I've done some blind tests and a well-poured regular can is pretty indistinguishable, what I will say though is that the pints are most consistently better out of the Nitrosurge than regular cans.
I bought one a week ago and have been playing around with it to try and match the fantastic Guinness that’s poured at my local pub. I think it’s a great bit of kit, the only thing I am struggling to replicate from a pub setting is the lacing of the head against the inside of the glass. The head will not stick and I am left with a clean glass as I drink it whereas in the pub the glass is absolutely drenched in the creamy head.
Okay, so there could be a couple of things going on here. First question is, are your tins cold enough when pouring? In general the head condition seems to be better the colder you get, though at a point it becomes too cold to enjoy the flavours so it's not always the solution. The more likely though is how are you washing your glassware - if using a dishwasher or heavy amounts of soap, some remnants of the soap can stay on the glass and whilst won't affect the taste noticeably, it can affect the lacing. Try using a small amount of soap and using properly hot water and elbow grease to get it clean, and rinsing multiple times with properly hot water (not boiling though, you might break the glass!) and see if that gets you any better results. Cheers!
@@TheCrumbyBeard I use it with the lidl thornbridge stout as I find it too fizzy. Makes the beer foam ridiculously but definitely smooths out the carbonation. I assume similarly to the fizzics type contraptions
I’ve never been in possession of one of those, seen loads of TH-camrs using them but I feel now I’ve missed the boat 🛶 another absolutely fantastic informative episode. I appreciate you cheers 🍻👍
I like beer and I like gadgets, and although I’m not a frequent Guinness drinker if I do have one at home then this is the only way I pour them now. Only downside I’ve seen is that if the cans get a slight knock or dent in them then the Nitrosurge can’t seal and that can is essentially ruined, as it just doesn’t pour or taste right poured without the device.
I've had mine for 4 or 5 months now - and I definitley think it adds to the Guinness drinking experiance. The beers are as close to a pub poured pint you can get. I only drink on a Friday or Saturday night so the extra cost for the cans doesn't really impact me too much.
Also, 4:18 I am sure Guinness themselves had said the 2 part pour is a gimmick, and a hangover from the past days of cask beers. So no shame in just going for a 1 part pour!
I have one, its great. My irish inlaws tell me that its common knowledge that you can just use a regular can of guinness (opened and left a little bit) and that works fine. I have not tried that. What i am a ittle confused over is the "splitting the G" thing. In 30+ years of commited guinness drinking, both in the UK and ireland i have never heard anyone mention it. Not once, apart from in a few you tube videos (this being one). As a further aside i got charged £6 for a (average) pint yesterday. £6 for a can thats every bit as good but in the comfort of my own home is a bargain IMO.
I haven't actually tried it with a standard Guinness can yet, but I certainly will! The splitting the G thing is absolutely stupid - I wanted to cut it out but it made the video not quite flow correctly. Seems to be something that's arrived with the recent influx in Guinness popularity with a younger audience. But as I said, it wasn't intentional 😂 Cheers!
I love the nitrosurge, it pours a way better pint than draught can and you get a full pint! Guinness is a great session Stout. I've had way better pints in pubs, but I've had way worse.
For sure, there's always better out there - difficult to find many genuinely great ones that are in constant production and easily accessible though unfortunately.
I don't think it'd end well as the Nitrogen itself has to be in the beer to start with. The Nitrosurge tap just gets it more evenly activated as you pour. Cheers!
Seems to just be a feeling of a better pint. Yet to see someone be able to clearly tell the difference compared to a regular can

@ thank for the advice 🙂
I agree. I do a single pour and get better results. Use it for any nitro beer. Also put over carbonated beers through it to calm them down a bit.
Never tried it with a non-nitro, would be an interesting test!

Cheers Rick! The boat is still very much floating - get yourself one and give it a go!
Good reviewer. Earned a subscribe
Cheers! Much appreciated 🍻
Love it! Will defo try a 1 pour next time 👌

I'd never considered that issue re: dented cans - deffo something to watch out for. Cheers!
Subscribed 🍺 great review brother
Thank you Sir! Much appreciated. Cheers!
Great video mate . I’m still yet to do the one part pour , but I will do it now lol . Cheers 🍻
Haha cheers bud! Let me know how you get on!
I use my nitro Surger often. I use it with the nitrosurge can & regular Guinness & Camden stout. 👍🍻
I haven't tried the Camden stout with it yet! Probably worth a go with the can I have left as unlikely to buy many more 😅 - Cheers!

Oh interesting. They were definitely still pushing it with the marketing for this!

Enjoyed your video, better stouts out there, even with this Guinness surger
With 4% ABV? Better stouts I know are all much stronger. Guinness for me is the perfect session Stout.

Can you nitro a original Guinness? I wonder 🤔
