Thanks y’all. My aunt always said this when I was growing up and I rolled my eyes. Took me 54 years to understand how powerful my own reactions were, good or bad. And @Kelly Phillips, Thank you! I just looked at her channel. Seems really positive, I subscribed!
I’m agnostic and I love hearing people’s thoughts on religion. I love when people can explain what they believe without being preachy and I’ve never got a preachy vibe from you :)
@@khanhfident I believ because I saw an invisible force throw a man across the room after a church service when I was 18. Me and my brother were shocked and kinda scared so we left. People were praying for him cause he was acting like he was demon possessed. I asked a girl who used to go there (we were visiting) what was his problem before he got thrown and she said he had been into witchcraft type stuff and he couldn’t get out of it. Someone invited him to church and this would sometimes happen. The person he was living with said when he started staying with them they would see and hear things in their home that had never happened before. Had I not seen that in person Idk if I would believe in the supernatural.
So far, this entire comment section is loving and respectful and that’s one of the many reasons I love your channel, Jess. You’ve built this community of people who may not always agree on politics or religion-or makeup! But they all respect and learn from one another. It’s a beautiful thing. ❤️
I am so incredibly lucky to have such an understanding & compassionate group of subscribers!! Even when we disagree, generally everyone is tolerant and respectful! 🤍🤍
How can you not love jess. She is such a humble kindred spirit. She cracks me up, I love that she can laugh at herself when she does something crazy. She's amazing.
I'm a Christian and my brother is an atheist. You will not believe the comments I get when people find out. The most common is "How do you handle that?" I say "Handle what?" I love my brother and he is a good person. He doesn't have horns or a pitchfork. That's me 😏
As somebody who has a tricky relationship with religion and no longer believes I really appreciate how transparent you are about your beliefs without having it be a central focus of your channel. I think that it is great for you that you have your beliefs but since I don't share them I wouldn't be interested in a channel that is completely centered around someone's faith- (there are plenty of channels that do for those that want that content, it just isn't the niche I am looking for). You do a great job of standing by your beliefs without it coming across as judgy or preachy and I really appreciate that!
Hey hun! Of course you’re gonna work on what you feel like you’re “lacking” and that’s great! I just wanted to say, cause you said “to use my time at home wisely”... you’re a mom, a wife and your own person, you try to excercise, read, cook and eat healthy, you work from home and are doing awesome... YOU’RE DOING GREAT!!! I understand that planning is your jam but don’t beat yourself over wasting a little time here and there! All my love ❤️
I totally agree! I would love to see her give herself more grace. We are so often our own worse enemies and it’s hard to see yourself as others see you. To me, Jess is very disciplined and structured already and who I inspire to be more like!
Not sure why that never clicked in my head (maybe because of my upbringing) but framing it this way is going to help me a lot with my own struggles and journey with Christianity. Thanks!!
Jess I feel you girl. I used to hate weekends because I had no “set schedule” and my mind wandered and anxiety came back. What really helped was firstly go to therapy to slowly work the actual reasons as of why I was feeling that way, and secondly, leave tasks that were only done in the weekend, like painting or reading certain book. That gave me a sense of purpose, but combined with therapy that feeling slowly disappeared to the point where I can do nothing on the weekend and actually enjoy it. I hope it helps, you are not alone girl.
Living in the Midwest, it feels like everyone assumes without question that you are a devote Christian. As an expat Brit and atheist (and liberal!), it can really feed into my feeling of being a total alien here... It’s so refreshing the way you talk about your religion so openmindedly and without that assumption. ❤️
@@adrienemansell4496 I completely agree! I don’t have a Trader Joe’s or a Target anywhere near me and I thoroughly enjoy watching those videos. I was just trying to give more of a perspective.
I'm not religious at this point of my life, but grew up in a very religious household (Sunday school, youth group, summer AND winter church camps--the works). But our mom brought us to services of other religions when we were old enough, so we could experience other faiths and find what was best for ourselves. As a result I grew to have a profound respect for anyone's beliefs, so long as they're not being used to exploit/oppress/hate others. And there is 0% oppression/exploitation/hate on your channel lol. Thank you for always being accessible about your own beliefs, while always being compassionate and respectful to everyone else and their own life practices--it's part of what keeps your channel special, and why your comments section is full of people who are, too.
Former teacher, now stay at home mom as of this year and I FEEL you on the structure and discipline thing!! I’ve never done a word of the year, but you inspired me. I’m choosing patience. Patience for my kids, my husband and myself.
I have watched you for years and adore you as an influencer. We have similar taste in everyday makeup and lifestyle products. We are very different people. Heck I’m a plus size, blue haired, atheist Jew. On paper it would seem like we are worlds apart, but in my head you are one of my friends. I appreciate your content about your beliefs and your morals. You have never made me feel like you look down on people that are different from you and that’s the kind of characteristics I look for in people that are in my life. It feel good about following you and watching your videos and content because you stand against hate and harming other people, and that’s what I think is important. I guess this is a long winded way of saying: I really appreciate you for being you and sharing that with us. 💜
On the religion topic, I’m a Christian as well and I don’t claim any denomination. The Bible doesn’t tell us to be Lutheran or Baptist or Protestant or anything except to follow Jesus!! God bless you!
