I loved this game as a kid! If I were given the reigns to make a Traveller's Tales style LEGO game, it'd be derived from this. Pretty much the same set up of a fan trying to break into the movie industry by becoming a stuntman. The levels would be divided by the films, which would all be various genres. Westerns, historic epics, disaster movies, crime noir etc. (Which in turn would be based off the various themes sets LEGO has come out with over the years.)
My friend told me about this rumor that if you jump enough on the cars roof you can acually get the car and drive it around. I will confirm that that is not true cause as a kid, I spent forever trying to do it. Would have been a cool feature though if they ever make an updated remake of this game.
So, I played this game 'back in the day', and I remember the chapter 2 movie set being really dark (so the wires etc. were a little more hazardous). That "glow" (8:47) might be something that broke but never got fixed in the various stack changes between then and now.
I absolutely LIVED on this game! I don’t know why but I could play it repeatedly, for what felt like a couple years! My terrible child brain definitely helped because I never remembered the puzzles and solutions, lol. I seriously adored it and was completely obsessed. I don’t recall a whole lot else about the website other than the almighty Junkbot! I guess I need to explore it more and see what things I can dredge up.
Hell yeah I played this game. The lego flash Jack Stone game was something I played all the time too, because I had (and still have) all the JS sets. I had truly terrible taste, I know. Town Jr., Jack Stone, and 9v train sets were what I had. If you don't know any better the first two seem pretty good. 9v trains were the shit though, those were great. All the cool sets with the glowing orange mountain tunnels in the background of the boxes. Good times. Still have most of those somewhere. Anyways, these games were fantastic. Junkbot, Junkbot too, that game was amazing. I still don't think I know how to beat the Trapped in the Deep Freeze level now that ~20 years have passed.
You can play this game with BlueMaxima's Flashpoint with very little setup. Playing it that way also fixes some graphical problems that occur on newer Nvidia cards. This webgame was developed by Templar Studios and was groundbreaking for being one of the very first to use Havok physics when it was new, which is why it's so keen on having physics based puzzles. But nowadays it kind of shows considering how difficult the platforming is
That's really interesting. Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I remember that game feeling so huge and impressive compared to the other 2D games on lego.com at the time. But it's definitely showing its age now.
Hey man, this video gave me a burst of nostalgia like none other. As difficult as life can be these days, it’s always good to remember the good old days. Thanks for bringing me back to a happier time!
Hey! I totally remember the old lego website profiles! You had little stars depending on how many friends you had, which turned green/gold/some other colours, you could build a 'brick wall' by doodling on a brick on each others' profiles and change the colour of your profile page which was made of brick! i TOTALLY remember it! would love to even just see a screenshot of it!
YES! That’s absolutely right! I just remember the very brick-like feel of these pages, like the whole page was made out of LEGO bricks. I still haven’t been able to find even a screenshot of it, but I’m glad to know someone else remembers.
I used to play this game on my browser back in the day. Still remember those painfully long load times due to the dial up connections. Also, wasn't fully aware the Bionicle cameo was Takua at the time (Hadn't beaten the Bionicle adventure game yet, or looked up spoiler cutscenes when I was already getting close to the end.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! I use to play this over and over with my brother, and we explored every inch of this game. Also Junkbot and that racing game were huge nostalgia bombs! What was the name of that racing game anyways?!
Ah yes, I remember playing this once. If you take the extra set of Johnny Thunder's clothes that the prop gun is in, and then wear them around for a while and then come back to the woman standing by where your clothesthen are, then she's like "DO YOU MIND? I HAVE TO GET THAT COSTUME TO (such and such place) IN FIVE MINUTES!" I'm not sure how long you have to wear the clothes for this to happen, or if you have to go through a building first.
Do you mean the Lego avatar thing? It had the word "avatar" in it and you could complete different tasks (Beehive for an example) on it and use some music clips and something like that. I remember getting stuck on that part where you need plastic pellets.
If you're still interested, I managed to find this game (and a bunch of other games from the old lego site) have been archived in the Flashpoint project. It's a project dedicated to preserving old flash games. bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/ That link shound bring you to the download for the archive.
The intro music is the elevator music from Pajama Sam 2: Thunder and Lightning Aren’t So Frightening. The music at 0:06 is “Park” from LEGO Island. Hope that helps!
It was a Lego Island photo album you could look through back when that site was live. It was pretty cool and gave some more background on the characters!
It can be viewed on a 2007 version of the Archive.org backup, but it's pretty hard to find. And you have to have some way to use Flash Player. Since I had access, I decided to record it and upload to TH-cam. You can see the whole scrapbook here - th-cam.com/video/us80dmPAt6w/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!
Anyone remember that Lego connect four game on lego.com? I think the game is as called lego brick master or something like that. Anyone remember the exact name?
@@theChubbyPirate The other day I got a sudden flashback to one of those flash games - I didn't remember this one as clearly as the others though, all I could recall was the art style, a bad guy (bandit) and that the action took place on a train - I couldn't recall how the game functioned but I would've guessed it was one of those "point & click" adventures. But then I started re-watching this video and noticed its icon appears at 0:34 - 'Trains: Tales of the Lego Express'... so I guess it wasn't even a game after all, which makes much more sense now. No footage of it anywhere though as far as I'm aware.
@@AntoniTolwinski Oh man, I didn't even notice that when I made the video! I used to love that game! Wow I have this game running now, That glow is indeed a bug. I played the whole game and it was super dark in there.

Same! I remember Junk Bot, and backlog and that's about it to.
I first learned about Stephen Spielberg through the whole Lego Studios line.
I regularly think about this game, and miss it so much. Glad to see others appreciate it!!
I played this as a kid but could never understand what to do, still super nostalgic though great video
I recommend checking out the Alpha Team Arctic Mission game. That was my jam back in those days.

I remember the custom pages you're describing, oh the nostalgia!
I definitely remember being able to make your own user page with different modules you could pick, I always liked the castle theme
The castle theme was my 5 year old jam

I only got as far as the coffee shop
