I want to give a special shoutout to your friend who has helped assure you have many years of safe traveling in the future. His obvious experience is undoubtedly appreciated my friend. Many blessings always!
TIP- Huub: When I was grinding fiberglass and sanding under my boat I used a Box fan in back of me to continually blow the dust and small fibers in the air away from me. It worked GREAT! kept me breathing clean air!!
You are so fortunate to have such a talented "helper", to guide and mentor you with your fiberglass journey! Can't wait to see you and Daniella put that boat back in the water, where it belongs!
Hey Hubb, make sure you keep that mask on ! And keep a good one on at that. You are young now, but in twenty years you may see and feel the effects of breathing in the fiber and resin dust. Stay safe ! Just think of your lungs as vacuum cleaner because that is exactly as they act.
As usual you did not disappoint. You are gaining years of experience in a few weeks of time. Looking good keep up the positive attitude and things happen in a positive way.
You're so very lucky to have a friend with such extensive experience in glassing. It's quite obvious he has done a lot of fiberglass layup and has a professional understanding of glass structure and resin management. Completely wetting out roving and hanging it on the bottom takes a skilled hand -- with the number of layers of roving on the outside of the keel alone, it will be built like a tank. I don't envy you having to work in the heat with the fast curing times. Well done.
Huub, great meeting you in Annapolis. Having done some fiberglass work in my life, what I'm seeing here is really good work. I think the work will serve you well on the water. Take your time and get it right. Thank you so much for documenting what you're doing. Someone else in the future will be able to see this and do good work themselves. Be good friend, and hope to see you on the water at some point.
Great work, Hubb & to your invaluable friend! PLEASE provide an update on/with Daniella as a segment of an upcoming video or one as its own about her or perhaps on her impressions of the work in progress. Thanks!
Hey Huub!!! Really impressed with the progress that you have been making. You're really a lucky guy to have a friend that would drop everything and fly down to help you like this, I hope that you are feeding him well when you aren't on camera!! you've also been doing a really great job with the editing over the last couple episodes, glad to see that you haven't forgotten how to do that -- I know Danni had taken much of that off of your plate for a while. Speaking of which, how about an update about how she is doing? Keep up the great work -- slow and steady wins the race!!!
Hello my friend, I have always enjoyed taking on big projects and have really been inspired watching you guys invest your life into yours. Stay positive, you deserve the reward when its complete 👍.
This boat is really coming together you guys are doing a fantastic job this is great knowledge for you to be able to put in your mental toolbox for the future. It looks like it is going to be a strong patch and bring your boat life adventure many nautical miles. Keep up the great work You two. I enjoyed this video and seeing it taking more shape getting closer to the launch date. priceless knowledge when living the boat life you never know when you might be able to help someone who needs that skill set. Looking forward to next week's update already.
Impressed with the way he got all that glass on, I've done glassing work and the pressure is on to get it down and done before it kicks. He's a better man than me, there's no way I would've wanted to do that many layers in one go, in hot weather and especially on that position of a boat, it's very good work
You're doing it man! I'm so happy for you. When I saw that keel for the first time, I thought maybe you had bitten off far more than you could chew. It's going to be better than new.
Nice repair your friend obviously knows his stuff I think that will be stronger than the original all the feathering in and bias layer’s really make a strong composite in my experience.
That looks like a really good strong repair. It should be a fair bit stronger than the original when you finish. I have a bit of fiberglass work to do on my boat so this is really useful for me thnx.
Where did you find an expert to help you for free. (or is he charging you) Anyway very glad he is there so the boat can accurately be completed fully and safely. I admit I thought this was going to take five years and still not be completed. Now it looks like this will be done by spring. You need to thank him big time.
Amazing, professional technique.I’m looking to see where the weak points are likely to be . Where the new joins the old I assume. What’s your thought’s?
It only takes a few bad apples 🍎 🍏 to spoil the barrel. My saying of the week. lol what it’s worth. lol 😂 You’re doing great, I’m enjoying your videos👍 very much.
Fasinating... so much respect for you both... Where are you both staying while this is happening as im pretty sure you mentioned not being on the boat?
WEST System epoxy is a very fast curing epoxy. Even the slowest cat. is very fast, if you want a slower epoxy. Look into pro-set resin 225-235 and 229 cat. . A better grinder to use is the masonry grinding wheel for 4" grinder. They grind just as fast as 36 grit, they dont wear out and they leave a much rougher surface better for bonding. Not so good in tight rounds and very un even surfaces, great for everything grinding other wise.
You are extermly lucky to have friend like him. He is pure porofesional what he is doing. By the way, any news from Daniela, we wonder how she is doing?
When you are preparing the resin for your fiberglass you mention measuring volume but then I see you measuring weight. Is it necessary to do both? The two of you get so dirty working on your boat. Each day when you are finished sanding or scraping or fiberglassing do you go somewhere to take a real shower or to the harbor for a swim or just take a hose and wash off in cold water? I really enjoy seeing the fiberglass technique, thanks for sharing.
As promised-better than out of the factory! You guys put soo much glass on it, the rest of the boat will sink and perish, but the keel will survive 😂 Need some counter weight on the other side? Consider a dishwasher or a washer/dryer combo? Happy wife is happy life🎉!
Excellent video! -- QUESTION -- I remember you had a video comparing the Alberg 30 to the Alberg 37 and you were not sure which to buy.. I wante dto watch that again but I can't find that video... Is there a link please!

It looks like it will be as strong or probably even stronger than original.

Hoi Huub wat zijn jullie lekker bezig met de kiel gaan zo door man groetjes en succes
I'm surprised you didn't use a power sander for the 60 grit or at least a foam sanding block which would have made that process easier and faster.
Stellar!!!!
Hij gaat lekker zo mannen 👌
ziet er goed uit mannen

Yes diamond masonry cup is great to grind back fibreglass. 😊

The homie grinding without any eye protection is a menace 😂
your vids are 👌👍👍👍great job👍👍👍👍
It is a production boat , 1mm is perfect . Good freind you have there I expect you will repay him with a cruise to a beach in paradise .
Great work!! ... Do not try to be 'fancy' when filming .. always use a mask when sanding!!

I've never seen anyone stick on 3 layers of fiberglass before and now that I have I'm wondering why? It should work and would be faster than one at a time.
Working on a cat - it's everything x4 or x2 because of the two hulls !
Weer een stap dichterbij de tewaterlating👍⚓😊
Jaaa !
Love the progress but only 17 minutes leaves me incredibly thirsty !
What is the brand of this catamaran?
I really worried about that keel, wondering how you would tackle a job like that. And along came the genie with all the right skills, and tadah, a keel! Nah, a whole hull...
Hola Huub, tienes un amigo de oro.
Life by the inch is a cinch , by the yard it’ll be Hard and by the Mile will Take a While!😅