I'm 3 minutes in, you just had that moment of forgetting your word, and I CANNOT get over how you are just the most likable person ever. Xoxox Everyone loves you.
I love what you said about religion, I’m a Christian and was raised Christian but it’s been a journey to try to find where I stand with certain things and not just going with what I was raised in. Also I love how respectful the whole comment section is as well as Jess is about those who don’t believe. It’s so hard to find that type of respect for different beliefs nowadays!
Hey Gabbi, I believe you can be certain on where you stand. Not from someone's opinion or religious tradition but straight from the Word of God. Most importantly, are you 100% certain you'll go to heaven when you die? If you want to know plz check out one if the BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN videos on TH-cam. God bless you!
Jess I am 100% there with you on the religion thing. As my husband and I have started talking about kids we also are in limbo about religion because we know we don’t want our child raised in either denomination that we grew up in. Which has caused a lot of stress and anxiety for multiple reasons but specifically because my mom LOVES bringing her other grandchildren to church with her and I don’t want my kids to lose out on that valuable time with their grandma but I don’t want them raised in that denomination because of all the hate and judgement I was taught there. Growing up in church gave me lifelong friends and even my husband but there are so many negative things that were ingrained in me that I have fought so hard to overcome and some days still have to check myself on and I don’t want my child to have to also over come those things. Also I live in the south so finding a progressive church I can feel good about attending is very difficult!
I feel this so much! I am in SC and it can be hard to find a church where I feel ALL are truly welcome and they have a heart for community and service for all, not just those that look like them and believe like them.
Finding a church that is not just all fluff but also not cold or legalistic but that has a good biblical foundation and theology, I definitely not easy. Which is why reading your bible and studying it is so important. Specially if you want to start a family. This world is in DESPERATE need of biblically founded youth and adults!!!
I'm 48 years old and as a child I was not raised in a church, but had the opportunity with an aunt to go to a Mormon Church and with an older cousin to go to Catholic Church. It was fascinating................ But I wasn't required in our home life to follow either. I highly recommend letting kids be exposed to different religions. IMO
@@heatheralexander7640 I don’t mind my children being exposed to other religions, I think that is perfectly fine. I just don’t want them to be exposed regularly to the denomination of Christianity that I grew up in.
Oh hey, I’m in the South, too. Raised Catholic. And now, at 45, I question a lot of things. I don’t like people who loudly proclaim just HOW Christian they are. Jessica, this is not you, but I bet you know what I mean. If you have to tell me how much you are? Chances are good you’re not. Jessica, you put your money where your mouth is. You tell us you are a Christian, but you don’t pretend to be perfect, or have all the answers. You live your life and your beliefs quietly, without having to loudly proclaim how awesome you are.
As a nurse I greatly appreciate you supporting vaccines! Your platform can reach a lot of folks! And my word is perseverance! I ask God to grant me lots of it every day!
My word of the year is Courage. I lost my 16 year old furbaby last June and the grief process has been hard. I decided I was going to focus on courage to be better and be strong like him. I placed the word on the picture on my cell lock screen.
Oh I know that pain, my best friend was my dog who I got when I was five and she lived to be 17, she came into my life two years before my sibling did, she was my longest friend and it was just devastating. But I'm six years down the line and now I just remember her with love, I don't get sad remembering her anymore I just think how wonderful a gift our mutual love was. Her breed typically only lives to about 12, so really I got five extra years I got so lucky. I also changed things in her memory I decided life is short, I was in uni not working much, I love glitter, I'm gonna wear glitter every day until I get a job where I can't. And I did and it was fab.
I’m so sorry!! I know the pain all to well too! I lost my 12 year old fur baby at the end of September and it’s a rough thing. ❤️🐶 Hugs and thoughts for you!!!
I’m so sorry for the loss of your furbaby, you were so blessed, 16 yrs was a long time. I completely understand what you are going thru, bless you. What a beauty your baby was🐾🌈❤️🙏🏻
@@Rose-jz6sx thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope I can get to a place where I can remember him without crying and feeling my heart is broken. One of things I'm trying to do is live in the moment and keeping in mind tomorrow is not guaranteed. ❤️
I personally would love to hear more about religion and your religious journey. I find it very interesting to hear about different peoples choices! I’m Jewish and would still be interested in that content. I would love to hear how you came to realize you were at odds with the religion you grew up with and how you deal with the conflict with your family that comes with that. I also think that could help a lot of people that I’m sure have felt that same way and now feel at odds with their family.
My word this year is grace. I'm allowing myself and others around me grace, Knowing that we've all been through tough times and we're not able to be the productive, kind, or even functional people we usually are. I'll still strive to be my best but I know it's not always possible, and that's okay.
