I absolutely LOVE all the camera angles you used in this video! The drone shots in the field dramatically showed how much work went in to clearing it! When the camera panned around following the field line it was clear how much encroachment the brush and trees had done! The shots from the seeder were really cool to watch! It showed me perfectly how the wheels and disc work together! You're becoming a true videographer as well as an awesome farmer, and teacher! I said teacher because you've definitely taught me quite a lot about cows and farming! I'm 51 and always learn something from your videos. You should feel very proud! Welcome Elizabeth, as you probably know the trick to learning is to keep your eyes open on everything and watch what they're doing. It is not necessarily to do is they do but to learn from mistakes and different methods.
Eric it''s time to pickup a fill auger for your 750 no till drill. have it mount it on the back in the middle on a swivel, runs off your tractor hydraulics and you can use the skid steer to unload tote into auger at ground level, would work for bags too. i'm sure there are probably decent second hand augers kicking around.
Nothing like playing with big toys.. that tractor was a beast. Well worth the rental fee just for the fun of using it, getting any work done is just icing on the cake 🤣 Always good to see what your up to. My mom is waiting the results of a test from a tumor biopsy and these videos really help me get through' the tough times. Any prayers are welcome, it's in God's hands now and that's all we can do

The power of nature is incredible. Left to its own devices, it would reclaim that entire field in 20 years. Maybe less. I have seen roots lift 20 ton concrete slabs, a 1/4" a year. And it's an accumulative process. Once there's growth in the fields, wild life moves in and they in turn spread seeds and pollen around and then more plant life takes hold and then more wild life...it speeds up. Without humans working against the onslaught it just thrives. Look at Chernobyl and the area. No human intervention and the place looks like it's been abandon for 500 years.
They do make some awesome skid-steer mounted forest munchers that would reduce all of that to wood chips. That looks like a pretty good crop of rocks, do you plant hybrid rock seeds, or go with the heirloom varieties, and what fertilizer do you use to grow the best rocks?
@@jimmyleal3436 don’t tear the shelter belt out, just manage it to reduce the adverse effects of erosion and crop moisture loss due to winds. Judicious use of shelter belts increase yields of many crops by providing habitat for song birds, raptors and 4-footed predators that prey on crop damaging insects and rodents.
So last video I suggested a flail mower for the Kubota or a side boom flail for one of the JDs.... I didn't realize how big some of those saplings were. You made the right choice going with the dozer. I've only operated a dozer a little bit but you are right...they are powerful. Its totally OK if, off camera, you were laughing maniacally and shouting "I have the POWAH!!" while pushing down those trees.... That would be very understandable. Some of those rocks were giants too. The fields look really good. Thanks for the extra long Saturday video!

That dozer work pretty slick got the job done pretty quick. Not sure if it would be cost-effective in your area but look into forestry mulching in your area. It’s a big grinding attachment we use on all tree lines next to field. Grinds all those trees in the mulch that overtime breaks down.

For unloading bulk bags, get a pallet and cut a hole in the bottom. Use you skid steer to lift it up like a normal pallet. Skid steer could lift high enough then, and maybe solve your reach problem.
Like other comments I think you choosing to use the Cat 953C was the right choice, those were some big saplings or trees you cleared there. I have to say, I liked how y'all walked around picking up rocks from the field. We did that back in the 70's and it makes you appreciate the lay of the field and the effort you take to clean it. Instead of pushing brush into the tree line next time try going parallel to fence and pushing all trees and branches to the end. Much better clean up. Pile everything up and burn. Till into the soil. Farm is really looking great going into fall.
We used to either rent or borrow an empty hard plastic seed tote from a seed dealer or local coop. We would empty the bag into the tote then lift the plastic tote with our skid steer over the drill. They have a slide on the bottom that opens in the center of the box. It's also nice if you have leftover seed it keeps the mice and other animals out of the seed.
Enjoyed watching you use the bulldozer. I would have liked to use that also. Looks like fun. Fields look good. Fertilizing and seeding never stops on a farm. stay safe. Good luck to Elizabeth and her internship. she'll learn from the best.
That is what we do clean around the fields all the debris away from the field and crop. We cleaned ours every other two months with chain saws and tractor scoop manure spreader to haul the brush to the brush piles to burn. Looking real good love the scenery and music is not bad . Since you cleared away the debris from field you got another bid roll to plant .

