Im going to see this movie on friday. My dad grew up in cali during this time and went through struggles as a young black man so i know he's excited to see this film too. Im glad this movie is coming out in a time where were having issues in Ferguson, Baltimore, etc. ✌🏾️👊🏾✊🏾
I am a black man (neva mind my screen name) and I automatically expected them to dislike the movie. Especially the white woman. But to hear her really understand the movie and give a fair impression was great. Even if she disliked it, I d appreciate how honest I feel she is being. I have to check my own prejudices....I apologize for stereotyping that a White Woman would automatically hate a NWA movie.
80's and 90's rap music was the best.. There were some substance in the rap, it was raw and real.. Now it's pure shit.. lets be real... Can't wait to see this movie
MobiusCoin yeah I think gibbs is the perfect synthesis of west coast gangsta rap and the gangsta rap that came from the south. He has that classic hard but effortless flow. His album with madlib called piñata is really solid. Especially the track thuggin which has one of the most understated build ups I have heard in any hip hop track. Gibbs is on fire and has an amazing kind of simmering cool aggression which I think is unparalleled in modern rap. I am not sure why he isn't mentioned more in contemporary hip hop conversation because to me he seems one of the best representing solid, lyrical gangsta rap.
HANDS DOWN the BEST movie of the year (not even gonna say "so far" because I know this will stay at the top for me for quite a while). I mean as a film-love and a die hard Hip Hop-lover...I've ALWAYS wanted to see a movie that combines the two in the most beautiful way...THE ONLY movie that came close (besides documentaries) was "DOPE" which came out this Summer. While DOPE started this Summer off right with a fresh, original story featuring Hip Hop...STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON triumphantly finishes the Summer with the biggest bang in a while. BEAUTIFULLY shot (to the point some scenes you get chills because it just looks SO RAW and energetic..and many LONG-SHOTS that last over a minute). The acting was flawless (goes with the casting too, EVERYONE...shit even Tupac was perfectly cast). The music (Roy Ayers' song "Everybody Loves the Sunshine") when Dr. Dre is introduced and it has a Summer-time glow to it that feels nostalgic actually made my eyes water a little bit...because I always wanted a SUMMER movie to be all about this, and that song along is extremely nostalgic and gorgeous sounding...and seeing all those Vinyl records surrounding Dr. Dre as he zones out to the music...reminded me of myself in the Summer all my life and I swear I got choked up just by that alone. Eazy-E in the hospital made me straight up hold tears back...the acting was so powerful that it was sad but beautiful to see. I always hoped a Hip Hop group would shine in the Hollywood spotlight....and Hollywood...hats off to you, you FINALLY released something that is not only beautiful, unique, and freshly original....BUT NOT A FUCKING SEQUEL, OR REMAKE, OR REBOOT, OR SUPERHERO MOVIE!!! wow...good for you Hollywood, too bad it had nothing to do with you but just your studios releasing it, but DAMN this was just too phenomenal. I was pissed...my friend (who eventually got into Rap and asked me questions about Eazy-E and Tupac MANY TIMES since he knows I loves it) didn;t feel like going because "he never listened to N.W.A. a lot" I was like "YOU DON'T HAVE TO...you don't even have to know who they are to appreciate the movie, but you DO know them so why not?"...I just kept hearing excuses and said whatever and still went with my other friend (who only knows about 2 N.W.A songs and he LOOOOOOVED the movie just like I did) we laughed, we even cried because we were hiding our watery eyes from eachother (I could tell because a minute later after an emotional scene involving Dre's brother...I looked at him to say something and his eyes were watery so I didn't say anything for a minute but I said "I feel ya bro...I feel ya" lol). OMG this movie had laughs, cries, cheers....BRAVO. Anyone who doesn't see this because "they don't like Rap" or think its about praising gangstas or something is so close-minded you don't even DESERVE to see this incredible film. Yea lets keep it like that, doesn't matter how much money this movie makes..I just want OPEN MINDED people and REAL people to see this, not fakes who judge everything and everyone by their cover and ASSUME they glorify violence, sex, and drugs...anyone with that logic, do us all a favor and go watch Jurassic World or something, atleast that movie is so terribly stupid with it's bland dialogue, ugly effects, and boring flat characters that you'll probably enjoy that much more than this INCREDIBLY energetic and triumphant film. BTW....anyone else feel like THIS was more of an Avengers film than Age of Ultron? I barely remember ANY of that movie, I mean it wasn't bad but just felt like every other Superhero movie...THIS felt like an origins story for Hip Hop Avengers...yeah, that goes to show even THIS MOVIE was a better Superhero movie than Ultron.
