To put it simply, this is a revolutionary product for content creators! It’s not meant to compete with DJI or the like; it’s in a class of its own.
As far as price point - how can 3 batteries, a charger that keeps two batteries on the ready and a “flying camera”, that does exactly what you asked it to do…like FOLLOW YOU, for 350. dollars, over priced?!…
Personally, I love ‘the lil’ thing’! …and nobody paid me to say that either.
@@milespaulmartin5195 sure….these reads like a marketing post….
Thanks for the honest work Ken. The marketing company reached out to me a couple months ago to do a paid “review” of this thing. They made it clear that I was not to disclose in the video that it was a sponsored video. I declined and told them they what they are doing is not legal or ethical. Lots of TH-cam channels did go ahead make sponsored videos which makes me question their ethics.
I bought this drone for a little under $350, and it came with 2 batteries and a charger. I'm impressed with what it offers. If you're a content creator, real estate photographer, or involved in street interviews and news stories, the voice-over capabilities are a game changer. However, it's not suitable for professional movie-making, unless it's for b-roll footage. If you're a mountain biker, travel journalist, or someone who wants different options, it's awesome. But if you're a dedicated drone enthusiast, you may find that this drone has some limitations. However, there is a large market for those in other fields. Each battery gives me about 10 minutes of flight time, but I haven't tested it in high winds or extreme temperatures, so those conditions may reduce the flight times. I'm a police officer and I not a paid endorser.😁
I like the whole concept of it. Its not meant to be a controlled drone
Waiting for DJI to make something similar/better and sell it for $199.99 including 2 batteries and a case
I just bought one of these to film myself practising jibbing on my bike. I've heard the X1 called a "toy" a few time but honestly what "non-toy" could you buy if you just want a tool to film yourself at low height?
It seems like most "professional" drones are actually used by people that enjoy flying them. That's not a knock, it seems like a pretty good hobby if that's what you're into. I just don't want to be planning shots or marking out waypoints, I just want to ride my bike better.
The image quality might be better on a DJI but that doesn't matter to me, I'll just delete it later anyway and no one else will ever see it.
ps You're dead on about the marking BS, thanks for standing up to it.
Yeah, I got one a while ago. Got a price reduction on it, but for what it does, small size, and available settings, it’s turned out to be not bad. It does lots without much setup, so I just write off the cost with what it does, fits in a pocket, follows me around the house and the block, so turns out worth it. Thanks for the post.
It does voice over sound from your phone. Cancels out motor noise. Real time clean narration while you walk along. I use a windproof lavier mic instead of the phone mic. Works very well.
Yeah, it works pretty well for what it is
Your no bullshit filter is why we listen to you Ken - keep up the honest work :) also interesting hearing the inside story of what goes on with the review industry
Its definitely worth 300 dollars. I had to pay 500 euro for shipping it to the Netherlands. But i made 4k earnings with it only during my first month of use. I gave it to some clients to film them during their projects and they loved it. The quality is decent, especially after upscaling it to 4k with some pro ai tools. For people who just want to track themself or for making b-rol and easy shares on social media its quite useful imho.
That’s what I’m going to use it for , tracking inside
What AI tools can upscale it to 4k? I'm interested in learning about that!
Ditto. What AI tools?
@@sibertiger17Topaz Labs Video Ai has pushed a lot of ads. It looks like a it would be good.
@@EvanWasHere Topaz Labs Video Ai has pushed a lot of ads. It sounds good.
I paid $399 with 2 batteries total and a charger, works great so far while skating on my penny board, love it. But the mic still trying to figure it out, been silent on me once it started flying
@@fonzieskatesurf I have to have the app open and the phone screen not locked for the sound to work.
This makes you much more credible than many other channels. For social media this will be a good product
Well up here in Canada its $649! So beat that!
They had a price drop of $100 plus i had a $38 Amazon coupon so i got one... yep expensive....but for me, it's simply a flying camera and fits a niche that I'm ok with. Sometimes you just want a quick photo from the sky without having to go through all the setup of other drones and this one is up in the air in 30secs....any DJI takes you a good 10mins to get it up and ready. I have three DJI drones of various sizes and im actually taking this Hover with me everyday just in case i want a quick shot of something from the sky. When i have time and do serious flight, then the DJIs come out. But again, is just a flying camera and its great and anyone can use it without training, without practice. Quality is good enough. No one notices what camera you used on social media with all the down sizing anyway so who cares?
