We have something in common. My mom died 1yr. ago new Years eve. She made the holidays, period! Let's celebrate mom's! I've always been a fan Muttenchop!
Hello from the Philippines I am 72 been living here over 33 years now and enjoy your channel and subscribed many years ago. I have smoked pipes starting in 1973 and started with the old corn cobb haha but now have over 30 pipes but only use mostly my 6 favorite pipes. My big problem with living here in the Philippines is getting good pipe tobacco and found the Cornell Diehl finally, even though over here its very expensive but a guy has to live good and enjoy life. Thank you Sir for all your great videos I smoke my pipe every time I watch any youtube hahahaha
Loaded the pipe with this blend, sat down in front of the TV, and saw this new video in my feed. Perfect timing for a wonderful aromatic to enjoy in the living room with a fire going.
🎄🎄🎄🎄 This is an enjoyable mellow smoking mixture the vanilla flavors from the cavendish and festive Cointreau notes of orange are framed by a back palate of spiciness from the perique- this is another one I’m keeping in rotation- like autumn evening- almost a dessert tobacco. Thanks again to blend club for bringing this blend to my attention.
🎅🏽🎅🏽🎅🏽 I bought mine last year and I remember putting it away because it just wasn’t for me. I took it out this year and gave it a try. I really enjoyed it. The orange is a nice change of pace. Great video sir!
I am not a fan of flavored tobacco. I prefer a burly and Virginia and maybe a touch of Cavendish. My Tobacconist knows my taste and has my special blend put aside. I am lucky to have found a local vendor
Yup, my mom and dad have both passed on and they always made Christmas special. I bought some of this Old St. Nicholas to try out. Thanks for the review and memories. Merry Christmas and happy New Year! 🎅 🌲
🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻 One of the most pleasant aromatics I've smoked. And a perfect match for winter holiday season. Goes well along ginger tea and can make watching a Christmas movie a really enjoyable experience.
This blend seemed to really take you back in time. You spent much more time on it than usual. A tobacco that can make you cathartic, absolutely lovely.
Well done as always. So insightful on your reviews. Also, thank you for being such a humble person. I watched your video on the Ohio Pipe Show. I'm from Ohio and wish I was able to go and see you. Glad you were able to see so many people who showed their appreciation to you and your videos. I, along with so many others, learned everything from you. I'm still learning, but I can't imagine where I would be in pipe smoking and knowledge without your videos. I wish you all the best.
I’ll have to grab a few tins for next Christmas. I believe I have a few tins of Christmas cheer in my cupboard somewhere . Nothing like a nice pipe on a cold December night.
Quick question, have you ever thought of doing a live video for a Q&A session? I would love the possibility to pick your brain and hear what others have to ask. Your expertise is unprecedented and you are so genuine I know it would be amazing. Thanks!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Jolly Old St. Nick is actually my favorite blend! I smoke it in my Lorenzetti 9mm, and this combination just seems to work for me. I bought 3 tins back in 2018 & was nursing it because I thought that was all I’d ever have…when C&D re-released it in 2022, I was happy! I picked up 3 more tins last year & I haven’t touched them yet. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, MCP!
🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅 The orange really came out when we popped the tin. Was a little tough to keep lit at first. It has a creamy note to it. Can taste the ginger, and a little sweetness on the tongue. Would be good after dinner smoke. 🎅🎅🎅🎅 I (Mrs. Whitetail) liked this one. Very little tongue bite, smelled very nice. Slightly sweet. Love the orange scent when popped open the tin.
Thank you for the compliment, I hopefully plan on producing more content for everyone to feast on. Also, thanks so much for being a member, it really helps
🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is a pretty decent aromatic. Not one that I can smoke often. Just occasionally. Really smooth and mild. And I didn't get any bite from this one. I really enjoyed the orange flavor in it and also picked up what I thought was ginger. Could be just me on that one. But it's definitely a good blend.
