YOUR FAVORITE HOARDER IN THE HOUSE! You already won our hearts. Yes you are our favourite hoarder 😉 You are on the right path , when you acknowledge you have clutter & you need to do something to tame it. Enjoy your new home ❤❤
Eunice!!! I was SO HAPPY to see you back on the channel with April!!! I've been waiting for this episode and you guys did not disappoint!! I see more collabs in your future!
Just found your channel. Do not feel bad. I have got into the habit of going through the pantry, regularly, and I still weed out a ton. And I can't figure out how that can still happen 😅.
The Eunice and April Comedy Show, always fun! Normally I would agree with people in the comments that many of these foods are not really “expired” and are safe to eat, but unless you’re going to eat the stuff today or this week it is sometimes better to throw it away. We have to be honest with ourselves that if we haven’t eaten it since 2017 or 2021 that we’re unlikely to eat it now. The pain/shame of throwing so much food away can help teach us not to overbuy in the future.
I hate throwing food away but now I have the "broken glass" method. I think of expired food as a broken crystal glass I must clean up - the damages happen when the glass broke (or the food expired), not when I sweep up the pieces (throw away). It is strange how it helps me to acknowledge that the damage is already done, this is just the clean-up. Now I keep low inventory and NO freebies, everything very intentional - so to avoid "broken glasses". Thanks for the video, I love this series and you two are so great.
I have always had scarcity mindset and went beyond stocking up. We grew up poor and I have always purchased beyond what we would eat. I hate throwing food out but finally had to start letting it go in the trash. I love how you wrote about expiration dates being the broken crystal glass that needs to be cleaned up. Wonderful analogy and one I will use going forward. Thank you.
I remember going through a book called 30 Days to Reduce Anxiety by Harper Daniels and I think there was an exercise in there about decluttering as a mindfulness meditation. I just spent half the day slowly cleaning my place. Not rushing, just slowing cleaning one area at a time in silence. The relief at the end was amazing. I was able to throw away a lot and felt soooooo much better about myself for having a clean place.
Hi Eunice, you can only buy what will fit easily in your cabinets and fridge, take a quick inventory before you go food shopping. You look cute in the headband.
Eunice needs a shelf ( or 2 or 3) just for thier ramen snacks so they know where they all are in kitchen And for snacks and teas that are close to expiration date Should be in a clear bin labeled Eat First or Drink First Another excellent decluttering job ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Many items are good even long after the Exporte date. Eben things like milk or joghurt, what you usually wouldn't expect. In Germany that's a huge thing, since tons of food are wasted every year. Don't waste food. Most don't go bad the day after the printed date 😅 It has an effect on so many different aspects. The industry that produces food, for example, including the used energy and water, the environment, even animals. So we are taught, if something still looks good then smell it, taste it and, if still good, use it quickly.
Yes! There’s also a difference between the ”best before/best until/preferably use until” dates and the ”use by/consume before” ones. There’s a potential health risk with the latter (but there are safety margins, and the risk isn’t the same between, say, meat and yoghurt), but the Sniff Test can be used to decide whether it’s still ok to eat (maybe not by someone fragile). (”Fun” thing, here in France, for yoghurts, the same plants put a ”4-week-hence” end date for those destined to the ”european landmass” country, but for those sent to Martinique and Guadeloupe, there is a ”use by 6-weeks-hence” date. For exactly the same product!) The ’preferentially/best’ labels, on the other hand, are there only because the consistency or taste might have changed, but there’s zero health concerns to have if you eat those.
@@thisuniquechica if it went bad that long ago, well, it’s likely because it’s not something which is used at all in any case, so yes, there’s no sense in keeping it (plus, well, the ”ouch, I had to throw it away” memory might help against being tempted to buy some again).
Just to add this, we did keep the expired ones she would use. Emphasis on keeping what she would actually use. And I’m not sure if it was filmed behind the scenes or is in another video, but many of the items smelled very strongly of plastic and chemicals from sitting in their containers too long.
Sometimes it's not hoarding but this is the reality in our house. We bought too much stuff and we just put these things anywhere as long as there's a space.
