      Trying to up my game. No doubt in a year or so I'll probably look back at these videos and go "Oh I should have edited that differently... " but it's all progress.

    Another fine repair!... I also like the fact that you apply conformal coating to your wire repair sites.. Good on ya!

      Yes, sometimes it's good to use it; at least it's cheap and easy to apply.

    I have the same system, however I noticed this to be a common issue. The mag is orange, unit will not boot up. Battery is 0v. If I plug another battery in the system will boot till it dies. However the system will not boot with the mag connected. Anybody has any ideas? No corrosion what so ever on this system. I also get 3.4V at the power debug button.

    Hi Paul, curious to know from where you get the logic board schematics

      Just search “MacBook Air [model number] board schematic” on google. The model number is the starting with A. For example, a 15” Touch Bar MacBook Pro is A7107.

    Fairly new subscriber thanks to Louis. Have no idea about fixing motherboards at component level, but find your stuff interesting to watch.
    Edit - Any idea why Apple got rid of magsafe - seems like a step backwards to me ?

      You're absolutely right about the loss of the magsafe being a step backwards. I suspect they disposed of it because it's more compact to use a USB-C connector. User safety/hazard-reduction/laptop-durability definitely were not important criterion to them it seems.

    My A1466 was encountering a ram problem according to a apple hardware check. Te mac store offeed to replace the logic board for $1100 US. I read somewhere that High Sierra can cause this so...I went back to an older OS. All is good now. I hate Apple...

    Paul, sorry about bothering, have an issue with an 820-3437a stuck booting, I think me region, any suggestions?

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try a BIOS ROM with a clean ME region and copy your serial # in to it and burn to a new chip? Though if it's trying to boot ( as opposed to just not turning on ) it could be something else. I don't have enough experience on that one.

      i have tried but doesn't work, I think it's a common issue on 820-3437 820-000165, I have 3 of them, same symptoms, stuck almost finishing the os loading bar...

      thanks Paul, tried several bios dumps and I think I cleaned ME but board to the trash, I wanna thank you, I live in Venezuela and we have a hard situation here, saying the least, but thanks to you and your software I have been able to repair lots of boards and provide to my family, neighbors and even friends some help with food, money and medicines, you have no idea of how much you help and change peoples lives, I will try to buy in some time your new software, because your truly deserve a retribution, thanks seriously friend!

    is the fuse (F1740) a slow burn,normal burn or a fast burn? i would think a fast burn,but i prefer a confirmation from you.Thanks

    • @pldaniels
      @pldaniels  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While it's not specified in the type, I would definitely err to it being fast-blow. The inrush current that usually you might compensate for with a medium/slow is already managed by the earlier stages of the DCIN.

    Dam that corrosion acted like ferric chloride, evil stuff.
    You could do with more like that :-D.
    Great that you hit record while repairing, just in case.

      It really does have quite a reach, what ever it was/is. I forgot to have the wireless mic on when doing the actual repair work, which is why it ended up being dubbed over and x4 speed, though in some ways I prefer it now :)