It was a great movie. The end felt like a tribute to Easy E and I thought it was great. I loved how they kept comparing themselves to Barry Gordie. It is so true. Their music puts me in the settings where I first heard them.
Some of you reviewers are having issues with the 3rd act because in interviews Gray said he had to cut an hour to get it to the current running time. He also stopped short of saying there will be a director's cut in the interview.
The intro to this movie was so intense. It had that Banshee feel to it and one of the shows actors in the beginning. I guess that had something to do with it.
I know less about rap than these guys. I actually had never heard of NWA until I saw the trailer for this a while back. Still, I'm interested in seeing this.
I hope if a movie about Nirvana or Alice in Chains is ever made or the ones already in production for Janis Joplin, Hank Williams, Elton John, they will be as supposedly well made as this one and well advertised! We've had musical biopics for Joy Division, The Runaways and most recently which Paul Giamatti also was in this Summer Brian Wilson's Love and Mercy. I feel they should have gotten just as much publicity as SOC!
TheRelentlessKnight That last act isn't bad, it's just not as good as the first two acts, which were outstanding. The last act wasn't as cohesive. The scene with Snoop and Dre doing Nuthin' But a G Thang came out of nowhere and was mainly a nod for the fans, I liked it, but it felt a bit out of place. The ending would have been perfect right when Eazy-E died, but I'm sure Dr. Dre asked for the little plug at the end, which also felt out of place.
I personally liked the last act. You had to have those two characters in there because they are a big part of Dre's story. Good review guys. I think that the 2 characters introduced in the 3rd act are so big that it kind of felt rushed because you would want more setup because of the magnitude of those characters.
This movie was legit. I adore this movie. Suge Knight scares me to this day. O'shea did an amazing job as his father! It was unreal. Best movie of the year!
Yeah haven't seen the movie yet but I don't see why Ren is a supporting character? I mean I have all the NWA albums, I grew up listening to hip hop and Ren was the other main MC. I would argue that a lot of his lyrics are better than cubes and he was the only one who stayed with Easy after the break up.
My guess is the Ren is seen as having a failed solo career, and that "nobody" even remembers Yella? I think Ice Cube and Ren could rap far better than Dre or Eazy. Oh, well... Still, it's cool they made the movie.
Michael Madore He was also in Thunderpants, but I'll watch the movie Ass from Idiocracy if he has a minor role. The man is a treasure. The same goes for John Hurt and Cate Blanchette, and they were BOTH in Crystal Skull.
Great review, sorry you all did not American Ultra though, anyhow..... you convinced me to go see this, thanks. for my spooky friends, 12:10 H25 on Power
Really enjoyed this. It's a fairly standard music biopic that hits all the beats that most biopics do but it's very well done. The biggest strength of this film is the performances and the music. Well worth watching. :)
I'm just plain happy that I'll be able to see this movie on September 30th! Gotta thank Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for me to appreciate and like these stuff.
The movie was inaccurate Tupac was not with death row when Eazy E died, he was incarcerated, when Eazy E died "Me against the world" was the #1 album and went 4x plat. also Eazy was fucking with Bone and he also was cool with with Naughty by nature during his beef with Death row.
This movie was excellent, from an african american movie goer. I loved it. Very very well scripted and depicted. Love love the music. Hahhahahaha.... They are trying to get the words down to Cube's rap...
This is b.s. The second half was great too! you have three main characters that went in different directions in their lives. Stop slandering this movie
George Lyons Skip the trailer then, and just watch the review. I've only seen little bits of this film, as I've avoided the trailers so I can go in and experience the film without knowing too much. b1bbs g0t h4nds They don't have the time to watch every movie, they already watch a ton, only a portion they talk abou in WTF reviews. And they did already do movies considered "black" before, what is that dude called whose story is always the same?
b1bbs g0t h4nds They have a reviewer Ben. He sees one out of five movies they review. But he will ask questions like someone wondering if it's worth seeing...or play with his smartphone.
I know they say that this is not really accurate and they gloss over some facts, but I-d really commend you to read this review from one of the women Dr. Dre beat up. I know it's just a movie and they do were revolutionary at the time, but I hate that important facts are overlooked. gawker.com/heres-whats-missing-from-straight-outta-compton-me-and-1724735910