I’m an atheist and totally appreciate hearing about your stances on religion. Also I don’t feel like you’re ever judgemental or condescending in the name of your religious beliefs! I feel like if more religious individuals had your approach there would be less of a stigma towards religion!
I was raised in a church that focused on so much legalism(adding rules and regulations that aren’t even in the Bible) and I met my husband we started going to a church that actually focuses on the word of God and not on what you are wearing or nit picking at every little thing! It’s beautiful to actually read the Bible and see how God really is versus what people like to add to the Bible. Hope that make sense! 😂
I was also raised in a church with the wrong priorities and ended up causing a lot of pain and heartache to a lot of people because of the blasphemy. It took years but I finally found a church that focuses on relationships and meeting people where they are
I led a Bible Study at our church a couple of years ago that was AMAZING & so easy. Basically, we took an ENTIRE YEAR to read through the 4 gospels chronologically (a chronological Bible is great). It was wonderful to take it slowly, compare the accounts of Matthew to Mark for example & learn about the historical & cultural context of what we were reading. Something as simple as knowing Matthew was writing to Jews while Luke was writing to Gentiles opened my eyes. I could really focus on JESUS & who HE is. Ugh, it just changed how I read Scripture & really challenged me to truly love others as Jesus does. I made so many observations about how He interacted with people & it was just cool. The church is full of imperfection, but I still see it’s purpose. Even now I disagree with others, but I also get that it’s the Spirit’s job to mold hearts, not mine. Keep growing❤️
My word of the year is flexible. On top of an already crazy year, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in June at just age 30. I've always been a huge planner but I learned that life can change in an instant and it's so much easier to just be flexible with your situation instead of trying to control everything.
I grew up in a very strict evangelical branch of Christianity, and realizing that it wasn't for me (and knowing that leaving that tribe would mean a severe loss of community) was one of the hardest things I've ever done. So I get why you get emotional about the subject. I truly appreciate how you handle it on your channel. I left religion completely (there was a lot of trauma involved) but think it's healthy for any adult to evaluate whether the ideals you were brought up with reflect who you are or want your family to be.
@@PacificMidwest It really is. I found online groups right before the isolation swallowed me, and (even though the internet can be toxic at times too) I really feel like it saved me. Being stuck shunned in a rural area is just so hard - but that was the point, to make me hit rock bottom and come back. I wasn't willing to do that.
I got choked up when you spoke on religion. You’re right, it is a personal emotional thing for everyone no matter what you believe. Thank you for sharing- I’ve loved your spirit and presence for about a year now and this really just pushed my love into the next level. If that makes sense. 💕
I was raised Baptist and went to several different denomination's churches as a teenager. When I hit my 30s I started questioning Christianity, and then eventually religion altogether. After much research and soul searching, I realized I don't believe in anything supernatural/spiritual, and that I'm an atheist. This has been so freeing as I'm now living my most authentic life. I feel like letting go of religion has made me more tolerant & accepting of people, which I didn't expect but am totally happy about. I respect everyone's right to believe whatever they want, but I don't see myself ever going back.
Princess Stephanie, I agree, don't go back to a false religion. If you're interested check out BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN and THE ATHIEST RELIGION here on TH-cam, just for fun. See what you make of it. God bless you
As a non-Christian....please make videos talking about your beliefs! I enjoy watching people speak about their passions. Especially if talking about it helps you figure things out ❤
We have been married for 21 years a right after we married we started doing “what 5 things do you want to talk about?” With each other. We both have to stop what we are doing and then hear each other. It’s a prompt to share troubles and successes is a safe and happy way Works for us. Yay for you finding your way of reaching out to each other 🥰😍
You had me tearing up when you were talking about your religious views. I grew up in a very Christian household and to this day hold those values very close. But as I've grown up and got married, I've been exposed to new thinking and I feel like my thoughts absolutely clash with my family's. And ive dealt with so much guilt from it. It warms my heart to hear of someone- anyone, who is going through the same thing as me. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
I truly appreciate your comment on your religion, and I hope it's reassuring for you to know it's one of the reasons I follow you. It's refreshing to see young adults who have faith and not be afraid to be open about it, as easily as if saying their name. I loved how you posted your wedding video! Your channel also shows how people of faith also have fun and enjoy fun things, like makeup, coffee, sports, fashion, and cooking! I myself came from a family with a mix of Christianity so I shared a similar struggle for more than a decade. Besides praying about it, it also helps to deliberately study your faith as an adult (from direct sources rather than hearsay) before deciding to leave it behind. It's something I decided to do in college more than a decade ago and I asked a million questions. Now I can say I am happily a Catholic Christian. Just share what you have, and your passion about what you love about your faith speaks to those around you!
When you kept the “hey Tyler!” In I died. So relatable. This was great! Thank you. And I do love day in the life and the hellofresh collaboration makes sense. But I would love to see more of them :)
I think my word is going to be myself. I live my life pleasing everyone else, and being afraid of doing things for myself. What if I fail? Maybe courage should be the word. Self care, self discipline, myself first. You are a breath of fresh air Jess. Thanks for the inspiration and push to do this.
