    There are many reviews of this model, but almost no videos on how to set it up, except the Citizen's own video which some people might have trouble following, so I decided to do a video of the initial setup of the watch, and tried to explain everything as simple as I could, with examples.
    I hope you enjoy, and I hope it helps someone!

    I followed everything and my watch still will not show the correct day of the week. Its actually not on any day at all.. Any help? Thank you.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      +Mr Mac it means your battery is low.
      When the battery drops below a certain level it will stop showing day of week and show the battery level all the time.
      Place your watch on a window sill facing outside for a couple of days and it should be OK

      Watch Geek, it also worked for me. I had just purchased one and I thought it was broken. Sent an email to Citzen and they asked me to mail it to them. Instead, I watched your video and as soon as it charged it worked. Thanks for this great video!

      Watch Geek knows far(far) more than me--- but one other thing that worked for me was pulling the crown out. Had an ecodrive that wouldn't take a charge after too long in the dark (long sad story). I pulled the crown and left it in the window sill for a full day. Now it works great.

    This is the best video on how to set up this model. I do have the women’s version of this caliber h820. These are wonderful watches, I have bought mine in 2021 and I love it! It takes some time to master on how to set it up , but thanks to this video learning is a piece of cake! Thank you 🙏

    This has to be one of the best, most succinct and understandable instructional videos that I have seen in a very long time, clearly describing in simple terms and with quality video/commentary, a quite complicated sequence of actions required to set up this excellent watch.

    Please let me thank you for the FANTASTIC AND RARE VIDEO you have posted. Your video is entirely accurate and effective on every level. It has helped me immensely. I actually bought the watch discounted from a supplier who thought it was broken yet upon following your instructions I managed to obtain this fantastic watch at a discounted price...although it was the Women's model. Subsequently, I bought the Mens model for the normal price and because of you I am able to set it as well and use it perfectly. THANK YOU. My Fiancé and I are in the process of setting her Citizen Atomic in conjunction with mine for dual time...she in London and me in L.A. Thank you thank you thank you. I am indebted to you.

      I hope your watch serves you for many years!
      A couple of my friends got their solar atomic watches almost for free, because the store got tired of people returning them as broken, since nobody knew how to correct the hands.
      They bought the watches, I set them up, and it's been on their wrists for almost 5 years now, so it DOES happen.
      That's one of the reasons I do these videos, so people can learn just how awesome these watches are when you know how to operate them 😜

    I have one of these awesome watches and I really love it, so much in fact that I also gave my mom one of the ladies versions for christmas last year. I have never had any issues with the settings my self. But I will say that your video about it's various functions is just spot on. it is one of the best quartz movements made today in my opinion, and I haven't covered everything about it, the one thing I didn't mention is the manual vs automatic DST setting, but I figured if you get to that point you will be able to find it in the manual

    great help indeed thank you. I bought mine last 2016 of May. I had a problem with low battery, it wouldn't show the day indicator, instead, it showed the low level of battery ( my bad ) when every time i keep my watch, it's always inside a vault which is totally dark for a long period of days/weeks, so it was impossible to adjust the day hand. i charged it for like one day in a bright lamp stand 6 inches away then i adjusted the day hand:)

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +DANCE For Life Zamora Brothers you should avoid keeping the watch in complete darkness as it will decrease the battery life dramatically and you will need to replace it way before it's expected life as repeated complete discharge hurts the battery a lot.
      When you don't wear the watch try to store it out of the box in a room with normal ambient light

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Victor Hayes don't store it in a drawer as that is the only thing that can kill these watches, if storing for a long period of time leave them in a lit room (normal daylight) because storing them in the dark for a long time damages and greatly reduces the battery life, if kept in normal lighting conditions you can expect 20+ years on a single battery, and YES it is a great watch :)

I mean will it set day, month, date, etc by itself just by receiving the radio signal, or I need to set all that manually before it gets the signal?

I placed it on the window for 5 days and had a problem getting the time set. I wanted to see if you can assist me.

