This skit drives me to tears every time I watch it. It’s a combination of visual and audio hilarity, his awkward stare at his could be new boss, and the flawless orchestra of wooden parts creaking. The sound of the door breaking is what kills me every time
The writing is incredible. Like there’s so many points the skit could stop and be funny, but they squeeze every bit of funny out of every skit and it’s damn near perfect. Best sketch shows since Chappelle have been Gilly & Keeves and I Think You Should Leave
yea this was the first sketch of the show, unfortunately it seemed to go downhill from there. he's funny in an awkward way but wastes a lot of it on weird ass potty humor that just sort of misses the mark, at least in my opinion

Funniest thing is that the door in real life actually does open in the direction Tim is pulling. You can see by where the handle and the hinges are placed at the end of the sketch.
This is one of the best opening sketches of all time, simply because it's a test of how you'll respond to the show itself. If you grimace and it annoys you, you're not part of the Turbo Team. Tim Robinson? He is a man of focus, commitment, sheer will... something you know very little about. I made a deal with him. I gave him an Impossible Task. A job no one could have pulled off: to pull open a door that was only push open. The door he opened that day laid the foundation of what we are now.
Remember the video of the toddler who was eating an onion that he thought was an apple? Tears streaming down his face but he keeps taking bites because he won’t admit he was wrong. Same energy.
I've read dozens...maybe hundreds of academic research papers on the subject of vulnerable narcissism. I honestly feel this sketch conveys the nature of the beast both in how it feels inside the mind of the sufferer...the lives of the people who interact with one...and the effects it can have on their lives and also on the world around them as succinctly as anything possibly could. And with a kind of sad yet hilarious empathy rather than snide superiority. This is a fucking brilliant sketch. Funny as fucking hell, too.
