    Dr. Kristy, I would love an MD's perspective on prescription pain meds and why doctors are so reluctant to prescribe them. It feels like the pendulum has swung way to far conservative on this. I'm 53, athletic, don't drink, and don't smoke. I have had a handful of times over the past 10 years where I was in from intense pain to excruciating pain to the point of wanting to throw up, and could not get prescription pain meds. This last time around, I was having excruciating headaches for three days. Ibuprofen wasn't touching it. Called the doctor's office and explained the tylenol/ibuprofen regimen I had been trying with no avail, and requested something stronger. When I received a call-back, the answer from the doctor was to continue ibuprofen and tylenol. I don't feel at this age, and with my lifestyle, I should have to deal with this much resistance regarding pain management. Truly makes me consider finding alternative means of getting something to help when needed. Yet, it's exactly what I don't want to do - get something illegally, and also take a chance it's tainted, fake, etc.

    I’ve always preferred Ibuprofen over Tylenol it works better for me plus whenever I get the flu and have a fever it really helps lower it better than what Tylenol does now obviously everyone is different but Ibuprofen is what I have always gone with.

    age-76 & Tylenol doesn't work for me. When I tried to get a prescription for something stronger, they treated me like a drug addict. My osteoarthritis is killing me.

    Cold pack, then heat pack on thumb, and forefinger, for 10 minutes. Rest for 15, to 20 minutes. Hope this suggestion with your chronic pain. Feel better without pill method’s that eventually can have negative side effects.

    What about aspirin?

    • @paulelkins425
      @paulelkins425 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aspirin is an NSAID so it falls into the category that Dr. Christy warned about for 65+ patients. However, the poison is in the dose. Low dose aspirin can be helpful for certain CVD conditions. Best to check with your doctor to evaluate your case.

    OMG so much conflicting information out there.
    You watch one doctor says something, you watch another, says something completely different, on the same subject.
    This is not only annoying but downright dangerous.