Looks like the DJI Neo will do very well once it’s released and Im confident in DJI’s track record of making solid products 👍🏽
I will use this strictly this indoors… for chasing away flies.
Time you said over priced/49 feet/ 6 minutes Flight time?????
NEXT!!!!!!
I gotta admit, if it was a bit cheaper, I'd buy this in a heartbeat for one of my daughters. Like they don't take enough selfies as it is already hahaha....good review bro!
This is the perfect drone for me. Small as heck and easy to use. Perfect
They have now released a new model called the HoverAir X1 Smart, its 99grams, smaller and this model no longer folds up.. it’s meant to be much stronger (maybe because it doesn’t fold). As far as I know it’s only available in china or Japan, but last week the emailed an international offer, which I managed to get one. The only reviews on TH-cam are not in English.
It actually does seem to work very well, for what it is. And I might actually consider getting one to mess around, but as mentioned in the video, it just seems a little overpriced. And I don't what I would use it for, except some B-roll shots. Great review, and thanks for keeping it real about the sponsorship requests. Thanks for sharing, Ken.
I have one of these I had it three weeks but soon fell out of love with it .
Limited use for me think they could have put a lot more in the model for the massive cost
Sold mine before it lost money
Pretty sure it is based off the Bitcraze AI-deck or at least the GAP8 IOT processor from GreenWaves Technologies. Totally worth the cost. Love mine. You need to think about how much you are going to use it though. Be aware, the hinges are somewhat fragile. Mine broke when it hit a fence while following one of the neighborhood kids. It still operates with no issues even with a broken hinge. Not user repairable. Tried to get it fixed using Amazon's Asurion 'Protection Plan'. No joy. Love the aircraft, Asurion no so much... Too bad about the companies ethics. No reason for them to hide. Nice product.
Yeah I mean the product isn’t terrible for what it is so not sure why they wanted to hide the sponsorship
Very bizarre that the company demanded you to violate federal law. These companies need to be investigated
These requests happen more than most influencers talk about
Quick info about first and third person. In a first person story, the storyteller is talking about themselves. In a third person, the storyteller is talking about someone else. In that situation, the second person is you, the person who the storyteller is talking to.
I trust they have by now appreciated your review. For one thing they are now known to many more people, and secondly they can consider the applications that are possible as you expressed them. I like the second camera man application particular. Its limitations in some sense may be its strength for specific uses, and you reveal those possibilities better than any 'talking head'. As always it was doBo-mized. (I don't know, I just make up crap).
Excellent review! Neat product. The reason they did not want you to give the review your way. Is exactly why I would buy or seriously consider products based on your reviews.
Pretty cool selfie drone Ken. Image looks good 👍🏻. Definitely good for social media
Honest review.
I think it’s a pretty cool little drone.
A bit novelty but the camera images looked good.
Since it is at the America Online end of the drone continuum the price needs to be about $100.
I still think using it as a second camera man is super cool. 329.00 shit bro you make that in an hour......lol thanks
Good 1 Ken. I agree with you it is a bit to expensive.
Thank you for the review, I almost got one.
CANT freaking wait for HoverAir PROMAX, defiantly getting that
I LOVE that HoverAir Promax specs & plus the best thing u can fold it and shove it in ur pants pocket, HELL YA going for that, i would be the f*n first one to get on Lounge day
If it had OA, maybe. Thanks for the info.
Did DJI not release this back in 2017? The Spark had this functionality and we laughed at its 12 min flight time and 2 axis gimbal. The original Mavic air could also do this. Imagine where DJI would be with this now if they had not abandoned the functionality.
Hi, I just got my HoverAir and for some reason it won’t connect to my phone or any of my other Apple devices. My Bluetooth is on and my WiFi as well. Hope you can help me out with this. Thank you 🙏🏼
You can also attempt to connect to the drones WiFi this can sometimes help
@@OriginaldoBo I will try that as well. I’ve tried everything possible and I just cannot get it to pair with my devices. Thank you so much for your reply back.
My daughter would love this thing to record her dancing and gymnastic routines
I was thinking about it but after watching a few others review this I went ahead and passed on it myself. Maybe the price will go down. But question I wonder how it would do in a group of people and Dolly tracking.
That I don’t know but I’d imagine it would select one subject and hold but they maybe should allow for subject recognition
Does it allow me to pair with more than one mobile device?
