  • How to draw buildings in perspective? In this video Stephen draws an Edinburgh streetscape demonstrating not just the elements of perspective involved, but also how to approach the overall drawing as a whole. There is a focus on aligning architectural elements which are on the same horizontal plane, and accurately representing foreshortening. The challenge of a drawing a downhill sloping scene is also discussed.

I think you can have a looser style but if the perspective is wrong, unless you're intentionally warping it, it looks bad, so great video again. Don't understand why your videos aren't getting hits in the 1000's. Some of the best basic drawing tips on TH-cam.

It is fascinating to follow your process, i.e. pick one element to draw very carefully, and align every other element in relation to that.

Excellent tutorial again. What size pen did you use in this drawing?

I used a Mitsubishi Uniball Eye, Micro for this. It’s a ball point with a great flow of ink. I don’t usually use it for fast drawing as I find my hand moves a bit quick and can smudge ink that hasn’t quite dried. But it feels great to use. I wanted a nice black line though for this demo, so I used it anyway. 😀

I love your drawings, you have a new follower from Spain. By the way, could you tell us what material you use, pens, paper, etc ...
    Thanks...

Thanks Javi. In this drawing I use Art Tec 210gsm drawing cartridge paper, and black ink Uni-ball Eye Micro pen.

Why did you work from a black and white photo, rather than the colored one? Thanks!

Another gem. The method of imagining the window as a box in order to correctly place the panes, prompted me to exclaim Wow and then smile! Another conundrum solved. Thank you so so much for recommending this playlist and indeed for creating the simplest to grasp art tutorials out there. I feel exceptionally blessed to have come across your channel and I know am not alone.🪄
