I am one lucky guy who knows both English and German language. And I want to thank you guys at 1000 PS so much for the best and unbiased reviews on the internet so far...thanks for doing a very very good job. I really appreciate. Also vielen dank für alles was ihr bis jetzt mit uns verteilt habt. Danke euch sehr... :)
This is the best sound i have heard from the africa twin, it sounded pretty tame in the other review videos i've seen... i can't wait to hear it in person with an aftermarket exhaust
I think from a style standpoint, it is one of the best looking bikes I've seen. It would be difficult to choose a color as I like them all! It seems to be quite competent off road which is very nice. It's good you can disable ABS on the rear tire for dirt as well. 95hp is probably plenty for what this bike is intended for but after living with a bike with similar hp, I understand why people might ask for more. Maybe the best option is to have two bikes. One like this and one that makes you shit your pants! :D As always, a superbly done and very informative program from you guys!!
+Greg got away I agree, but 95hp is absolutely plenty... especially when the 70hp ktm has a map switch to cut the power for offroading.. the only time you are going to be using most of that hp is highway cruising. if people say they need more than that on a baja style bike then they are not doing something right... I struggle to use the 50hp that my Ktm lc4 has offroad.
I am very happy you made this in English. German's are known to be honest and serious about their reviews and it would be great to understand what you say ;) Keep up the good job :)
Great comprehensive video; well Done! I'm looking forward to test-riding the Africa Twin this summer in the U.S. due in part to your review. Thank You!
I'm happy to see this review, and not just the promotional videos. This very positive review complicates my life a bit. ;-) It's all good for those of us disposed to these big adventure bikes.
Thank you for the honest review...especially about engine power, handling and overall enjoyment. I just want a bigger XR650L with automatic...tired of clutching
I love the look and concept. I am interested to know if there is any nostalgia in any of the reviews coming out of the South Africa test. Will the journalists regret their comments when they put this bike back to back with the current crop of bikes? Or will the bike shine. I hope so.
You did a very good job introducing this beautiful bike to us . I can tell you are very into Adventure Bikes cause even with your accident I knew and understood the important points you covered . Americans have trouble with accents but Old Bikers understand Bench Racing Lingo even if it's in an accent Ha!Ha! Job Well Done ! I want an African Twin even if I'm 70 years old !
Excellent review - thank you very much for the review being in English. The only thing I'm jealous of is the Africa Twin is so much cheaper in Germany than in the UK.
I've cut 4th gear at about 200km/h, surely wasnt expecting that, it never felt it was going that fast (I rarely look at the instrument panel on my bike :s), nor would I ever think an adventure bike would be hitting such speed so soon. Loved it. I actually tried to get the dealer to exchange my humble bike for this one right there on the spot - I ride a 700GS
I was considering the NC750 DCT before I tried and end up surrendering to the BMW GS series (unfortunately the 700 was the only I could afford back then), and since then I've always thought the Hondas to be inferior to the beemers, but that changed when I tried this ride. I can say that I'm deep in love now :)
I like your test and your review . I'm from South Africa , and have a 98 Africa Twin and have a 2005,5 KTM 950 ADVENTURE . I'm still struggling to REALLY like the bike . I love my KTM too much and my Africa Twin . I guess once I take a test ride I might change my mind .
Thanks for doing an English report!! all of 1000ps reports always look really good but sometimes no english option is given, so thanks again! . Great bike by the looks of it, all of the colours are nice, the HP is just about right i suppose, it may make the others open their eyes now a bit and realise that not everybody wants or needs a 160hp adventure bike. I'd like to see a "special" version, maybe a "dakar" or a "HRC" version, with say, a full Termignoni system on it etc. The only thing i would question is Hondas own luggage, it didn't look to great at the NEC show back in November, but you can always buy something else i suppose, i tend to travel light, top box only with a small bag strapped on the back seat.... cant wait to ride one!
I have the Honda Crosstourer DCT and a few owners were concerned that Honda would kill the Crosstourer for this bike. I have ridden this bike and it is excellent for what it was built for however I do not want to go off road I want to tour and commute and in the touring mode the Crosstourer is in a different class so much torque once on the move the bike is effortless loads of grunt in every gear silky smooth and with the DCT you have the option of fully automatic semi automatic or full manual using the hand gear change. If you haven't ridden a DCT Honda do yourself a favour and try it. Both bikes are there or there about when it comes to best in class. Unfortunately BMW is still suffering from some serious reliability issues including engine failures, electronic failures etc KTM has a bad rep with the dealers and good old Honda keeps going from strength to strength.
I find your review to be the best from an Adventure riders standpoint.. While other manufacturers are caught in the fat pig syndrome of putting out bigger heavier more street biased bikes, Honda slips in and puts out a bike that works... The last thing we need is another 150 HP porker, there are more than enough of those out there already... Another thing I'm glad to see is that they stayed clear of the under seat fuel tank, instead going with the conventional forward tank... Under seat fuel is great for an empty bike, but on one designed to carry luggage the COG moves farther back making for a twitchy front end... Having the fuel forward helps to balance a loaded bike and reduce that twitch... Great job Honda, now it's time to fill the void in the 500-700 CC Adventure class ...
I commute almost every day with my motorcycle, also during winter. My bike isn't really the best for highway commuting (street triple) therefore I was looking for a KTM adventure or BMW GS, both very expensive, both with their own issues. The GS Adventure is probably made for adv. touring, but is seen mostly on the highway, filtering during rush hour. The Africa Twin is probably made for dirt roads, but do you think it will be as perfect for highway commuting? The price is better, and it looks great, only the very high seat and the huge spoked wheels bother me a little bit...
Good review but he lie. I ride fast on this and I DID shit the pants. I have to ride another 100 kilometer before I find bathroom for to clean the underwears.