Cool - the lovely Eunice is joining us 😊 I think we as a species are drawn to categorisation - kiddies games are often based on the idea of categorisation so it’s a good place to start to break a big task down. Those baskets holding all like things up in the top shelves are such a good idea - it’s really the only way to use those hard to access spaces while being able to see what you have in them. Also Eunice cannot be called a hoarder at all - because she was utterly ruthless with today’s declutter- she went through all that like a hot knife through butter - you go girl ☺
Made my day seeing you two together working on another area. I’m looking forward to this series too. Have a great week both of you. Mary, Joes wife 👏💪👍🙏💐🐈⬛
I take some hotel items, but only the ones I know I will use and the ones I opened because I know they will throw them in the garbage (lime the soap bars) Also, I made a pause halfway through the video to get myself a bag of Maltesers... you should have them sponsoring your next video 😂
I take hotel toiletries, coffee, tea, artificial sweetener and sugar. I use the tea and sugar and daydream about the trip. My husband uses the coffee and artificial sweetener. When I traveled a lot I kept the toiletries in my travel bag so I didn't have to ask for more at the front desk if the small shampoo wasn't enough. Now I keep them with my other toiletries and use them up before I buy full size bottles at a store. I once went a month using up the small travel size toiletries so I treated myself with the money I didn't spend on toiletries that month.
Yay so happy to see you guys together again! I can see how much happier you are when you're working with people rather than alone, especially with a good friend. Excited to see the next steps!
Videos with the two of you together have become my favorite. You inspire me to declutter in layers. It really does become contagious and makes me want to get rid of more when the time is right! Blessings!
Love that! I'm going to start posting some of the deleted scenes as extra videos for you guys since you love it so much! Here's the first - th-cam.com/video/X_qykxwPUi0/w-d-xo.html
8:09 I used to take the teas, sugars and coffees 😂😅but now I only take instant coffee, because I don't drink instant coffee at home but sometimes I need some for baking or making dalgona. So I actually use it.
I absolutely take the hotel freebies! Though I agree with Eunice that if I were the traveler you both were I’d have to rethink that. Those little coffee packets have been a life saver when I’d forgotten to restock the coffee 😊
Eunice: My partner would take everything provided by the hotel but I've had to limit it to items we'll actually use; for example, we can't take any more packets of decaf coffee until he uses the ones from a previous trip. April: Our ground flaxseed says to refrigerate after opening but the chia seeds (whole, not ground) just advise to store in a cool, dry place. We've never had a problem with them going rancid but refrigerating them is probably best in homes without air conditioning.
We are all guilty of just buying or taking too much. We don't eat them or use them. We really have to stop consuming or bringing so much stuff in ours houses. And need to go through them often. I am working on this.
Love me some Eunice! I actually love the two of you together! I take toiletries from certain hotels. My daughters-in-law love the products from those hotels. You two did such a good job and kept on track even with so many tempting snacks around! You introduced me to the cherry tea from Korea and it is absolutely wonderful. It’s a little expensive here in the States but makes a great no calorie treat. And Eunice food in cupboards is hard to keep on top of. It is so easy for the oldest to end up in back
Expiration dates are just a guideline. When I was a kid (yes, I'm old) there were no expiration dates on anything. We used our senses. Taste it, look at it, smell it. I'm still here. 😊 Some items are still good past the date, which is sometimes referred to as the "Best by date" and there is "Best when used by' date. The dates on products are a guideline. I think a lot of food in the USA gets wasted unnecessarily because they view the dates too rigidly. You can also google what foods are ok past the expiration dates, and for how long. Lots of TH-cam videos as well.
Expirations date are placed on products by the Mfg. They are NOT always accurate...Many products have a much longer shelf life. Canned goods can last up to 5 years....Do a little research before tossing expired products especially since Food cost are skyrocketing

I think that 2022, if non refrigerated items, would be ok. Usually, expiration dates are based on retail and not on the science. Four years is usually the time to consider expiration based (mostly) on staleness. Spices last six or seven years, again, based on staleness. Packages of high preservative flavorings for ramen would probably last 20 years.
