didn't do the refin, but they may offer that service. I love the work that they did do-redrilling the bridge, pickguard, and strap button holes, upgrading the electronics, installing new tuners, setting everything up and more.
Glad you like the new logo! My singer Jena Pyle did it
@@GetOffset
So are you saying that they outsourced the refin/ oversaw the project ?
@@clockwork914 no... I explained in the video that someone else reached out to me, said they could do the refin, ghosted me, and finally sent it back to me painted, but not finished.
@@GetOffset
Ok, that was not clear to me that they sent it back painted.
I have those same funkos!
They're the best ones!
Bass looks great!
And yeah, those pickups on bottom level Squiers are placeholders.
I would have wanted to play around with using something like a Seymour Duncan Hotrails pickup in one of these, but then I am more into taking a cheap bass and making it my own than maintaining the stock sounds and features.
I love Seymour Duncan, and a hot rails would've been super cool in this! Alvvays uses a Musicmaster bass with some rails pickup, and I think that's sick. That being said, I'm super happy with the McNelly!
Super under rated bass. It was the first bass I bought with my own money at 16 and I still enjoy playing it.
Right on!
It still has the original bridge.
Yes
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also have a happy valentine's day ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you!
After the first note I got Pixies vibes…Sweet!
Is the name of your band “Jerf”???
Your bass face is second to none.
Yep, I played a few Pixies songs there--have to pay tribute to Kim Deal.
JERF is the band I play bass in, yes! There are a few performers named JERF on streaming, but you'd be on the lookout for the album with a cat on the cover.
@@GetOffset Hi. Thanks for the reply.
It was Pixies tone from the very first note. I will check out JERF!
Greetings from Brazil!
@@GetOffset Is it the album with Runaway...Life Was Easier...Oh, I´m a Writer etc.?
That's the one!@@damianrf6309
@@GetOffset Ok. Thanks.
The bass turned out great but I'm confused. I watched you take a router to a perfectly clean jazzmaster with zero hesitation, something I'm STILL afraid to do on an upcoming project, but you were afraid to drill a couple holes for a bridge on a squier?!
I will say, having someone else refinish it was a good call though. I just finished redoing a jazzmaster using purple (!!!) chameleon paint and it came out great... until I applied the lacquer... and it took forever to strip, sand, prep, and spray the body.
Measuring and drilling a bridge involves measuring. Using the router was just making an existing hole bigger. And I could cover up the router job with the pick guard.
@@GetOffsetThats fair. Any measuring scares the hell out of me because some how ill triple check it and still mess it up.
what bridge did you put on it?

That bass sounds great! Got me looking at McNelly pickups. 🤔
The Caroline Hawaiian Pizza sounds great on bass, and I love your limited edition colour scheme and graphics.
I have a BMF clone with the same colour scheme and a similar theme by Harby.
