      He can't win. The conservative Supreme Court has ruled that police have no duty to protect citizens. Since they have no legal duty to protect you, you can't sue them when they don't.

    The police chief should be sacked NOW!!!
    He is a total disgrace and has failed every single citizen in the city apart from the shooter.
    And the mayor is talking out from his backside not understanding and knowing ANYTHING about police work.
    Just trusting some nonsense his police chief has told him.
    I have worked in law enforcement for 20+ years and I would feel VERY ashamed of working under that police chief.

      They have "tried" to arrest the man for months prior to the shooting and after the shooting they still needed days to arrest him.
      They even didn't try to arrest him directly after the shooting and only attempted to do so after outcry from the public and council members.

    Reporter looked like the adult version of Penny from Inspector Gadget grown up. But, how in the h3ll does it take a year and getting shot to "de-escalate" anything? There is no logic behind the process. Any day in the year the reports had been coming in, someone with a little sense (apparently more than anyone in the local PD), could have stepped in or interceded in the situation and found out what was really going on, instead of hiding behind "We were attempting to de-escalate a situation in a residential neighborhood". Looks like sitting on their hands would be a more accurate description

    Ok, now help me understand: why was a private citizen, clearly peaceful and minding his own business and getting on with his life - subjected to all these months of living in fear? Why was nothing done, beforehand? And no steps were taken to intervene, to speak to the hostile neighbor BEFORE it escalated to this. Anyone with the remotest understanding, knows that mental health issues, if left untreated - things can escalate to dangerous levels. Which they did, here.
