    Putting the hook on the outer belt makes more sense to me because the loop material is a natural wear item and it degrades over time. It's much cheaper to buy a replacement inner belt and less downtime for the end-user. Plus I always wear an undershirt tucked so the hook never comes into contact with my skin.

    • @PA-jw6fo
      @PA-jw6fo ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Also carried the Ronin belt for 10 days straight in the field. Never once had a problem with hook against skin, and if there ever was one can quickly adjust unless you are constantly within 25meters of bad guys. Different strokes I guess.

    About a year ago I ended up jerry-rigging a similar setup for my work duty belt. Standard Bianchi 2.25" duty belt. Got rid of the aweful coplock buckle, threw on a cobra buckle instead. Got rid of the standard inner belt & belt keepers, bought a hypalon belt from snake eater tactical (male side velcro pointing out). Duty belt goes over that. Easy peasy. Bought another hypalon belt with female side velcro pointing out (then turned inside-out) to go over the other one when I take the rig off (because car seat snags male velcro) so no snag. Solid setup. No belt keepers.

    A belt is just a belt. Depending on how you set it up is what defines it. An example of a range belt would generally be a thinner belt with a holster a tourniquet and a few mag pouches where as a battle belt would generally be thicker belt and have additional equipment such as a first aid kit, drop pouch, stuff to serve in a single fight. Then there is the war belt, Its heavy due to the extra equipment such as extra mag pouches, grenades, canteen, multitool. Sometimes shoulder straps are needed to help hold it up or an additional pad under the belt for cushioning this thing is what you take into war to serve you in multiple battles. hope this makes sense.

    Chris your Ronin belt is as good as this one, guess you were looking for a reason to own a second lol. Only thing I don't like about the GBRS belt the opposite velcro attachment. If you wear the belt enough, it's not a matter of if but when the loop wears you are stuck buying another belt system instead of just a inner belt.

  • @dad2022
    @dad2022 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why did GBRS flip the velcro? The same reason they had LBTC cut the Tegris in squares vs circles...because their belt is so closely related to Ferro Concepts (which they rep'd for a while) that they had to do something slightly different to keep from having a trademark lawsuit on their hands. It's not "tactical" reasoning, it's marketing and legal constraints. Cmon man!

      @@Chrisblau I wouldn’t be surprised if tegris becomes standard in belts. I know the ferro concepts uses it, but to my knowledge the GBRS is the only belt using it as the mounting platform. I went from an emissary to a ronin, to a gbrs. All were good belts, but like you I enjoy certain things about each one. I’m not telling anyone how to live their life, but a good old fashion battle belt with elastic suspenders is still probably the most versatile option. Doing helo stuff? Cool, you can put a carabiner anywhere and hook your pig tail into it. Doing a hoist or repel? Cool, use a leg sling and pocket it when you’re done. Battle belts work over rain gear and arctic gear, and the extra movement is great when you’re in and out of vehicles all the time. Web gear/battle belts was the thing back in the day, then combat vests and Ranger racks were the thing, then battle belts again, now it’s two piece belts, and my guess is that before long, we’ll be back to the good old fashion battle belt.

    Hi I'm actually a dog trainer looking for a high quality belt with molle and d-ring. Had a question of the inner belt hook and outer belt loop. As I drive from client to client, I'll be in and out of my car every hour. My concern is the hook sticking to my car seat. I know you said theres a cover but you think in my case perhaps having the loop on the inner would be better? As I can see taking the cover on and off every hour could get pretty annoying. Open to any other suggestions as well. Thanks!

    Very cool gear, SF guys always customise their gear, it makes sense that they make/sell it to us plebs. Also about the price "they could cut corners..." - Never a good idea for any kit that is intended to help keep you alive.

    • @Chrisblau
      @Chrisblau 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wasn't meaning cut corners on the quality. I should've clarified that sorry what i meant is they could probably find ways to save money on the price if they wanted but the product is quality, its made by people with real world experience, and the brand dictates price as well which is why it is priced accordingly.

    The only problem I see with that belt is the soft Loop is what wears out if it's on the outer more expensive thicker belt then you're going to have to replace the outer belt when it wears out instead of the thinner cheaper easier to replace Inner Belt I'm going through that with a blue Alpha Gear 2 belt setup right now their innerbelt has the soft Loop and it's now starting to wear out but I can replace it on their website for $35 if I have to replace the outer it will cost me $160

    The GBRS belt looked cool if they didn’t do the Velcro in the dumbest way possible. It’s not that hard to put your belt on correctly and companies like Lead Devil USA have been making belts with hook velcro that isn’t scratchy. Also similar to the ferro bison, this belt is extremely overpriced.
