I started to watch your videos about 6 months ago. Today we are in Toledo and we will visit Avila tomorrow. Your videos are very well done and helpful. Muchas gracias.
What did you think of Avila? I’ve heard some people say to skip it and go to Segovia or Toledo. I was thinking Avila and Segovia in sane day, but I don’t want to be rushed.
@@stardroplet9499 Ávila is a spectacular destination, we recommend one full day, and if possible, one night, to enjoy it to the maximum. Has more content than Segovia.
I was born here and my grandparents live here, but I haven't lived here for a long time so this video is a pretty good way of showing my friends what it's like
Thank you Tony, very nice video and information, we will be travelling to Avila and staying for 2 nights now (after seeing your video added a night) next month as part of our 3 week roadtrip from Madrid. We'll look forward to seeing more of your videos, especially multi day trips
I must say you do an amazing job. One of the best sites of it’s kind that I have found over the las three months. We hope to visit Spain in late September or October. All the best to both of you.
I’ve just found your series of videos, some friends and I had planned a motorcycle trip to Spain and Portugal in 2020, but unfortunately Covid put a stop to that , however we have just booked to return in 2024, I will be showing your informative videos to my travelling companions. Fair to say we can’t wait to revisit Spain, we did a trip a few years ago for my wife’s 50th birthday riding from Caen to Pamplona ( where my daughter did a years study), but feel we needed to delve further into central Spain, so looking forward to it. Thanks Tony
Thank you so much I really enjoyed the video. So informative and comperehensive for a foreign visitor. I' m gonna watch all the other ones before I make my Spanish bucket list 😍 Subscribed👍
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
We only spent half of a rainy day in Avila and are hoping to go back this June. Another thing to consider; If my research is correct, you can also get to El Escorial by train from Avila.
Hola Tony !!! 😃 How I wished your videos existed before I got to visit Spain a few years back… Then I wouldn’t feel sorry now, that I missed out on so many sites. I got to visit Avila, but didn’t get to spend enough time to see the other interesting sites. I did get to visit the church of Sta Teresa de Jesus, and the Plaza del Mercado Chico. Got to try the Yemas though, , which was really good. 👍 Also got to have some photos taken with the massive walls of the city. You are right, an overnight stay in Avila would be a great idea. Hope I get to do that , next time I visit Spain. Thanks Tony, for another wonderful video 👍 . Sending you and Cecilia, greetings of a Blessed and Glorious Easter !!! 🙏
Hello, Jasper, it’s alway good to have compelling reasons to return to a place you loved. Easter is coming to an end, we hope you had a great time too. Kind regards.
Hola Tony !! I have started my research for a long awaited trip to my ancestral homeland ( I was born in Santiago de Cuba but my paternal abuelo is from Sabadel and my maternal bisabuelo from Asturias ). I have designed a 12 day itinerary between Madrid and Barcelona. My first question is regarding day trips from Madrid. I will be spending 5 full days in Madrid and dedicating 3 of those days to the capitol city but the other two days are reserved for day trips to : Segovia, Avila and Toledo. So my dilemma is which city should I dedicate a full day and which of the two other cities should I combine in one day ? Also do you recommend any particular tour company ? My second question : is there a particular flamenco venue in Madrid which you would recommend, such as Coral de la Moreria ? I discovered your ROAD TRIP site a week ago and am very impressed by all aspects of your production. The Menu del Dia was especially helpful because it gave me an insight how I can plan my days between attractions/museums and the " almuerzo" . If I had more time I would try to spend two days in your hometown of Zaragoza with hopes of seeing ' El Rio Cinca " which bears my family name ( originally de Cinca from my abuelo's escudo de armas ). I was also impressed with your command of English grammar and use of colloquialisms. Where did your learn USA or England or both ? Gracias por tu arduo trabajo y esfuerzo !!!
Hola Tony, many thanks for your kind words. I learned my English first in Ireland and then in Scotland. We recommend one full day for Toledo, Ávila and Segovia, we don’t think it’s wise to combine more than one city in the same day. We can’t recommend a tour company, if possible, go on your own, here in the channel you will find the tools needed to plan those trips on your own, your experience will be much better. Corral de la Morería is really good, we intend to record a video on flamenco shows in Madrid, but it will still take a while. Hope you can make it to the river Cinca one day! Un saludo muy cordial (right now, on the road, doing field work for new videos).
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Gracias por el consejo. Intentare alargar mis vacaciones un día mas. Seguiré estudiando tus videos y los recomendare a todos mis amigos . Thank you Tony
Do trains run all day from Madrid airport? I’m planning a pilgrimage for next year and wanted to arrive early and acclimate before starting the Camino. This looks like a terrific place to hang out for a few days. Going to check out more of your videos. Thanks.
Hola Tony! I really enjoy your channel. I have watched most of them. We will visit Madrid after Christmas this year. We will drive to Segovia and Avila. Will the road to Segovia and Avila be covered by snow? Living in Los Angeles, we don't have experience to drive on snow-covered road. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, we've just had the warmest November on record. The way things go, snow is less likely than ever, but it can definitely happen, so you will have to check the forecast before traveling. To drive on snow your car should be equipped with snow chains or winter tires.
Hi Tony. My husband and I follow your videos closely. We will be in Avila for 2 nights in September. My husband wants to spend sunsets at Cuatros Postes to take pictures. Do you have any suggestions on where we can conveniently stay?
Hello. Do you know if the (bus) still leaves from Estacion Sur de Autobuses en Madrid or is this old information and now it leaves from Intercambiador de Moncloa en Madrid?
Hi Tony, you are awesome!!!😊😊 I am heading to Segovia, valley of the fallen, el Escorial & Avila in November. Any tips on where to park my car in those places? Can’t find much information online 😢
Thank you! We haven't researched the topic in depth. In Ávila, your best choice is to pay for a car park near the walls. Parking near the centre is next to impossible unless your are extremely lucky.
Hello, I find videos interesting, like to visit Avila. From Portugal by car. You did not mention how? . Which’s bed and breakfast you will recommend me to stay. Thank you.
My heritage comes from there as my Last name is D'Avila De Avila of Avila so my plan is to go there live at least 3 months and venture the rest of Spain maybe buy a Castle there...
Hello there, you can check Renfe's policy on bicycles here: www.renfe.com/es/en/viajar/informacion-util/luggage/bicicletas-y-patines It is very restrictive and confusing at the same time. Is there a dedicated tour to see inside the city hall of Avila?
As far as we are aware, the city hall cannot be visited.

not as far as we are aware. It is just the site of the local authority, nothing remarkable.
