As a truck driver(owner operator sooo...part time mecanic aswell lool)sometimes the mechanics job feels like a masochist's dream come true....pain...pain....PAIN....and a few minutes of pleasure at the end....
Ha ha ha my main issue is to alleviate boredom, if I can make things fun I'm happy, things soon become less of a pain when you speed through it... It's usually how fast can I do this today. I think that's another reason I started filming the jobs as it was another way to stay interested.
Hey John, that temp sensor had me but it's standard practice on these construction chassis jobs. The trucks are only 3 years old 🫣. I seem to be having a run of them recently
ha ha ha I've just been watching Downie live go to a mine in a Kenworth c509. I'm sure it cost 7k in fuel to do the trip!! All I can say is you would need to be paying some good wages if that's how much fuel costs down under 😅😅😅😅
Next time save yourself a bit of time Russell, just pull the small coolant pipes from the engine side and put a small piece of cloth in it you hardly lose any coolant at all. with the seventh injector coolant pipe if you cable tie high enough it won’t leak, and a bit of cloth in the seventh injector water way. We don’t drain them at all. You lose about half a litre of coolant.
Hey Tim, thanks for the comment. I don't know why but I've always dropped the coolant BUT Now you have me thinking about it.....I might just go measure the holes in this old unit and print some blanks with o rings to put in the block and the EGR!!!! Cheer buddy
Done few ecu lately seems they made o choco and our local daf has them in stock so must be common fault but wont admit it 🤣 . You seem sooo full of energy doing your job just hope stays the same when the rain n snow arrives 🤣 keep up the graft 👍
Hey, thanks for the comment buddy. I'm currently programming another ECU now LOL As for being full of energy, I've just smashed my week-old monitor on the van so things are going downhill fast ha ha ha
🤣🤣🤣 you should keep 1 on stock but if daf anything like edinburgh then they got most in so no need to. Great that you on move all time and would think your very busy due to trade with lack of mechanics and good ones at it,very rare someone with experiance sharing keep up the graft 👍👍👍
Well, we made it to Tuesday 😂😂😂😂 BUT I didn't have time to include Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! Jobs you missed out on were me going back to the NOX sensor job, a daf LF seat repair, an mx-11 ebs-3 ecu diagnostic and programming, another mx-11 injector, a alternator diagnostic/ repair, an abs modulator valve diagnostic and adblue pump diagnostic and rebuild...I think that was it! These jobs will find their way into the private group over on the truck tech UK forum or maybe even here one day!
Its a set I've had for years, I've been importing all types so far but I just can't find any that live up to the functionality of these! guess they don't make them like they used to!
When the truck gets hot the ECU develops an open circuit which means it won't run or start. When it cools down it will start again. Paccar rectified this with a more robust manufacturing process and introduced the replacement of the ECU rubber bushes every 3 years. The best way to repair this issue is to replace the OLD ECU with a new one and program it through jaltest
But mate . I wonder what went wrong with the engine ECU. I think noting is wrong with it ,i think the chip in the ECU soldering is lossen by the hsat of the engine on a realy hot day. I don’t know if thats true but in my country i let the client remove the silence cover on the engine to let it get some mix cold air .because its expensive here to replace one
Oh there is a manufacturing issue with them, they have been made more robust now, and the ECU rubbers are replaced every 3 years now to stop any issues
It doesn't need to run cooler. It's set to run at the correct optimum temperature to maximise efficiency. Messing about with thermostats (don't think they make lower-temperature ones) would only increase fuel consumption and lead to issues possibly with the cylinder temperatures

Very good job again! Looks a bloody nightmare that BPV unit!! You make it look
Easy bro 😆👍 excellent knowledge too cheers mate
hey buddy hope you are well. They aren't too bad when you have changed 3 in 2 weeks ha ha I'm glad you have enjoyed the video 😄

Some nice jobs to look at ..That BPV unit was not easy to change
But all done and dusted . 👍👍👍👍👍

Great 👍
Thank you 👍
Great work as always.👍
Thank you! 👌😎
U have to relocate to Australia mate!!Stuff the pommie weather!!!Do quite a few of Daf`s in my workshop...

Thanks buddy and thanks for watching 👀 😎
One of those jobs (BPV) you need to have done a dozen times before and at least once in the last month.
3rd one in 2 weeks. The sooner i get this workshop set up, the sooner we can re-manufacture them at a 2k discount
great video mate
Thanks buddy
Thank you.
No problem buddy. Thanks for the comment
Who bro Great jobe
Cheers buddy and thanks for watching 👀 👍
Last year I move one XF460 to Daf service, with ECU+immo+key from other same XF.
Hi thanks for the comment, I suggested this the other day to a customer. Did you still get a configuration error on the DIP?
@@TRUCKTECHUKYes,configuration error all the time in red.
That will be the chassis number miss match I think in VECU compared to PCI
@@TRUCKTECHUK Did Jaltest asked you for vehicle property documents and agree of the owner, because of the antitheft?
👍👍👍
thank you buddy👋😎
The BPV in a construction chassis is one pain in the ass Russ ,Rather you that me ..
That's the 3rd one in the last 2 weeks I've done on a CF tipper 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣
Hi friend. Jaltest 24.2 version support DAF EURO 6 Tupe FT XF. H4EN3?
nice work Russ great video 👍👍 i saw you measure pad wear with jaltest can you do that on the Davie ?
Hey steve, yes buddy. Everything on jaltest is the same as davie so you would see them available to you in live data buddy.
@@TRUCKTECHUK nice one Russ don't know why Daf don't put it on the steering wheel or stalk like some other trucks 👍👍

Get them longer videos out!
Ha ha ha I could have gone over an hour this week but I just don't have the time to put them in a video 🫣🫣🫣
What de-pin tools do you use please?
Its a set I've had for years, I've been importing all types so far but I just can't find any that live up to the functionality of these! guess they don't make them like they used to!
Hey my question is what was the problem with old ECU you can't reflash or to write a new file.
When the truck gets hot the ECU develops an open circuit which means it won't run or start. When it cools down it will start again.
Paccar rectified this with a more robust manufacturing process and introduced the replacement of the ECU rubber bushes every 3 years.

Oh there is a manufacturing issue with them, they have been made more robust now, and the ECU rubbers are replaced every 3 years now to stop any issues
But mate isn there a way to make the truck a bit Cooler with the temperature to put a more low thermostate or it's all set in factory way
It doesn't need to run cooler. It's set to run at the correct optimum temperature to maximise efficiency. Messing about with thermostats (don't think they make lower-temperature ones) would only increase fuel consumption and lead to issues possibly with the cylinder temperatures
@TRUCKTECHUK ok bro .I understand it
How you program the new PCI?
Hi, thanks for the comment. I used Jaltest Central services to do it.
am very happy Jaltest is programming this unit now.pls how much does it cost for Jaltest to program PCI ?
It's £272 for every time they program an ECU on daf
Ok thank you 🙏🏿