I use to run a 977 crawler loader for a paving company. It was a freacking monster. Tracks hit me almost at my chest and I’m 2 inches away from 6ft tall. At one time I was prepping a driveway and just scooped up and carried off a tree. Base of the tree was like 10inches around give or take. Wasn’t very tall also the newer crawler loaders are basically giant skid steers they have quick change attachments on them so you can do all kinds of stuff with me pallet forks, grapples, literally all kinds of stuff. Also straight pipe the Deere pulling the seeder!!
Just a bit north of you in NY... every spring we have frost-heaved rocks, they're called NYS potatoes here. The worse the winter, the bigger the crop. Love the new farm hand, you can include more of her if you want.
If you like running that dozer you would love to run my D9 it has a 15 foot blade and can push any size tree down well almost any. It is a lot of fun to run. Farmers are great people but it is a hard life, lots of work but lots of reward.

You need to look into feeding those trees to the cattle! Research has shown that up to 20% feed of ground up brush can be added with no production loss & low amounts 10% actually increased production!
when i was farming i always used a sickle bar mower in the fall and went around all the field edges and mowed down anything that was growing in even in the pastures

Another great video, some thoughts on loading seed. One thought was to weld up some sort of rig that goes on the forklift blades that would lift the bags higher and extend them out a ways from the forklift, always a concern with the forklift tipping over due to the weight of the load so that would be a concern. Another thought was to modify some sort of tote that fits on the forklift blades that has some sort of dumping spout system so that you could direct the seeds to where you wanted via a hose or something might be a thought, or lastly using a chain hoist of some sort on an I-beam with rollers hung in the air so the bag could be rolled left to right after it's lifted and you could move the drill underneath it, probably the safest way to go. Would involve a little bit of engineering and some building but it could be a fun project. Keep the fantastic videos coming, I learn a lot from them as a non-farmer, all knowledge is good.
We have a 450 Case track loader( which is probably 1/3 of that CAT) and it is awesome. I’m lucky enough to have been running it for years but I think everyone should spent a day messing with something like these machines. Great video Eric
I've ran a 450 track loader many hours, for no bigger than what they are, they are pretty nice little machine. The smaller size makes them nice to get into tighter situations and hauling is much easier. If a guy knows how to run them properly you can really do alot of work.
Being used to digging in the rockless soil of the South Carolina Lowcountry, I was amazed by the number and size of the rocks y'all were picking up. Good video. You surely did get back some extra field after taking up those bushes.
You used the forklift to load from the side. I couldn't see why you just didn't load from the back? Are the trailing wheels too far back for the forks to reach past?
Here's an idea. Instead of using the skid loader to move those big rocks and/or boulders, use a truck with an attached crane. Would make it easier to pick up, load, and unload the rocks and boulders onto and off of the truck. Also, this type of truck wouldn't mess up your garden as badly as when you was using the skid loader. Just a thought.
Eric.....can your pallet forks slide to the middle and be removed( usually a notch in bottom rail) , inverted and put back on??? that may give you the height needed provided the lift capacity is there.
We use an old Hardee pull type sprayer with a 300 gallon tank and two flood nozzles mounted on a vertical bar. Every year after harvest we take it around the tree lines and spray roundup. It kills the brush and small trees to keep the wood line in check.

We had a similar problem with the bulk bad of fertilize. We ended up making our own pallet with a hole in the center so we could still get the height we needed as well as access the hole to empty it out. Little aggravating to swap it to swap pallets but it works pretty good to empty the big bags.
There is a center hole in the tote. You can open it and use that instead of cutting the side and using cardboard. They also have a type of punch that you can drop the tote on the top of (like a spike) and it has a control valve for on and off.
The Dozer is doing a pretty good job but a hedge cutter might be better at pushing the hedge back as they could spring back. Most Excavators have hedge cutting attachments.

You need to run a root ripper along the edge of that tree line. Will help keep the trees back and keep them from taking moisture from your crops.

I used to work with super sacks daily and we had a clamp for the bottom spout to control the flow.
Definitely are rocks. Some landscapers would be over the moon with those rocks

We run a bush hog around all our fields every winter. Crazy how fast those miserable little trees grow during the summer.