The bloopers at the end are great, Alonso asking Siri and everything. Can't wait to see the film.
It's good.
The best review these guys have ever done... Great Job!!!!
Totally agree, not sure why Alonso was there but it was a really good review
Their lyrics are absolutely still relevant! A bitch is still a bitch!
I died at the end LOL
kaatyblue Rest in Piece!
kaatyblue They were so cute at the end!

It's official. Straight Outta Compton is a great film.
80's and 90's rap music was the best.. There were some substance in the rap, it was raw and real.. Now it's pure shit.. lets be real... Can't wait to see this movie
3 or 4 true artists left. Personaly Vince Staples is the legacy of that era to me.
Dasha Jean You want a continuation of rap music in the 90's tradition, FBZ, Pro Era, The Underachievers.
arturoicetre Freddie Gibbs
James Rowsell Okay, just checked him out. He's got mad flow. Thanks for the recommendation!
MobiusCoin yeah I think gibbs is the perfect synthesis of west coast gangsta rap and the gangsta rap that came from the south. He has that classic hard but effortless flow. I been waiting to see this movie literally since I heard they were making it.
HA, Christy at the end fixing her hair and saying "we're journalists"...priceless.
I loved this movie. 4.5/5
you guys got it right... this movie was great!
So happy this was well done. Great review guys
Good to see he acknowledged there are "two to three other movies" in there when they're going to capitalize on the Snoop and Tupac story next.
HANDS DOWN the BEST movie of the year (not even gonna say "so far" because I know this will stay at the top for me for quite a while). Paradox: Pirating a movie about a music group; Am I pirating movies or music or both?
It was a great movie. The end felt like a tribute to Easy E and I thought it was great. I loved how they kept comparing themselves to Barry Gordie. It is so true. Their music puts me in the settings where I first heard them.

We're journalists.. 😂😂
Good review, super funny ending!!
Great editing at the end there!
Cackling at that ending of you guys researching the lyrics. Adorable.
I know nothing about rap at all and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Learned a lot as well, even though I know it's Dre and Cube's Authorised Version.
The intro to this movie was so intense. It had that Banshee feel to it and one of the shows actors in the beginning. I guess that had something to do with it.
alonso looks so sad that he didn't see the flick.
I've listened to a bunch of these reviews and whenever they mention the members they always leave out yella and ren that's some ol bullshit
Ice Cube has a net worth of $140 million.
CB4 Part 2?
Why is everyone stressing the the first 2 acts are good and the last one is bad? How else would you wrap this movie up?
The execution could have been much better
Dasaun McClinton I mean eazy really dies and everyone goes their separate ways in the end. You want them riding off on rainbows or some shit?
TheRelentlessKnight That last act isn't bad, it's just not as good as the first two acts, which were outstanding. The last act wasn't as cohesive. The scene with Snoop and Dre doing Nuthin' But a G Thang came out of nowhere and was mainly a nod for the fans, I liked it, but it felt a bit out of place. The ending would have been perfect right when Eazy-E died, but I'm sure Dr. Dre asked for the little plug at the end, which also felt out of place.
TheRelentlessKnight well unicorns would have been nice ;)
+Marz916 I wish they would of showed more of Cube in the 3rd instead just nods to him starting his acting career
The end was hilarious
Wacky D is in the house
Wacky D is in the house
I got sweat on my balls my balls my balls I got sweat on my biggied balls
Matt was late to the NWA party? Like, no way.
Less Ice Cube, more Vanilla Ice...
Kevan Dalzell Snow!!
I personally liked the last act. You had to have those two characters in there because they are a big part of Dre's story. Good review guys. I think that the 2 characters introduced in the 3rd act are so big that it kind of felt rushed because you would want more setup because of the magnitude of those characters.
alonso saying "cube" and "dre" was really funny to me
Christy said, "Hazy glow . . . nostalgia, pot smoke, and" smog. LOL
This movie was legit. I adore this movie. Suge Knight scares me to this day. O'shea did an amazing job as his father! It was unreal. Best movie of the year!
Because of that ending, I'm liking this video. Keep it up WTF ya'll are the best.
Keep up the good work guys. Glad to hear this isn't a bland bio pic (like 90% of biopics)
The end is the best with the bloopers
There were also two other members, Yella and Ren.
I mean, I've read Eazy didn't even write his own lyrics!
+Kevan Dalzell Ren was dope too, I'm 18 now and I used to sneak and listen to NWA in 6th grade and Ren was my favorite and was a key member
Anything with Paul Giamatti is worth watching.
Michael Madore He was also in Thunderpants, but I'll watch the movie Ass from Idiocracy if he has a minor role. The man is a treasure.
The same goes for John Hurt and Cate Blanchette, and they were BOTH in Crystal Skull.
I was really into this, like Christy said it was electrifying .. until Suge Knight showed up. I just felt the film completely slowed down after that.
Three middle-aged critics looking up the opening to Straight Outta Compton on their phones has to be the whitest thing I have ever seen.
Represent!
Great review, sorry you all did not American Ultra though, anyhow..... you convinced me to go see this, thanks. for my spooky friends, 12:10 H25 on Power
Great movie!! It shows the success of overcoming adversity, the price of fame, and birth of West coast rap music. Rip Eazy E
Great review
Really enjoyed this. It's a fairly standard music biopic that hits all the beats that most biopics do but it's very well done.
The biggest strength of this film is the performances and the music.
Well worth watching.
:)
Christy is from my "hood".....awesome.
You guys were probably the ones stomping on those CDs back in the day
Great review guys! We appreciate all your research and fact checking...lol, for real tho...we do!