Jessica, I could sit and listen to you all day. I think it must be the teacher in you, you always speak very clearly and you always stay on point of what your talking about. This was a great little coffee chat get ready with me. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
I legit snort laughed when you were talking about your ring and said “not my wedding ring” I don’t know why but it was so cute. And what you said about faith spoke to my heart. That’s exactly where I am.
I love your honesty about religion! There are many of us brought up under one religion that as an adult have questions. Keep the faith and you will find a path that is right for you! Love you, Jessica - God bless, stay safe and take care!
I’m a nurse and receiving the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine Monday. Please please everyone, please get vaccinated when it’s your turn, herd immunity is a real thing and saves lives (and will make the lives of so many hospital workers bearable again).
THANK YOU to you & every single nurse that reads this. For all your hard work, time away from home and for every single thing nurses have to deal with during this pandemic. May all of this end soon 🙏🏻
Nice!! I'm a med lab scientist and will get the second Pfizer dose next week too! I took the vaccine concerns seriously and talked with our microbiology supervisor and read some published research papers and decided to get the vaccine. Looking forward to when most people are immune enough to relax some of the restrictions and let hospital workers feel refreshed. We're pretty tired right now but hopeful!
I wish we would have the option here in the Philippines. We are in the Top 30 with the highest covid cases worldwide, but we seem to be having aaaall the time in the world in order to getting the vaccine in any way. So many people here are already pissed off at the government because they are so corrupt. And they dont seem to be in rush to get our hands on those vaccines.
@@itsJeaaan1 I'm sorry you are having to deal with this in the Philippines. My hope is your government will have a change in perspective. Please continue to stay safe and healthy during this difficult time 🙏
Thank you for speaking about religion!! I grew up Mormon/LDS and really struggled being in that church. My family on both sides is very enthusiastic about their church and although better now, it caused a lot of tension and stress in the past. It gave me a lot of religious trauma that I'm only able to begin facing years later. I currently am in limbo as well trying to figure out whether or not I believe in God, and what that really means to me. It's nice to hear someone else is going through the same thing, especially someone who I wrongfully assumed had that figured out. I've been suggested the tv show about Jesus' life called "The Chosen" by many people, and I made it a "spiritual" goal to try and watch it this year. Maybe you can watch it as well and feel some peace and clarity! You are my favorite TH-camr and I thoroughly enjoy all of your content, so thank you for the work that you put in!!
Everyone needs to definitely go on their own journey regarding Christianity or even religion and beliefs in general, but as a Christian, I would 100% recommend the film American Gospel on Netflix. I grew up in a Christian home and found that I didn’t totally agree with some of the things that I was learning about from family and leaders, and watching this film as an adult, I can see the false gospel and unbiblical practices that my family and a lot of churches preach, and it really helped me understand some grey areas
@@ImaTChure oh shoot! I just checked, and it’s no longer on there! It’s called American Gospel: Christ Alone, and I’m not sure if it’s still available on any streaming sites :(
One of the best "marriage" answers. After almost 32 years of marriage, if I may add, even if your spouse forgets or is preoccupied, as is the other spouse, whatever is going on it has NOTHING to do you with unless they say so. Don't take it personally! That's it. Do. Not. Take. It. Personally. This is the time to show love Love LOVE. And then laugh. 32 years and we are still madly in love. Yes it has changed and we've learned these lessons with help, and as grateful I am for today, I am in love with my best friend. I pray this for all of you.
I never thought about having a "word." But I realized there is something... My identical twin sister died in 2014 (as did our mom). My dh drove me across country in January to go to the funeral. My younger sister living there took me through the house, and I found a painted block that said "Be Kind." That is what I took home, and it's helped my heart ever since...
Jessica, I don't believe I have ever seen someone as disciplined as you, as demonstrated by your dedication to planner books. I am not discouraging your choice for your "word" but I am hoping you are not too hard on yourself. Life is short and raely does it go exactly as planned. Thank you for all you both do on TH-cam, you have entertained me more than you know. I feel like you are part of my family, as I spent the holidays with you . . . I have three wonderful sons and daughters-in-law, and three grandkids, but the pandemic made the holidays harder than ever. God Bless and Stay Safe, Judy
This is 100% why I loved Educated- being raised by parents that have a vast difference of religion. Especially being raised Mormon- Educated hit SO HARD. Thank you for suggesting it!
My word for this year is Grace. I am working on giving myself grace. I am much more forgiving towards others than myself. I have learned over the years to let a lot of stuff go. It is hard, but so wonderful when I do. I think you are amazing and so smart. Be true to yourself and everything else will fall into place. Xoxo
I totally understand you. I didn't grow up in a religious household but after a WHILE of finding out what Christianity is really about, wrestling with myself, etc I gave my life to Jesus (at the age of 20) and to this day I don't clearly identify with one specific denomination and tbh I don't think I have to. I am Christian. I believe in Jesus and the Bible and I try my best to study it and live accordingly. This should be true for every Christian, so I think we all should try to focus more on what we have in common instead of all the differences. (Of course people are going to disagree on certain points - we're human & discussing about beliefs is a good thing as long as you do it in a respectful manner) Wish you all the best for your journey! 🤗
Angelina, more importantly than your denomination, are you 100% certain you'll go to heaven when you die? If you've put all your faith in Christ to save you, and you're not relying on yourself and how good you are, cause none of us are perfect, then you can be certain. Search BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN here on TH-cam and be 100% sure of your salvation. God bless you!