🎉🎉 Happy New Year 2024🍾 On the positive side, the quality of this blend/product is excellent. I had to force myself to smoke it during December hoping that my opinion would change. I give it two emojis because for me, it smoked like an over spiced, over flavored Holiday Latte from a vending machine. Cheers 🍻 looking forward to Blend Club 2024 🎉
🍊🎄 🍊🎄 400th ‘like’ right here. Little behind on the blend club. Holidays and end of year loose ends can get in the way. In any case, liked it very much. Amazing tin note and flavor true to description. I will say it doesn’t remind me of Christmas per se as much as say Button Nose and We Three Kings, but certainly of a festive nature good for the season itself. A fall/winter aromatic for certain. I’ll leave it there. Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year’s Muttnchop!
🦊🦊🦊 This blend is a nice light smoke. The flavor notes of the liquor, as mutton said, does drive the bus. The subtlety of the other note gives it a pleasant complexity. Smooth smoke not a rough retrohail. I give it a 3 but feel it's a blend that grows on you. I have smoked 3 bowls since this video came out and each time I find myself enjoying it more. I will say to get it to light better you can airate it with your hands and spread it out a little before packing. On my experience it made it light much easier
🎄🎄🎄 Good as far as aromatics go. This one surprised me, because I enjoyed it. 😊 My notes were: Very ginger-forward. By the end of the smoke the flavoring was mostly obscured by the tobacco, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I didn’t pick up any of the orange liqueur in the smoke, but the scent is strong out of the can.
Afternoon Muttnchop, new piper here have been thoroughly enjoying your videos and find them incredibly informal. I plan to tag along with the blend club in the near future as a way to explore blends. I was curious if you touch on uneven burns at all, i tend to always have one half of my bowl that burns slower than the rest due to it not staying lit. Thanks for the videos and the humble approach of sharing your wealth of knowledge. I look forward to many more videos watched, both old and new.
🎅 🎅 🎅 🎅 I get basically the same flavors as you. Orange liqueur, ginger and maybe the cavendish in like a brown sugar sort of way. Taste great, smells great makes a wonderful Christmas time tobacco.
Hello, First awesome videos and expert delivery of knowledge and practice. I am binge watching your videos and learning so much. How can I purchase a pipe polo shirt?
🎄🎄🎄🎄 I gave this tobacco, Jolly, old Saint Nick a 4 Christmas tree rating. I enjoyed the orange scents both in sniffing and smoking. For me i had all he qualities I expect to find in a Christmas smoke. I’m looking forward to the 2024 Blend Club and debating if I should break into my January Quiet Nights or wait for tomorrow.
🎄🎄 Like you Chris my tin had a little over year of age when I cracked it. The liqueur note was very strong at first. After moving the tobacco to a jar it has settled down somewhat. My first couple of smokes have been okay but not great. The orange notes make for a very different flavor than I’m used to, and don’t necessarily play well with the natural tobacco flavor. I’m hoping a little more time in the jar will further mute the orange and allow the Virginias and Perique to come out more. I know from other blends like Orlik Golden Sliced that a little citrusy tang can play well with Virginias and Perique but, as you also stated, so far this is all about the cased Cavendish.
Didn't get to purchase the December blend. Picked up next months Quiet Nights. Smoking it as i type. Looking forward to the next blend club video. Happy Holidays!🎉
💜💜💜💜 Greetings, I will give this 4 Purple Hearts due to the fact it is one aromatic that burned well with no bite and gave some extraordinary flavors. Upon opening the tin just one year old I find that the tobacco is moist. The inside cover is damp but when I flip it over there were oil spots on it. I let it dry out in the bowl for about 20-30 min. before I light up and it responded pretty good. I never had a orange liqueur before so even though I get the Orange Flavor some of the Ginger comes in and out which makes it interesting to figure out who is who. The sweetness from the Cavendish seems to give some body to the smoke but only a slight sweetness and I think more of the sweet tones come from the Virginia. Still it is the Orange flavor and room note that I get. This is not overly topped and has full flavor, medium to full body, low strength and I smoked it in a Meerschaum Lined Billard Pipe but I will try in a briar just to see if there is any difference. I would recommend this to someone else particularly someone who is starting out with aromatics. Oddly Cornell and Diehl did not produce this blend for this year so if you like a change of pace this is definitely one to try!!! All this coming from someone who is not a traditional aromatic smoker but always willing to try something that doesn't have that chemical taste and over goopy! Also smokes down to a grey ash to the bottom and little to no dottle. This does that for me.
