    It just took me 70 years to realize almost none of it was essential to myself as a person or my mind. Whew!
    Now it's all gone except me and what "I" find essential!
    Love your videos !💖

      Thank you so much and wow what a story! I have deep respect for such a drastic change after 70 years! I'm so happy to hear how you changed your mind and life and are focusing on what is essential to you right now. Keep up the good job! :)

      I’ll be 62 in 2 months and I’m just now figuring it out. What a great way to end the year and start a fresh one!

    I like the minimalist lifestyle because it puts me in a position where I can help other people. Each time I choose not to spend money on myself, a way is made to help someone else. If I had no income, I wouldn’t be able to help. I prefer to be on the helping side.

    It is my birthday month. I make a small list of things that I would not normally splurge on: good espresso beans, pair of shoes, a nice linen dress, beautiful writing paper. I enjoy finding just the right item but people are aghast that I do not shop all year and wait for the sweetness of my birthday. I will have to order in for my favorite foods on my birth day, but the deliciousness will still be enjoyed. We plan on going to a local hiking trail, so I can get some great photos. I do get my son 3 things at Christmas, we mostly travel and we are very happy this way. I live a slower paced life, one that does not see me checking things off a list everyday to accomplish. Yesterday, I bought the nourishing food for my family, cleaned it all and put it away. Then we spent the afternoon reading and creating and watching a movie. We are actively purging things from our home. It's simple, clean and comfortable. I have my career set up so I go to my job, I do enjoy what I do, and I come home. I can seem aloof or snooty to some, but I just do not enjoy drama, gossip and getting into small, unnecessary things that cause stress. I have even been bullied at work, by grown women, because they think I am boring. They do not know how rich my life is, nor do I need their approval or to show them. I wear comfortable yet considered quirky clothing. It makes me happy. You are a breath of fresh air in this world!

      I loved reading your story. It is so beautifully described, and also very inspirational, that was lovely. 💛 Thank you for sharing that. Such a beautiful way to live and to look at things. I love how you live a slower paced life with your family and how you know what you like and can really enjoy those things. I can recognize a lot of the things you mention about not liking drama, gossip and small unnecessary things. And also being bullied for 'being boring' and not needing their approval/show them. It all sounds so familiar to me. Enjoy your birthday/birthday month! But I'm sure that will be alright, so many wonderful things planned 🌞🌻

    Beautifully articulated! I have struggled with my minimalism journey, because I am surrounded by people who are materialistic and "busy" all of the time. This pandemic, while a devastating moment in our current events, has really helped me get back on my journey. I enjoy watching your videos, as they provide positive insight to my journey.

    • @AnjasArtWorld
      @AnjasArtWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much and that's so nice to hear! Also, good to hear about your minimalism journey. I know, our surroundings and environments are so important. One of the reasons I often need to take a step back is indeed because of the fact that the busyness of my surrounding is affecting me. I definitely understand how that is impacting you. And I also agree with what you said about the pandemic. It's devastating but can also give a moment to really reflect on things and I think a lot of us needed some time and space to think and rest as well. Of course as devastating as the situation was and still is, situations and moments like this can also make you reflect and rethink about life paths, priorities and what is important to you. Wishing you good luck on your minimalism journey and keep up the good work! :)

    Really well said! I resonate with everything you said here. I have been on a Minimalism journey for the past 3 years. I still have too many things but Ive gotten rid of almost 2/3 of my belongings. Crazy thing about it is that I dont miss it at all!
    I find that what I have in my room directly reflects my inner peace. Its such a good feeling when you know where every thing is placed. Like you dont have to guess whats hiding in the corner of your closet for example. I think as humans, we all have limitations on how much stuff we can properly take care of. Adjusting the number of possessions based on your own personal limitations can greatly improve your quality of life, productivity and happiness.

      Thank you so much! And I'm happy to hear that it resonated with you :) Also good to hear about your minimalism journey and how far you got, 2/3 is so much! Good to hear that your room now reflects your inner peace, that is so important :) Yes, I know it's so strange but indeed most of the times we don't even miss the belongings we decluttered. And very well said, I also think that reducing the amount of stuff you own can increase your quality of life and indeed that everyone has their own personal limitations.

I came across your channel a few days ago and you've really helped me to rethink and reevaluate where I am in my minimalism journey, and have helped me be able to feel like I'm moving forward again in my intentions and minimalism. Love your bunny by the way! :)

    I think the disciplined pusuit of less is so important. Minimalism forces you to stop and re-examine your life. It is an exercise in searing self honesty and it throws up both problems but also simple and elegant solutions to these problems. Thank you this was a thought provoking and honest video.

      Yes, I can relate to that. For me it was also still 'too much' even as a minimalist. It's a journey, for some of us the destination maybe lies a bit further :)

    Enjoyed your video, How do you manage art supplies and the years of accumulated art you created?

    • @AnjasArtWorld
      @AnjasArtWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, and a good question! I hold on to them for years and years but eventually I have let go of all the things I still had, everything I have made and also all the materials. I just kept the pictures on my harddrive and in a cloud. Luckily there were some things that I did not have to store, because I was focused on public art the last couple of years; like sculptures I made for cities and I did some community art (just social interaction with people) but even that was still bothering me, not so much in a ' material things' way (although I had to use tons of chemical materials to create some sculptures which I did not want do anymore) but more in an energy/time used inefficient way. So now I'm switching to projections and making videos :) and I'm not keeping anything anymore.

    Your channel is very inspiring, what especially resonated with me is when you said the outside world is distracting enough to have distractions come inside your home. It is so true!
    I am not an extreme minimalist, however I like the idea. Furthermore, I have realized that I always feel the need to declutter more and more, and that I don't really feel attached to my things. Let's see where this journey brings me!
    I am struggling with my current possessions. There are items that I don't feel content to own, even though they are useful to me. I always try to go for local and eco-friendly options, however I recently had to move house and went for the easiest way of getting things (instead of having to order to small producers: pieces of pottery, hand-weaved towels). And now I feel guilty every time I use them. Should I invest in more durable products that would align with my values and donate those that I feel guilty of having? I feel that passing them on to someone would not change the fact that I bought Chinese products.. I live in South East Asia where people would need them for sure so that's better than nothing I suppose!

    • @AnjasArtWorld
      @AnjasArtWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much and I am so happy to hear that some of the things resonated with you as well! I understand your struggles with the products that you describe. I have had the exact same issue with some of the stuff I had. It's important to be easy, gentle and forgiving with yourself, you know we all sometimes buy or have bought things we later wished were different. For me as well quality and story of product/local/ecofriendly is very important especially because I am one of those people who is very sensitive to energies of objects as well. And every time I loot at it or use it it reminds me of where it came from or it has a slightly negative connotation to me which does affect my daily life. For me it was difficult as well to decide whether I should replace them but then felt guilty because I wasn't even using them up. There is no right or wrong answer whatever you decide to do with the products, and feeling good is important so don't feel guilty about that. Also, mistakes are part of life and are forgivable :) I still to this day sometime buy things that I regret. It's part of life and every time I learn a little bit more from it (and sometimes I need a lesson quite often! haha) I hope you can get rid of the guilt you feel and decide what feels best to do with those products. And I'm sure you can make the decision that feels the best to you :)

    • @AnjasArtWorld
      @AnjasArtWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment, and nice to hear you like less as well. Of course, you can have anything you want and as little or as much as you wish and feels good to you :) That's the most important thing. There are no rules and everyone has their own needs and wants. You can have as many couches or comfy chairs as you want or just one or none, it's all up to you 💛
