In my unprofessional opinion, I’ve always kind of evaluated the quality of a band by how well they play their material live in concert, and by that standard, Procol Harum is among the best. Perhaps the best. They just never disappoint.

My favourite band of all time and having seen them live 8 times I can vouch for their greatness.Alas it has now come to an end but they have left us with a great catalogue of music. RIP Gary and Keith.

Alan Cartwright, who was a bass player for Procol Harum between 1971 and 1976, died on March 4, 2021, at the age of 75. His cause of death was not revealed, but by the year 2020 he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer. RIP

A shame that Chris was not on organ here. As good a player as Solley was/is, Mr. Copping's choice of Hammond lines (as well as his choice of Hammond settings), was always WAY more preferable to me. Solley sounded like he was playing 'on top' of the arrangement, whereas Copping appeared to be weaved into the fabric of the tune.

I was quite surprised seing this set. Nothing bad, but I have always preferred Chis Copping on Hammond, than Pete Solley on Farfisa Professional. I am not Farfisa lover.Pete was Ok in Something Magic using a lot of synths, but Chis is a better Hammond player.Interesting to hear it though.Just my opinion.I have always loved Procol Harum as a best band ever and thank greatly for this concert video.I am amazed with a quality of video.

HA! Gary did the "stronger than dirt" tune at 12:33. Same as The Doors ending Touch Me. At the end of the song, Morrison chants "Stronger than dirt!" The line is from an Ajax commercial popular at the time where a white knight rides around destroying dirt. The last four chords of the song were also lifted from the commercial.: th-cam.com/video/kGd_SPEVU78/w-d-xo.html

François: "Wizard Man" from the "Something Magic" album and "This Old Dog", which the band never formally recorded, but played occasionally in concert in 1977. A live version of this song was included in the 2009 Salvo remastered release.

Gary Brooker here is a bit feisty, wiry and dressed as he should be. So is Chris Copping's farewell outfit - a Jack Nicholson-style hat from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.” Pete Solley has adapted well to the band - it's clear that he enjoys playing this particular repertoire in this company. BJ - a veritable veteran of the band - never disappoints, as does Mich Grabham - almost a veteran.

He was alive, 'though ill, when you first posted, three weeks ago. He died last week. That's why we're looking at these old performances.
I saw him live many times over the years, here in NYC. The last, about four years ago, just walking distance from my home in lower Manhattan.
On another ocassion, I travelled with friends to a performance on Long Island, and saw Mathew Fisher with Brooker again. Chatting with Gary outside the venue, he and Maff' could see I was quite drunk and learned that I'd got separated from my friends, so Gary told the Driver of the Truck transporting instruments to give me a ride back to the City.
The Driver dropped me off at my front door., before returning the gear. What's more, he invited me to the next night's show at the Bottom Line, as a Guest. Unfortunately, I needed all day to sleep it off -- and STILL awoke too hung over to make it to the club.
Nonetheless, thanks for the ride, Brook'. Cheers for all the music, as well!