I think my word for the year is motivation. This last year really rocked the boat of my life and left me feeling depressed, anxious and pathetic. I really need some motivation to keep me going.
I really appreciated your comments on religion! My husband was raised Catholic, but disagreed with some of the beliefs - as an adult he found an Episcopal church and while it has its own problems, he loves it. I was raised in a pretty agnostic house, but I love being Episcopalian too. Neither of our parents are Episcopalian, but we all agree that the most important thing is belief in Jesus and following his teachings. Hope you find a church home that you love too :) xo

I employed a phrase this year. Its something I see a lot on hiking trails and something my mom used to say about the kitchen lol but I think it can apply to almost everything. "Leave it better than you found it". Apply it to a room, a day, a conversation, someone else's mood, your own perspective, whatever. Take the moment and intention to improve things around you however big or small.
Yes, I would absolutely LOVE for you to do a dedicated video for the pages that you added in your planner. I am the same when it comes to planning and scheduling. I love how you are open about your depression and anxiety. I feel less alone when I hear others speak of it. Thank you for being so open and honest. Love watching your videos 😍
I LOVED this video Jess! I woke up and saw that you posted a chat video, so I jumped out of bed, made a cup of coffee, sat in my favorite chair with my blanket and enjoyed my coffee while watching your video. I seriously felt like I was chatting along with you. Thank you for being so real and peaceful about it 💞 especially with recording on a crazy day!
I just have to say how thankful I am for you and your family. I have been struggling BAD being an ICU nurse during the pandemic and have been so down in the dumps. You and Tyler’s channels have brought me so much peace and comfort - more than I can express. Thank you ❤️ You’ve inspired me to look into a word for the year too!
I really appreciated you talking about religion in this way. I was raised Catholic and I lost my faith when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I still believe in God, but the whole experience was pretty traumatic even though she survived. I fight with my family all the time about how I don’t agree with the church’s policies and guilt it instills in people. I know I want my future kids to have God in their life, but I’m still trying to figure out what that is going to look like
I totally understand what you mean, I was raised Catholic and had trouble with my faith when my 27 year old cousin died after fighting pediatric cancer for 7 years. I want to have something to believe in, but it's hard when your faith "trust" has been broken. For people without many hardships (or relatively easier hardships) it seems easier to forget the bad things and easier not to think "why would a higher power allow such awful things to happen in the world?" because luckily for some people, the good in their lives outweigh the bad.
I love how you talked about your beliefs, I love you even more now. I love how gracious you always are and that you’re being open being in “limbo” and exploring what you believe, it’s refreshing to see because I’m in the same season of life 🤍 I couldn’t find your content for a minute but glad I did! I’m rewatching all your videos again 😂
I grew up in a very religious home as well and I'm in the process of deconstructing and figuring out what I believe in personally myself. It's an emotional ride for sure! Thanks for sharing 😘
The whole "are you feeling okay?" Is incredible. I have a lot of trauma in my past so sometimes I have really strong reactions to minor things and I don't always realize that's what's happening. So my boyfriend will say "I'm sorry for (whatever minor thing he did) but I feel like this reaction is about something else." And it's enough to pull me back and make me think. Or sometimes I'll even say "I'm upset because of X. But I'm way more upset than I should be and I'm not sure why. Once I figure it out, I'd like to talk about it." That way he knows I'm upset and I'm not just walking around being passive aggressive and huffy, but he also knows why I can't talk about it yet. And he isn't always the most communicative so sometimes I'll say "I feel like you're thinking something and not saying it." Or "is something going on, you seem off today." Just those little comments are enough to spark conversation. The other big thing we do is we address small issues as they arise but not while they are happening. For instance even something as small as doing the dishes can become a big issue if not addressed, so we address it as soon as we realize it might be a problem. But we don't address it while someone is doing the dishes. That way tnesions aren't high during the conversation. (Dishes are just an example, that's not actually a problem for us lol)
My word of the year is "Nurture." I'm expecting our first child, have neglected my hobbies and passions, and am growing in my career. My priorities have shifted to growing and promoting the development of the things I hold dear.
Jess you inspire me so so much. Thank you for being so honest about you Christian walk. I was brought up in between two denominations, and it has been difficult to learn what I believe about Christ. It's comforting to see someone else on the journey ❤
I never thought of having a theme for my year but the first word that came to mind is "grateful." Although I could use discipline in my life in many ways. I think feeling grateful for this life and all its blessings, it will change my mindset.