La mejor review sobre la Africa Twin con diferencia. Enhorabuena.

Your reviews are always first class...
I love how he says Honda didn't try to make a 2nd best compared to the GS. They focus on adventuring touring. Can't wait for this come state side!

Thanks for the English review mate! Great job!
Your review did justice to this bike. Great review.
The white colour scheme is exquisite and the red is really handsome to
always love watching your channel and video - although not understand any of it...
but you finally made a english version - please keep it going!!
Thank you for the honest review...especially about engine power, handling and overall enjoyment. I just want a bigger XR650L with automatic...tired of clutching

The Africa Twin looks so Awsome!

price in Canada is 13k, this is a steal. Amazing bike.

I like when the guy said "Honda didn't try to make the best second GS..."
how much are they? are they available in the u.s.?
Did you find any "cons" in the bike? (as per the video's title) I'm the happy owner of a 1993 Africa Twin in Switzerland
Whats the song in the beginning of this video?
I would like to know as well :)
+Mohamad Surihardi Ngarip Muscle Prodigy - Doing the Activity Right
+Burak DAĞDEVİREN Muscle Prodigy - Doing the Activity Right ;)
+Julio Silva MANY thanks
+Julio Silva Thank you very much.. epic soundtrack to ride with..
Is the petrol cap hinged or a separate piece?
+TS50ER Hinged
I still love my super tenere but I think the Africans twins will be more for the hardcore off-road Rider
Why is it that only one headlight is on in every Africa Twin video? Bothers me.
+Daniel Simmons That shit was bugging me as well, I wonder if the second light is the high beam
the other one is high beam.just like kawasaki versys
Nick Burton cf
I agree. Looks silly, like one headlight is burned out.
An XLV Varadero morphed in Afrika Twin...

This is an add and no review. Sad
the bike vibrates too much, you need to take a break every 30 minutes =/
DO NOT BUY
+Pacemaker Transalp get a boxer engine, or an engine with at least 3 cylinders. The more cylinders, the better.