🌲🌲. This is the first tobacco this year that I really wasn’t a huge fan of. The tin note is very nice. The orange really comes through. I couldn’t pick up and of the tobacco scents, but that’s really to be expected. The moisture level was just about perfect. I feel the orange liquor was just a little too much for me. The ginger did add a nice little Christmas note for sure. Over all it was just eh to me. The room note is very mild and it didn’t bother my wife too much. It’s not too bad as far as aromatics go, just not really my cup of tea. I would recommend that it is worth a try if you like orange liqueur. Great video MUTTNCHOP! I’m looking forward to next years batch of tobaccos, I’ve already picked up most of them.
Hey Mutton Chop I just watched your pipe breathing method and gave it a try and I just getting the hang of it But It Works. I just finished a full bowel of C&D Black Cherry 🍒 and it was a great smooth smoke and very tasty !!! All the way to the bottom!!! Thanks for that great video I will recommend to all my fellow pipers!!👍👍🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒 Thanks can’t was
⭐. The moisture was spot on, and smelled nice in the tin. That's about the only good things I found with this one. The topping didn't sit well with me, tasted astringent, bitter, slightly spicy, and slightly of chemicals. Tin was fresh, so age might change it, but I'm not sure I want to try again.
🎁🎁🎁🎁 out of 5 I have a 5 yr old tin I decided this was the year to open it. The smell wasn't pleasant, it smelled like vomit to be quite honest. I was very close to tossing it in the trash. But there wasn't any mold or anything so I decided to smoke some. I wasn't liking it at first because I didn't realize what I was tasting. Then I read about the orange liquor and ginger then it started making sense. I let it air out a day then came back to it and wow! I noticed it was very smooth, zero bite even puffing fast. As I realized how good it was I was happy I didn't toss it out. I burned through half the tin in a couple weeks (I never do that).
Nice review! I was thinking your draw on that pipe must be pretty hard because it looked like you tamped that tobacco in there pretty good! Does that help cut down on the moisture in the bottom or in the stem? I've been packing mine pretty light lately and get more moisture that I'd like. Also, as a different topic, I just picked up the game Everdell Collector's Edition. Ever heard of it? It requires a bit of a setup but you can play it solo or with friends. So far, I've set it up and then it got too late so I've yet to actually play a game. But from all the reviews, it seems like a great game! Happy New Year!
I didn’t know people with diabetes and asthma can still smoke pipe with out coughing a lot with the smoke in your mouth I one to give it a put I have diabetes and asthma but it wood be nice to relax because I worry about everything.

Sounds good. I'll have to try it. I'm not big on cinnamon flavors. So this sounds like it be interesting.
Happy holidays Muttonchop, and have a happy new year!
🥰🥰🥰🥰 I have a 5 year old tin of the original release. Really good stuff.
Hello Chris, how are you doing ?
will you ever make a video about your grandfather again ?
Doing well, wasn't planning on it, but now that you mention it, I have some good stories about him, so yes, might just make some about him

what kind of pipe are you smoking in this video? i know in previous ones you have used your savinelli 122 porto cervo. i have one myself.
Does anyone know if muttnchop has a P.O. Box or somewhere to send him things too?
So I guess it tastes like orange slices candy
Couldn't find this one ssdly
?????? Do you like this or Kringle flake better???????
Nice hiss!
I didn’t know people with diabetes and asthma can still smoke pipe with out coughing a lot with the smoke in your mouth I one to give it a put I have diabetes and asthma but it wood be nice to relax because I worry about everything.
Just dont inhale and smoke in moderation and you should be fine
How does it compare to corn Cobb pipe and a button nose or we 3 kings. I really liked the first but 3 kings was disappointing.
🎉🎉 Did not care much for this one. The only two aromatics I liked this year is Boswell's Cupcake and Country Squire's Mirkwood.
Don’t taste the way it smelled
😕😕😕
