    Great looking burger. I'd rather try this than some of the other veggie alternatives.

      Thanks! My thought about making a veggie burger is that there are tons of great options available at the store now, it's almost pointless to try to reimagine one and have it not taste like a hay bail! And to make a veggie burger from scratch using beans, grains, rice, etc is a lot of work/time/ingredients. That's why this recipe is better. It's so easy, I think I could do it with my eyes closed! And it tastes friggin' amazing! -Happy grilling, Chef Britt

    With the price of beef I might have to resort to Bella Burgers. I’ve had them before and I was really surprised how “meaty” like the mushroom was. As usual, great video!

    I like that you point out alternatives for beef burgers, for the reasons you mentioned! Cutting on meat consumption is so important today, I know most people are furious when it gets to meatless meals, but besides this there are so much more great alternatives! I'd love to see more like this in the future. I eat meat myself by the way. ;)

      @@allthingsbbq you and Tom are fantastic, you should have your own cable TV show. 🙂 I'm from a Greek Cypriot family, and meat cooked on charcoal will always be my favourite thing to eat. So your content to me is really special. You continue to demonstrate how versatile and inclusive BBQ can be and you both have this genuine coolness and sense of humour and likeability that's really appealing to watch. Thank you and keep up the amazing work, your ever-increasing audience says it all.

    Hi Britt. What bun would you recommend for those of us on a Keto diet? BTW, great job on the video.

    • @allthingsbbq
      @allthingsbbq  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't ventured much into keto baking, but it all seems to function around the same ingredients. The best buns are probably the ones you make yourself. I see some interesting recipes out there that use cream cheese, eggs, and almond flour like this one: hip2keto.com/recipes/keto-buns/ (It calls for Italian seasoning, and there is none that taste better than the Italiano from Cattleman's Grill www.atbbq.com/sauces-and-rubs/rubs/all-purpose-rubs/cattleman-s-grill-italiano-seasoning.html). Hope this helps! -Chef Britt

    Could you use worcestershire sauce and beef brother (not sure if that's still considered vegetarian) instead of balsamic vinegar

    • @allthingsbbq
      @allthingsbbq  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! Even just Worcestershire would probably be really tasty. Both Worcestershire and beef broth are not vegetarian however! I think soy sauce would be pretty tasty, but it derails the Italiano seasoning I used. Portobellos are like little sponges, so anything you add is gonna stand out.

    • @crizz6397
      @crizz6397 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@allthingsbbq i was thinking trying to make it taste more like a burger with the Italian flavors. I didn't know worcestershire sauce wasn't vegetarian. Thankfully my bother isn't that strict of a vegetarian.

    Why did you heat the side burner?

    • @allthingsbbq
      @allthingsbbq  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suppose you could heat the cast iron skillet over the grill, but that infrared side burner heats up incredibly fast! I also needed it to heat to a different temp than what I was preheating my grill. It would've taken the whole process a little longer if I had to use cast iron over the grill side.

    Whoa, hold on! Did you just say you can eat them raw? That’s absolutely not correct and actually very poor advice as raw mushrooms are largely indigestible because of their very tough cell walls which contain Chitin! This doesn’t even take into consideration the fact that although mushrooms don’t inherently have anything in them that would need to be cooked off it goes without saying that you certainly don’t know what type of compost or growing medium they were grown in and what it could potentially contain. Mushrooms should without a doubt at the very least be seared off to draw out the moisture before consumption.