Your openess about religious really resonated with me. I tell people I am a Spiritual person and try to leave it at that. I have investigated a lot of religions in my 50 years on this earth and I have found honestly something wonderful about all of them and something I disagreed with about all of them. I believe there is a higher power, whether you want to call that power God or whatever is up to you. I clash with some in my family because I investigated other belief systems. With my own 2 sons and my 2 step children I encouraged them to learn about everything and decide for themselves.
It sounds like I’m in a similar spot as you with my religious journey.. raised Christian but finding myself at odds with some of the beliefs that seem to go directly against what Christianity is supposed to represent. Also my first time ever setting a word of the year.... peace ❤️
@@rachelwinberry1271 and @Breana G If you're wondering about your faith, I encourage you to check out BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN, here on TH-cam. I hope it clears things up for you, like it did for me. God bless!
God is Grey is another great channel to watch, I'm also in a similar place and have been for years. It's a hard spot to be in especially if you were raised where EVERYTHING is wrong and it wasn't focused on Gods love and grace for us but rather the judgemental aspects some "Christian" churches can definitely be entrenched in.
I’m a biochemist and I’m so glad you talked about the vaccine positively and are encouraging your audience to learn about the vaccine!! the design of this vaccine is so great and different than older and more traditional vaccines, but the fact that it’s designed differently makes it so much more effective and really paves the way for more effective vaccines in the future (for reference, the current flu shots that we get yearly are only ~60% effective, but both covid vaccines are 95% effective!! the biggest factor that contributes to this difference is the design of the vaccine!). thank you so much for caring about the community and general public, another reason why you’re so wonderful!! ❤️
I 100% feel you on the need for discipline and structure. I’m WFH indefinitely and became a puppy mama this summer so it’s definitely dawned on me that I need a bit more of a routine in order to stay sane- kinda like my baby dog does! One thing that’s helped me is not treat everything like it’s do or die at a certain time of day (ie, I HAVE TO get up at 6am in order to work out) but examining my day realistically and leaving what’s working (an evening walk with my partner and pup) and figuring out where I can make smaller improvements (I can wake up a half hour earlier to work out before I start work so my partner has time for himself when he comes home) and then attaching new habits to existing ones.
It's videos like these that make me realize why I am so drawn to you. We think about the world so similarly and have so many common beliefs and attitudes about things. It's one of the most amazing parts about parasocial relationships in that I can feel friendship with you, even though you have no idea who I am, because you are such a positive person to listen to and "hang out with" virtually.
I just want to say that you aren't crazy for needing structure. I could tell you really struggled to say that, but you are allowed to need routine to be your best self. I fully understand the need to have a routine, and I often feel lost and anxious on days where I don't. Even though I understand the need to rest, I am the type of person who needs to schedule that into my day for me to feel like I am able to truly relax. I am also in a bit of Christian limbo, and hearing your perspective on that was really what I needed today. Also, your planner gives me heart eyes!
I literally said the word “discipline” in my head for my “word of the year” (I’ve never even heard of this concept) a minute before you said it. We are “word of the year” twins! Lol I love these type of videos. I need more structure, as a student...getting motivated to sit in front of my professor on my computer is just not awe inspiring, but I want to try and wake up way earlier than my class and get some exercise to get my brain up to speed earlier and to stay more focused overall.
My word(s) for this year is SELF-CARE. I have a tendency to make sure everyone else is taking care of in every level that you can imagine, which leaves me on the back burner or not on a burner at all. Now that I’m older, this has taken a toll on my physical/mental health, so this is my year to step back and do some serious self-care. Thanks for sharing.🥰❤️
I was raised Catholic. While I love somethings about my religion there are somethings I disagree with. I’ve taught my kids that God is love. He wants us to love one another & be there for one another. That to me is the most important thing.
Jessica, watching your videos always makes me feel hopeful because to me, you always exude positivity despite what’s happening around you. Funny enough, your vlogs always encourage me to be more disciplined and organized! I thought I was hyper-organized but you and Tyler are next level! Lol. Thanks for your honesty and vulnerability. 🤍
Lol you beat me to this comment. We have Fred meyers up here which I think is the same company different name. Bc I'm in the northwest. I shop there rarely bc I'm I am still in my Walmart price stage of life lol
Thank you for talking about your thoughts on religion. I am in a limbo right now as well and it is so hard especially when your family is so set in their religion too. It’s nice to know you’re not alone ❤️
Just got my 2nd dose yesterday. Sore arm is all I feel. I also did already have covid in October. I was really sick. So any vaccine side affects are nothing to me.
@@elizabethgandara3427 I didn't have COVID (thank God) and only a sore arm after my first dose, not as bad as the flu shot for me. We'll see on Wednesday how I feel. I don't anticipate having a crazy bad reaction to it.