    I just lost mine 2 weeks ago after 4 years of wearing it almost every day. And thinking to get another one because I love the design and functionality. Do you all think I should get it since this is a 10-year-old release or maybe there's an alternative newest model similar to this design (perpetual calendar, simple yet bold, day date, no Crono, no complicated/busy design and no automatic)

    This my second comment after 3 years.
    For some reason my watch fell out of the correct time zone but because this is one of my bookmarked vids the problem was solved straightaway.
    Thanks again.

    Great video man, I appreciate it. I bought this watch yesterday and was trying to adjust it. However, my time is around 30 seconds off. Will the radio sync fix this problem? Also, it is hard to get the radio sync signal. I faced it toward the window last night, hoping it will do a radio sync at 2am or 3am but it failed (displayed no on the bottom of the watch). Any help on how to do a manual radio sync?

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should probably do the hand alignment, as for the signal, it is always very hard to do it over the day, you should allow the watch to do it automatically overnight.
      To boost the signal, try the method from this video, is seems to work for most people:

    I bought this piece a few months ago and thank you sooooo much again for this vid because I set it up in 5 minutes! I do have a question though. If I manually put it in power save mode will it still take a charge or will it only charge while the second hand is still running? Thanks again for this vid and happy holidays to you!

    Hello there. This was an extremely well done video, and very useful. Thanks so much for your efforts here. This is my second Citizen Radio Controlled watch. The first was discontinued (CB00200-50E0). It is still working but needs a new band. Two questions for the Watch Geek:
    1) Can you suggest another band whose fitment is the same as that of the CB00200-50E0? I'd like to gift it someone.
    2) Although this new watch has successfully synched to the Atomic Clock in Denver (I'm in San Diego, CA, US), hitting the lower right button never displays OK, but rather NO. I'm confused by this. I have made sure it has full charge, that the hands were zeroed-out, and that all steps were taken to assure proper signal reception.

  • @EfektMasy
    @EfektMasy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How often does the watch receive information from the atomic clock? If I land by plane in a different time zone, will the watch automatically move in a few minutes or do I have to wait a few hours until it catches the signal?

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +EfektMasy it receives information I'm the night only, once. It tries a couple of times until one is successful, and NO it will not know you changed the time zone, you have to tell it you changed the time zone

  • @EuroRSN

      +D 4123 most likely, try leaving it at the window sill facing outside for at least 4-7 days without touching it and it may come back to life.
      Even if it starts working after a day or 2 DONT touch it as setting everything up spends a lot of battery so leave it at least 4-7

    @smitty03281964 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You made a very informative video. My question is that my watch had not been charged in a very long time. The time and date is not correct. Since it was completely dead do you think that would affect its ability to connect to the atomic clock. It is fully charged now but it will not adjust the time and date. Any attempts to get the signal always fail. Prior to that it would sync with the atomic clock. Do you think it may need a zero position performed, and do you think that will help it sync with the atomic clock. By the way I have the Navihawk and Promaster (GPS) and the Navihawk has no problem syncing with the atomic clock.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +smitty03281964 once the watch resets after a power outage the hands and date will be misaligned so you have to first do the hand alignment and then select your time zone, as reception frequency is adjusted according to your time zone.

    • @smitty03281964
      @smitty03281964 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for responding but the primary city is still set where it was before it was completely discharged. But I will do the hand alignment then see what happens and I will post the results.

    • @smitty03281964
      @smitty03281964 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I must have tried about 25 times since I last posted to get the watch to sync with the atomic clock, and no luck. I watched your video again and then decided to double check my primary city. There it was not properly set and I am not even sure how that happened. So I properly set it, and went upstairs and sat it in the window at 1:45am. At 1:57am it beeped and I walked over to it and was happy to see that it sync with the atomic clock. The date and time corrected itself. The date was off by 5 days, and the time was off 7 hours, 23 minutes. Frustration gone, and again much much thanks. Obviously I subscribed.

    Is there a setting for a time zone that is 30mins ahead(behind) the next one?
    Eg; Newfoundland time in Canada is 30mins ahead of Atlantic time.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark Lade I don't think so, you can set it up manually or if you want to use the radio signal you have to "cheat" the watch by moving the reference position of the minute hand by 30 minutes