Very good review/experience take and fair. I agree the price is little high and I think the sweet spot is $275 for the kit. That being said I got two one for the wife who is a complete drone noob and one for me during the kickstarter campaign and I will admit it is a fantastic little selfie drone that is quickly available for that group shot (no more missing person holding the camera/phone) and zoom outs for cool little travel locales, which we use a lot.
The wife actually using it is testament to it's automation and the company has regularly been providing updates to the features of both the drone and app, it's almost hard to believe in some ways that this is the same company as the Hover2 and Falcon, both products no longer supported and both with their baggage of bad history albeit both novel designs. Image quality is good and its tracking performance is very good imo. In regards to wind it handled Newport beach (pretty windy) really well and as usual didn't fail in landing in my hand. I wish the company would come out with a gimbal protector or some third party would 3d print hint hint, as I'm reluctant to throw it in my pocket cause of that.
Dinner in New York is on Zero Zero!
Looks good for what it is at the current price
A while back, wasn’t there one that looked like that but was larger sized ?
The Hover Passport. Shot at 1080p stabilized and was mostly controlled by the app and much larger. It too was waaay overpriced when it came out ($500 2016 dollars).
DJI Mini 2 SE (Refurb) 2/remote control...direct from DJI with all the warranty etc. is currently in stock and costs $225. 31 minute flight time. This Zero Zero would NEVER be a consideration for me, however, maybe they can jump on the DJI ban and use the opportunity to invent something with 1/4th the features and 2X the price, and someone will rush out to buy it. Just my thinking. Thanks for the review. 6-minute flight time, no SD card support, looks like a flying TV remote, no GPS, no flying over trees (40 ft +), extremely noisy, extreme limited use case..if you can find one.
You are my hero ❤Glad you can’t be bought ❤
Make no mistake they paid but that doesn’t change my outlook
Nice one Ken
How much do you charge for a positive review?
they don’t get a option if my experience is positive or not. As stated when they are sponsoring I won’t review it I just use it.
its all about money why people make content - lets not be hypocrite - and ethics do exists but rare
I'd pay $59 for it. 49 feet get a selfy stick ha
Neato!
Toooo much 😮. 😊
Yes, i rather put my investment elsewhere for that price.
The concept is interesting, but I can't for the life of me think of a practical use for this thing....
It seems like an overpriced novelty; something you'll use 2 or 3 times before forgetting about it. 🤷🤷🤷
For me it only makes sense as a second or 3rd camera angle
Not too shabby... but not too great either. It's a follow me cina-whoop
that is just as annoying as an avata when it comes to the noise. yea no not even worth getting as a b roll camera in the air because you are going to hear that thing being at a reasonable distance from it using a microphone on your person. terrible lol
So, they thought they could slip one past the goalie?😂 Homie don't play dat!!! Every time I see this thing pop up, I just think that it's overpriced garbage! Rock on Ken 🤘
No gps, 39 ft max height, no manual mode?? 😂😂😂
I had this selfie drone for 3 months, I love it. I use it for my daily exercise running on the trails. It follows me riding my bicycle and scooter. I don’t have to fly, it flies by itself. Each battery is only 10 minutes but it’s long enough to run., especially I have 3 batteries.
Do not compare to your usual quad drones, this is a very targeted niche drone for selfies/quick group shots and getting that orbital/zoom out of some vaca spot all without working of chopping someone up with the props. I have all the DJI and Autel drones and find myself pulling this out for those quick shot far more often and no gear required.
@@pickledpeppers1577 I still can’t justify paying close to 500 for a selfie drone with limites features or no safety features like gps hold. To each his own I guess.
An expensive solution looking for a problem that it doesn't solve very well.
Cute.
* the drone, not you
Excellent unreview!
$400 for that toy 🧐 max I pay $100
Nonsense, you dont know what your talking about. Its definitely worth more than 100 dollars. I had to pay 500 euro for shipping it to the Netherlands. But i made 4k earnings with it only during my first month of use. I gave it to some clients to film them during their projects and they loved it. The quality is decent, especially after upscaling it to 4k with some pro ai tools. If you use it correct you can make multiple figures earnings easily.
@@ChristiaanRoest79 I want to say is that I will pay max $100 not $499
@@ChristiaanRoest79 I had the Dji Mini 3 and 4 and it is superior drones
Won't be wasting the money. Seems like a toy. No thanks😊
This drone ain't bad for a 2nd cam guy
Yeah for a second camera man it’s not terrible
@@OriginaldoBo yep, was actually surprised by the movement. Almost as if there was another dude following you. Only wish then battery was longer lasting.
