I love the engagement between Jesus and the Virgin Mary; Vanessa and Jonathan truly come across as mother and son with that exchange.
Jesus had brothers and sisters. We know James was one brother. In Jewish culture, they encourage married couples to have children. To think she was a virgin the entire time she was married is unrealistic and against Jewish law. It is not correct to think being a virgin made Mary pure is not an accurate understanding of Scripture or Jewish customs. Mathew 1:25 tells us they did not come together until after Jesus was born.. Mark 3:31-32 talks about Jesus having brothers

This is one of my favorite scenes so far. I really feel like I am there down on the ground with all of them. Wow, what a sight to behold- the Saviour of the world. God in the flesh. I will say it again, this show is truly anointed. I'm so excited for season 3 this weekend.

I like these scenes. Of course, the apostles as the future leaders of the Early Church get the spotlight in the Gospels (also since the Evangelists themselves were either apostles or their direct followers). However, it is clear that the disciples included many women, preeminent among which is the Blessed Virgin Mary. Just a reminder that Christ's most faithful follower worked in the background.
There is no indication that Mary followed her son around giving him emotional support. Not even Catholic scholars support that position. The Bible tells us that she was at the foot of the Cross when Jesus was crucified and in the prayer meeting after his resurrection.
@@HiHoSilvey Well it is not Church doctrine though there are writings by mystics among them Sr Mary Agreda who claimed to have mystical visions from the Blessed Virgin Mary detailing her life not recorded in Scripture. As it is private revelation, it is not necessary to believe in it though her writings received the imprimatur which means that what she wrote has nothing contrary to the faith. That said, the Gospels show that many women provided for Jesus and the Apostles and they primarily played support roles. I think it likely that Mary would have followed her Son and supported His mission.

For Dallas Jenkins to portray Jesus as needing to rehearse his sermon means that he fails to understand that Jesus, in his humanity, had made himself dependent on the Father for everything he said and did.
John 12:49-50. “For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”
The fact that Jesus was fully man did NOT mean that he suffered lack in his understanding. He did NOT lay aside his deity but only the privilege that accompanied his deity.
What really raises my hair is his joking comment to his mother that she shouldn’t be proud of him yet since he might mess up before the crowd!
I’m not trying to throw a wet blanket over The Chosen but I plead with Christians who are watching to exercise discernment. I find that the least criticism of this production makes people very defensive. It’s OK to question and to be like the Bereans who studied the word to see if what they heard lined up with Scripture.
Ma'am if you do not like the Chosen that is fine, but don't plead to other Christians that they shouldn't watch it because it doesn't fit with your exact exegesis. I have read the Bible front to back and I do not see anything wrong with this show. Jesus knows us as he took part in every human inconvenience possible. If the show is getting people curious about the Bible and God's love why are you holding Dallas Jenkins and Jonathan Roumie back and planting doubts about this that don't need to be planted.

I think it's fair to know its not a 100% accurate depiction of scripture, overall it's message and fruit is good, but there are a few nitpicks i disagree with
This kinda reminds me of _The Da Vinci Code_ or something.
Similar in that it's blasphemous Christian fan-fiction designed for one purpose: money.
Love the show but just one thing though. Lord Jesus Christ did not had to prepare for a sermon, according to the first chapter of John Jesus Christ is the Word Of God, therefore he already knew what he was going to say. This is something that the director needs to fix before continuing with the series immediately.
The series never says he prepares what He's going to say,

@@ladshawn4534 Matthew is the only gospel with written records of the sermon on the mount. Obviously he had a close up seat to everything that was happening during it and wrote down all of Jesus' words

@@ladshawn4534 Of course He does, but feeling nervous is also a human emotion, and it's plausible that Jesus felt nervous before speaking before a crowd. It's like when he mourned Lazarus' death despite knowing He would bring him back to life mere moments later

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Jesus did not look beautiful, he look like a common man. Using the colors to dress him is not Biblical but more gentiles and specific catholic system which is wrong. Pagan use colors for what they described. Purple was put on Jesus when they mocked him with scarlet, purple and blue! Not to present him in the mount. They used to mock and kill Jesus! John 19:2 KJV

Jesus uses Gold for meaning of crown 👑 and he is the king of kings. Why do you think the wise men brought Gold !
