A lot of us really appreciate using a clutch lever/gearshift assembly. That's a lot of the appeal of riding a motorcycle (and standard transmission cars) to me.
Interesting comment about the throttle cable. It is my understanding that my VFR1200D has the throttle sensor on the engine and the throttle cable doesn't have a direct mechanical connection to the throttle. It will be interesting to look into this more. I was disappointed the VFR1200D didn't have cruise control.
My XL 750 has come a long way. DCT reliability? Always fix a manual out in the boonies if you carry a spare cable. Think I maybe too set in my ways to go for an Automatic bike. Looks like a very nice bike which ever version you go for.
***** From what I hear, Suzuki isn't putting any electronic rider aides on it's 2017 gsxr 1000, I bet honda doesn't either. Honda and Suzuki seem to be like two peas in a pod. lol
The day all bikes have DCT I stop riding bikes !!! Not for me ! Never !!! Clutch it is , I ride it , I control it !!! Those engineers can take all that electronic BS and shove it where the sun doesn't shine...... Pure bikes without electronics are getting rare what a shame......!!!
+RETICS1 Can't say for sure with your height, but I'll make another recommendation. The new Shoei Hornet X2 helmet I'm wearing does an excellent job reducing the wind buffeting ADV helmet with visors suffer.
Does anyone know what is camera or app used to track speed, incline, etc on with the video?? It's not a gopro, looks like part of the camera function...
I wouldn't worry about too much for lack of C.Control. Im almost positive "Shamu on Heels" (VFR1200X) has C.C...and if it doesn't bu now, well...shame on you Honda! I would totally dig this thing, DCT version but with the Supermoto treatment(17" wheels strictly for effortless paved roads touring in a diet and budget). That said, i would still rock this thing one way or the other. 😎👍
How is a motorcycle that is 509lbs wet even called a ADV bike and did Honda forget about there XR650L that would be a much better ADV bike than the CRF1000L if they would just update it with EFI and ABS the XR650L is only 320lbs wet big mistake by Honda IMO.
+altruistic Have to agree. I liked the bike and then saw the weight - people have to muscle these things right? Mayeb OK for the big strong young fellas but what about us old weaklings under 6 ft? I can't figure out why such big lumps like this are so popular - does anyone actually take them off road? There is a lot of weight to heave around. If all a person wanted was a bike for shingle roads there are surely plenty of road bikes that handle that well enough - I have one: Honda NC700S.

The DCT is great, the ABS is great, and it all makes riding a lot more safe/fun in the city.

A throttle cable is perfect for a trail bike and easy to fix somewhere in the bush...
