  • This tune spooked me when I was a kid. I found it even more disturbing than the music to Doctor Who :o) I hope I've done it justice.

    Absolutely brilliant. It sounds as if the piece were written for the classical guitar. Masterfully played, haunting and brings back a llot of memories ! Nick Young (John in The Tomorrow People).

    Stunning and haunting at the same time, would not see out of place in a contempoary spaghetti western. This is what happens when you give a well loved piece of music to an accomplished and talented musician, and let him interprit it his way.
    Well smegging done there Steve.

    This is absolutely brilliant! The best theme tune ever performed fantastically. I didn't think it would work without any synth but I was wrong. I can't stop listening to this! I also liked the version you did with Nicholas Young.

    Hello Nick:). Just wanted to say I also have fond memories of the original show. I wish it would come back, with modern budgets and effects it could be brilliant. This version of the theme is just terrific.

    You've done a lot with this, and added more dimensions to it; made it all moody; and sweet and sour and more tangy--like a tango! ♫ ♫ ♪

    Outstanding. Love it when people do a good theme cover and augment it with a real feeling for the original like this. One doesn't have to be slavish but you've gotta 'get' the thing that made it so good in the first place. Like here. This 70s child approves the groove.

    • @SixStringSteve
      @SixStringSteve  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 70s child! This tune freaked me out when I was a child, 40 years later I find myself covering it. I've had the great pleasure of doing a cover of it with Nick Young who played John in the original series, if you're curious you'll find it on my channel, and Nick's. luv from London

      Yes, I saw that vid, I thought that was excellent of him. Seems like a good-humoured fellow. There was this quite unsettling thing about 70s tv themes - Sapphire and Steel, Tales of the Unexpected, Armchair Thriller, Callan - even Picture Box was slightly odd. A good place to go for this kind of music is Jonny Trunk's OST Show on Resonance FM (in London) 4.30pm on Saturdays. He features retro soundtrack music basically and often features British tv/sci-fi/horror library and soundtrack of the 60s/70s period.

    • @SixStringSteve
      @SixStringSteve  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, the 70s was full of disturbing stuff - all the ones you mentioned (TOTU was/is amazing) also Lizzy Dripping I have a vague memory of - a girl who befriended a witch. I was too young to see many episodes of it, but the memory lingers. Armchair thriller was really freaky, the Hammer House of Horror series also. Sapphire and Steel was strange but enchanting. They don't make 'em like that anymore! :(

    Both this and the dr who theme were composed by delia Derbyshire.

    • @MeTube3
      @MeTube3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not true. The Tomorrow People theme was Dudley Simpson. Dr Who theme was by Ron Grainer.
      BBC musician Delia Derbyshire arranged and recorded Dr Who but had no part in Tomorrow People, which was ITV/Thames Television.

    • @davepax982

      Dudley did some of the incidental music throughout most of the 70's but never wrote or had anything to do with the theme to Doctor Who.
