    Nice. I would really like being able to preset speeds and hit a button.

    Nice lathe! I'm thinking about getting the smaller version - Nova Neptune, bench top model. I'm on the "fence" regarding direct drive lathes. I understand about all the advantages. Tell me one disadvantage to direct drive. Thank you.

      Honestly, I have yet to find a disadvantage on the direct drive motor. To be able to go from 50 - 4000 rpm without messing with a belt and still have plenty of power is totally awesome! Thanks for watching.

    Mine has more damage than yours on the front. Just unloaded it today and I’m working out the kinks, can’t wait to get started.

      Congrats on the new lathe. Sorry to hear about the damage on it. Hopefully it's just cosmetic. I suppose I could take the feet off mine to lower it but my shop floor is not perfectly flat. My 2" platform works well.
      I've turned a couple bowls on it so far and it's an absolute dream to turn with it. Thanks for watching.

    A strong contender for my next lathe - which may be soon if I can't get my present lathe repaired.

      I still highly recommend it after using it for about 9 months. Thanks for watching.

    Looks like great lathe how’s it holding up after a year

      I still like it as much as I did on day one. It has held up incredibly well so far, and I've turned and cored some very large pieces. Thanks for watching.

    Hi Henry. Great video. I am intending buying a Nebula. Could you help me out with a couple of things. First of all how heavy is the tailstock? Secondly, how big a bowl can be turned without an outrigger if the headstock is rotated through, say, 45 degrees?

    • @woodturningwithhenry
      @woodturningwithhenry  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Peter, Thank you for watching. The tail stock is maybe 40 - 50 lbs. The largest piece I've ever turned was a piece of sycamore, approximately 19" - 20" in diameter, which was mounted on a faceplate with the headstock rotated out and then turned down until it cleared the lathe bed.

    If it’s high try to adjust the legs all the way down.

    Very nice lathe. Who did you order it from?

      Thanks for watching.
      I ordered mine through Spiracraft. spiracraft.com/
      Bradley McCalister from Spiracraft was fantastic to work with! He has two more Nebulas coming on the next shipment in Feb, I believe.
      Best wishes.

      @@woodturningwithhenry Thanks for the info. I just found Bradley's video of this lathe.

    Hi Henry,
    Hope you enjoy the lathe. If you want to email the service department and mention me in it, I'll see about getting replacements for the damaged parts. I'm the head US Engineer and Customer Service manager. Being the first shipment, we're working with the manufacturer about packaging changes to stop this. As for the 220V, I would not cut the cable, just make a 6" conversion cable with a female 110V and a matching 220V. Then use 6" os 12AWG. I can send you those instructions also. Outrigger and bed extension should be Q1 of 2023 last I knew.

      Hi Rich,
      Thank you for reaching out to me. Yes, I'm enjoying the new lathe very much! It operates so smooth and quiet! As for the damage, it's only cosmetic and very minor. They could add some additional padding/packaging between the bed and the legs in the crate, which should fix this issue.
      As for the 220 conversion. Yes, I like the idea of just making a conversion cable instead of cutting the cord. I saw Bradley McCalister did that, so I plan to copy what he did.
      Thanks again.

      Hey Rich! Interested in buying this one too. But got a question: can you shorten the start up time on the remote?

    • @richdbolduc
      @richdbolduc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thekokomoslim What do you mean by shorten the startup time? How fast it takes to get to full speed?

    • @Thekokomoslim
      @Thekokomoslim ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richdbolduc i mean you have to hold that button for almost 2 seconds to start up. I was hoping to get that instantly

    • @richdbolduc
      @richdbolduc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Thekokomoslim Ahhh that. Start/Stop and speed are all done wirelessly and shut themselves off on the remote. The delay is there to make sure you don't accidently bump it on or off and also to verify the communication. The only reason there is a wire is for the estop

    5 foot 8 and its too high.. seems pretty annoying. Im the same height. How do you like it so far?

    • @woodturningwithhenry
      @woodturningwithhenry  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mrPauljacob I built a 2" platform to stand on, which makes it a very comfortable height for me. I've had the lathe for almost 2 years now, and I still like it as much as I did on day one. Zero regrets!

      On the market for a lathe and had same question, I'm also 5.8, well my wife keep reminding me that I was, back 30 years ago, now that I'm 71 I shrunk!😮 Not sure which part of me she refers to, and will not dare to ask!😂😂 Thanks! Back to lathe choices, under $3500, which one do you lean to or have opinion? @@mrPauljacob
