I closed the window, pulled the curtain down, turned on the cold air conditioner, and opened this video. The rain made me remember my childhood days, when it rained all day, my sister and I were in our old house, studying or playing, waiting for my parents to return after a day of work; then we had dinner together, watched TV, and then went to sleep. There was no internet, no facebook, no smartphone ... just the sound of rain like that, with trees, with insects, slightly chilly weather and feeling of peace.
On day only me in house turn everything off just to experience stillness (live in sticks closest neighbor 1 mile a way)
My little brother and I would get our pillows and blankets and lay by the front screen door and listen to the rain and thunder and watch the rain till we fell asleep. I’m 74 and he is 69. What great memories we have. I wish we had no internet, cell phones, and no Facebook. We had much more fun, back then.🥰

I grew up in Maine. The winters were absolutely brutal, but I have to say there was nothing cozier than hearing a blizzard outside while the wood-stove was crackling. Then mom would make us hot chocolate and a coffee for dad. Miss those days.
Im from Slovenia, Central Europe. But wood- stove is still present at my mothers house. No Hot chocolate,but we had Hot Cacaoo

Yes that old wood stove last night hit low of -9 farenheight old stove on back porch had to be fed every 3 hours thru night
Threatening to put a old recliner on back porch ( warmest room but cold spells it takes time to keep temp up isnt the easiest to do but is much less costly)

When I was around 14 years old I would take me pillow and blanket and take a nap in my parents back car seat.
We did not have a garage and this is what I loved to do and take a nap

I love the sound of rain, personally I love it when I’m at my camp-cabin-cottage, it’s called all kinds different names, but I love the sound on a metal roof. Especially in morning when I get to sleep in.

Rain sounds from inside a car has gotta my favourite type of recording technique. It has a lot of atmosphere and sounds more balanced than a tin roof - you did very well with this ambient recording!

I adore the lower pitch of this storm. Some heavy thunderstorms have such a high pitch to the rainfall that it can be a little irritating, but this grumbly storm is easy on the ears. This rustic-style window is pretty darn cool, too.