we did keep the expired ones she would use. Emphasis on keeping what she would actually use. And I’m not sure if it was filmed behind the scenes or is in another video, but many of the items smelled very strongly of plastic and chemicals from sitting in their containers too
Is there an easy way to change shopping habits so there isn't so much waste? I work in an office so it is easy to take in items I won't use, and we have many food pantries for families in need. Perhaps if you can restrict to one bin of snacks and don't buy until half empty, etc.? I tend to not have enough in my pantry, so I have the opposite issue LOL
I used to take the toiletries but then i had too many, decluttered and realized i wasted them, so I stopped. But i do take them when i travel. Recently ran out of shampoo thought of those little toiletries, found one 😆. So now i need them again. Realized what i should declutter, im not decluttering. I seem to be decluttering the easiest areas, thus no toiletries and avoiding the craft room again. Feel like i just talked in circles 😆 I do take tea bags that i think my husband would like and he does drink them. Recently won a sticker at a sustainable store, realized i wouldnt use the sticker. So i told the person, im not going to take it with me. Saving the world one sticker at a time 😆
I know for me, some things may have a best before date but i know they are good for much much longer if stored properly, like tea. Sugar too if is sealed. We're lucky we have a basement pantry situation so things are stored in a cool area and can last long time. But the bugs thing freaks me the f out. Like we almost never have them here, BUT, I have seen in other homes and recently our rice which was sealed in an airtight tupperware, how did they get there? We only noticed near the end, were they there the whole time in hibernation? Not sure i really want to know.
I know it's enoying to have so much stuff but half the stuff seems like it's not really expired. The "expiration date" ist just this stupid date they need to print but on sugar, pasta, salt... its not really a thing... do you have any other solution than throwing it away? I struggle with that and just keep most of it, because its to hard for me to throw that away
Many things don’t really expire, some lose some flavor or freshness but are totally safe to eat. You can check online for guides on how seriously to take the dates. But sometimes you just have to accept that you’re never going to have time to eat it all. I try to compost whatever I can when I have to throw away food.
I have like enough panties for like 4 months and socks probably like 10 weeks. Cause I like to do separate hot water wash for underwear and separate sock wash.
I hope you don't mind but as a mother I always tell my children. You need maintenance habits. 1. After using something, put it away immediately. 2. Clean surfaces everyday. 3. Get rid of extra staff regularly. If you don't follow these rules, things get piled up until you can't stand it any longer. You are Young and clever you can start new habits if you want a change. Good luck. You can't have more things that you can contain. Be smart. The less you have the less you have to care about.
That underwear comment is disconcerting, especially since I have undergarments (and clothing) older than my kids and some pieces older than my marriage...lol

@@maddielc204 I am so glad this helps you as well. I mutter to myself; the damage is already done, just sweep up the glass...

You should keep your sugars in the refrigerator that's what I do and they keep for a long time
I feel like that underwear study was funded by an underwear brand. Total bs 😂
Bahaha totally.
Fellow Aussie here. Tim Tams are a staple in our diet!!😂😂😂
My husband and I lived there for a short time!
Note for future videos: don’t leave a huge bag of Malteasers there to distract me from actual content. Obsessed with wanting them. 😂🤣
You don’t need to throw out exp especially best by. Water has an expiration date.
I don’t take the tea because they don’t usually have the kind I like 😂
❤️👍
I'm an Aussie so if you want me to send you some Tim Tam's just say the word 😂. Have you tried a Tim Tam Slam?
I hope you don't mind but as a mother I always tell my children. You need maintenance habits.
1. After using something, put it away immediately.
2. Clean surfaces everyday.
3. Get rid of extra staff regularly.
If you don't follow these rules, things get piled up until you can't stand it any longer.
You are Young and clever you can start new habits if you want a change.
Good luck.
You can't have more things that you can contain. Be smart. The less you have the less you have to care about.
I don’t take things from hotels unless I will use them.
I'm watching these all out of order and it's so confusing what the actual timeline is 😂
Hi A & E! I wish I thought to have working girlfriend hang outs.
I’m so confused. How many houses does she have
She just moved into a new one
I think this was filmed just before she moved :)
I do take if I use… Don’t drink tea
No you don't need to throw out your undiess every 6 months lol
Where are the fresh fruit & veggies?
we keep hotel tea but no to toiletries
I don’t think she needs to buy any more snacks for at least a year 😂.
I don’t generally take the stuff from hotels as I know I wouldn’t use it.
That underwear comment is disconcerting, especially since I have undergarments (and clothing) older than my kids and some pieces older than my marriage...lol
I take a freebies and donate them.
Things like teas and sugar last way beyond any manufacturers expiration or best buy dates. What a waste.
Declutter fast… 15 min video
she has a lot of hoarding problems