Discipline is such a great word of the year! Jocko Willink said "Discipline equals freedom" and I know this isn't the case for everyone but when I heard that it just made so much sense to me. My life can feel a bit out of control if I don't have a schedule of some sort, which is probably why to do lists and planners make my heart happy 😄🥰
Talk about religion more, I would love it, I grew up a Mormon, went to a Mormon University in the Us, (I live in Canada) anyways I am Christian but not a Mormon anymore.
Your followers recognize and appreciate the thought and care you put into the work you do. Thank you for all that you do to contribute to our lives with your content.
Your encouragement to just ask the Lord about things is fantastic. He is so good and he will continue to lead you. I have found he is the best source to go to in my life.
Thanks for doing these videos. I think it has helped my mental state during the pandemic, because I feel like I’m hanging out with a friend. Since we all have been social distancing, we don’t get to hang out with people, so your videos are helping to fill that void. Love you!!
I’m not religious at all but at least me personally, I don’t at all mind you talking about your beliefs. As long as it’s not someone trying to force me to believe it’s not an issue 🙂
I honestly feel it's more of a faith and relationship. I'm not religious to the point I have a specific branch I go off if. It's one thing to talk about it, another to push it on others who aren't ready or just have other views. 🥰
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable with your thoughts.... You continue to surprise and impress me with your views and what your stance is on a variety of topics. I feel like you are a total friend... in my mind as Ms Wendy Williams would say. 🥰🥰🥰
I’m still thinking about my word, because honestly it feels like survive might be the best one. But that’s not very positive. So I’m thinking about the word gentle. It’s funny that somebody asked about Fred Meyer, because it sounds like we have everything at our Fred stores that you have at Meijer. Have a wonderful week.
My word this year is reaction. I can’t change anyone else’s actions, but I can control my own reactions.
Being in HR this is our mantra lol

Thanks y’all. My aunt always said this when I was growing up and I rolled my eyes. Took me 54 years to understand how powerful my own reactions were, good or bad. And @Kelly Phillips, Thank you! I just looked at her channel. Seems really positive, I subscribed!

I’m agnostic and I love hearing people’s thoughts on religion. I love when people can explain what they believe without being preachy and I’ve never got a preachy vibe from you :)

I love hearing people's thoughts on religion as well ..even if we don't agree! 🌟

I’m an atheist but I don’t feel alienated at all when you talk about religion. It’s interesting to listen to people who have different opinions!
Same!!! She is in no way alienating people that think differently than her! One of the main reasons why I love Jessica 😍
Same. I’m a Muslim I never feel offended or any type of way when she speaks about her religion. She does it so thoughtfully and genuinely
Same! Doesn’t bother me at all. I enjoy other people’s perspective as long as it isn’t being forced on me. Last thing Jess would do is that.

Yasssss! 100% agrer 🙌🏻
I agree!
Exactly....Down time...or having fun is not "wasting time" that's just as needed as being "productive"...
Agree! Jessica is very motivated and productive. Allow down time. Not every minute of life needs to be productive.
My favorite part about Christianity it was never meant to be a religion but a relationship.
Beautiful ❤️
Yess!! 🙌🙌🥰🥰
Not sure why that never clicked in my head (maybe because of my upbringing) but framing it this way is going to help me a lot with my own struggles and journey with Christianity. Thanks!!
Exactly you are right! Religions are man made!!
We need Tyler to follow you around meijer with a camera 🤣 FlavCity style. I have never been in a meijer (So Cal girl here).
I would love that....
Meijer is like an expanded Target. It has everything, kind of like Walmart, but much more clean and friendly.
Yes, so fun we don’t have them in the northeast but who cares?! I love seeing other grocery stores 😊
@@adrienemansell4496 I completely agree! I don’t have a Trader Joe’s or a Target anywhere near me and I thoroughly enjoy watching those videos. I was just trying to give more of a perspective.
I would love to see Jess and Tyler in Meijer!! Never been...
Your comment means so much to me!! More than you know! 🤍🤍
Love how candid you are specially when talking about religion. I like how respectfully you address the issue.
On the religion topic, I’m a Christian as well and I don’t claim any denomination. The Bible doesn’t tell us to be Lutheran or Baptist or Protestant or anything except to follow Jesus!! God bless you!
Kekkelpenney Peckeltoot Amen! May God bless you and those you love this new year. 🙏🏻💕
Wow this is me too!! I grew up Christian but don't believe in being Lutheran or Baptist (etc..) just to believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy spirit 🙏🙌

That is also my word! It actually has been my word since 2018. 😀

Sweets andDandy: The Bible was written by people, yes. But what’s SO beautiful and incredible is that it was inspired by the Holy Spirit. 😍
I was also raised in a church with the wrong priorities and ended up causing a lot of pain and heartache to a lot of people because of the blasphemy. It took years but I finally found a church that focuses on relationships and meeting people where they are
💯
You guys check out the channel of my brother in christ, brother werks. His channel is Revelations of Jesus christ. Thats a REAL ministry.
:)
If it was so easy then everyone would have 600k subscribers. You put a lot of hard work into your job to get where you are..love your channel!
That’s exactly right!!