Good stuff guys. Love the channel.

RIP Eazy E
Christy is a G
Anyone have security at their screening? That was pretty funny.
I'm just plain happy that I'll be able to see this movie on September 30th!
Gotta thank Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for me to appreciate and like these stuff.

Good movie. Not too factual, but a good watch. Btw... NWA overall was a negative movement that help destroy hip-hop.
why was that one guy even there?
can not wait
I dont really follow rap, but it came out on my birthday, so I will see it next week.
Ugh, now Matt Atchity is doing the "Right?" thing too.
Ron
This is gonna win best picture.
really great recap
This movie was excellent, from an african american movie goer. I loved it. Very very well scripted and depicted. Love love the music. Hahhahahaha.... They are trying to get the words down to Cube's rap...
I saw the movie 3x`s and it was excellent. Great job by the whole entire staff.
i dont think cubes son was that great...he was just mehh. the actors that portray dre and easy e were really good.
more bloopers pls
the was great hands down
Three euro Saxons saying they loved a movie about black youth ignorance.
Pop culture?!? Never say that again! Hip Hop/Rap culture was established way before this crap called pop, popped up.
If It wasn't for nwa there would not be no Kendrick Lamar or any of them other dude's, they put the west coast on the map
Highly recommend a "review" by a woman Dr. Dre beat up.
"Eazy E's widow"
Ice cube makes the best movies I've ever seen

Good movie!
Dope movie, dope review
I want to go on a date with Christy. I feel like we're uber-compatible. But she's just a little bit older than me.
This is b.s. The second half was great too! you have three main characters that went in different directions in their lives. Stop slandering this movie
Guy playing E just doesn't look like him.
NY OneLove He's Black enough. And the Yella one is yella enough.
the "yells" one is Ice Cube's son.
Chimera1591
No, Genius. There's a guy named YELLA in the group!
Fucking, kids these days...!
Kevan Dalzell
Young & DUMB! LMFAO
guy really looks like ice cube
That's ice cubes son
I'd love to read the demographic research on the box office of this movie! I don't think most of the audience was white!
I hate red band trailers with all my body and soul. They spoil the good stuff. OMFG.
George Lyons Skip the trailer then, and just watch the review. I've only seen little bits of this film, as I've avoided the trailers so I can go in and experience the film without knowing too much. Biopic trailers pretty much spoil some of the film anyway, and that is why I don't watch trailers for biopic films.
Loves it
alonso said almost nothing this entire review. why is it so awkward for people to review a black movie? matt didn't see the movie and reviews it? christy drives this whole thing and it seems like nobody can give an opinion on the movie they just talk about the acting. please review black movies like you do every other movie
b1bbs g0t h4nds Alonzo said he hadn't seen it yet. They all don't always watch everything by the time they shoot these videos.
oh. they should wait then or get people who have watched it
b1bbs g0t h4nds They don't have the time to watch every movie, they already watch a ton, only a portion they talk abou in WTF reviews. And they did already do movies considered "black" before, what is that dude called whose story is always the same?
b1bbs g0t h4nds They have a reviewer Ben. He sees one out of five movies they review. But he will ask questions like someone wondering if it's worth seeing...or play with his smartphone.
ohdogwow2 you mean Mankiewicz? i notice that too, but i like him on the game of thrones reviews.
I know they say that this is not really accurate and they gloss over some facts, but I-d really commend you to read this review from one of the women Dr. Dre beat up. I know it's just a movie and they do were revolutionary at the time, but I hate that important facts are overlooked.

this movie was about the group as whole not small little matters about that. Now if the movie was Called Dre i could see the problem. But if you really think something like that should be added in the movie then you need to have a class on the process of telling a story.
OnmyFlabs Beating up women is a "small little matter". Really?
Kevin alvarez alvarado tbh it is compared to the overall theme of the movie which is police brutality which affects both genders
Don't end sentences with "right?". So annoying.
the cringe is real in this channel
The guy in the middle is so annoying.
epic end lol
You guys are so white.... lol it's adorable
Took the words RIGHT out of my mouth hahaha
daniel mcdermott Esp, when they were trying to describe the movie. LOL it was painfully obvious... SO funny.
201stars YEAH MAN! fuck these white ass people1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey beautiful.
201stars How the fuck are middle aged white people supposed to discuss a biopic about gangsta rap, huh?
