I respool in the winter when I strip them and clean them. After that when I get a really bad backlash or my spool is low. My most frequently used reels i clean again in the summer.

    Agree with this 100%
One tip that will help prolong flurocarbon life . . . . get a line winder, or another reel, and spool-off the flurocarbon onto another spool / reel pulling it through a small piece of cloth soaked in KVD line & lure conditioner. Once you've come to the end, go back to the original reel and re-spool the line back on pulling it through that soaked cloth again. This cleans the line of hard minerals, dirt, etc. . . . it also adds a nice slick coating which reduces the lines memory , and the next time you use the reel, that line will be WAAAAY more manageable.
Yes it takes a couple minutes, but after a few times you can do it quickly.
This has extended the life of my flurocarbon at LEAST 3 times what I was getting out of it before, without losing any strength.
With the price of flurocarbon these days, not only will this save you money, but your line will be WAAAAY more manageable with a lot less coils.

Randy!! Whenever using braid and it starts to fade change it out before you break off an expensive lure! Seagar Tactix is great for maybe a month of daily usage but will let you down if not changed often.

Change from Flurocarbon to a quality copolymer to eliminate a lot of problems

I've used bow sting wax to refresh my braid. I feel like works. I don't have the results from a scientific test. I feel like it works though.