Totally agree
My word of the year is flexible. On top of an already crazy year, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in June at just age 30. I've always been a huge planner but I learned that life can change in an instant and it's so much easier to just be flexible with your situation instead of trying to control everything.
Praying for you & your ongoing battle 🤍
This is why I enjoy watching you. You’re down to earth, you’re real. Never change that 🤍
Jessicas word of the year is discipline and she seems to be more disciplined than anyone I know lol
Right!? I'm 56 and I look up to her. She has so much to share and has such good heart and sense of humor ❤️
The loss of community is so devastating 😢
@@PacificMidwest It really is. I found online groups right before the isolation swallowed me, and (even though the internet can be toxic at times too) I really feel like it saved me.

I've never heard about picking a word of the year. That's an interesting concept.
It’s pretty common in certain church backgrounds, instead of making resolutions

Bless you Yvvone. That sounds like you had so much to go through.
Jillian, check out BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN here on TH-cam. God bless!
(Of course people are going to disagree on certain points - we're human & discussing about beliefs is a good thing as long as you do it in a respectful manner)
Wish you all the best for your journey!
I just commented something so similar! Love the episcopal church!
Do you know with 100% certainty you'll go to heaven when you die? If you put 100% faith in Jesus and what he did for you, then you can be certain. Check out BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN, on TH-cam. It'll explain everything. God bless!
My word of the year is “value”. My past words were:
2020 - Dedication
2019 - Moderation
2018 - Acceptance
Yes, I would absolutely LOVE for you to do a dedicated video for the pages that you added in your planner. I am the same when it comes to planning and scheduling. I love how you are open about your depression and anxiety. I feel less alone when I hear others speak of it. Thank you for being so open and honest. Love watching your videos 😍
I never thought I'd have a word of the year either. But after my Dad's recent funeral it came to me, Allow. So that's my word for the year.
I'm so sorry for your loss... I lost my dad in 2019...every day is different... Take care of yourself. 💖
That’s brilliant. That’s a brilliant word to choose.
Omg you are a magician being able to talk AND put on eyeliner!!! I could never do that I’m so impressed 😂😂
Omg this is the coziest comment ☺️☺️
These are always my favorite videos from you! The level of stress that is lowered when watching your content is indescribable! So thank you!! ❤️
Fellow recovering Catholic here. Catholic guilt and shame is, unfortunately, a real thing. Thank you for sharing. Much love to you. 💕
Im a muslim and i love listening to other opinions and believes as well. ❤️
I have to say, this is some really healthy relationship stuff. What amazing skills to practice and nurture. Good for you!
This was the video I didn't know I needed in 2021. I appreciate how you're so honest and genuine.
I picked Focus as my word. 2020 was full of distractions and I need to Focus on what is important.
My word of the year is "Nurture." I'm expecting our first child, have neglected my hobbies and passions, and am growing in my career. My priorities have shifted to growing and promoting the development of the things I hold dear.
As a non-religious person I wanted to say that I appreciate your talk about the subject! :)
Jess you inspire me so so much. Thank you for being so honest about you Christian walk. I was brought up in between two denominations, and it has been difficult to learn what I believe about Christ. It's comforting to see someone else on the journey ❤
My word for the year: kindness. I want to work on being more kind to others and doing better things to help out more people, especially as a nurse 💗💉
I never thought of having a theme for my year but the first word that came to mind is "grateful." Although I could use discipline in my life in many ways. I think feeling grateful for this life and all its blessings, it will change my mindset.
I can get down with “structure”... “discipline” gives me agita. I definitely identify with dreading the weekends! Thanks for saying it out loud.
Also my first time ever setting a word of the year.... peace ❤️
Thank you for posting this comment. Same here, glad to know I’m not alone in this!💕
@@rachelwinberry1271 and @Breana G If you're wondering about your faith, I encourage you to check out BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN, here on TH-cam.
*Jessica* “Word of the year is discipline...*
*Me* Snarfing chips & dips and ignoring To Do List
I have been looking forward to a new coffee chat for a while. I’m on my couch and I’m ready! 😂
Have you ever thought of a "what's for dinner" video? You and Tyler cook such good things. It'd be interested to know what you have for dinner.
Meijer is basically like the setup of a Walmart, but is classy like Target 😂
Yes! I used to shop at meijer in college when I was feeling too bougie for walmart.
😂😂😂
Lol you beat me to this comment. We have Fred meyers up here which I think is the same company different name. Bc I'm in the northwest. I shop there rarely bc I'm I am still in my Walmart price stage of life lol
Thank you for talking about your thoughts on religion. I am in a limbo right now as well and it is so hard especially when your family is so set in their religion too. It’s nice to know you’re not alone ❤️
I’m a nurse so I’ve gotten my first dose and will get second dose on Monday!:) Also, I’ve felt fine if anyone is wondering:)
I've also gotten my first dose as an HCP and will be getting my second one this coming Wednesday and yes to vaccines
If you don’t mind me asking, which one did you get?
Yay!!!!!!
