I've had a real mental block around using any scripts which involve sampling, something nebulous about how that kind of thing is only for proper musicians who can play in time. Well glad to say you've simply demolished that assumption with your atonal toy sounds. It created such an interesting atmosphere and demonstrated to me that I should approach sample based scripts with greater freedom and creativity.
I love this script too. As other people have said, thanks for doing these. I love Norns but some of the scripts are a little hard to get my head around. Subbed. (Also, I know you’re not taking requests, but one for Reels would be very welcome!)
Love this series. I was curious how you are recording the sound into the input of the norns? Are you using something like a field recorder directly into the input line? And is it possible to plug something like a tape recorder or other device like an elektron digitak directly into the norns? I have heard that this is not something you can do with a modular synth since the line is too hot. But very much enjoying this series.
Sometimes I use a field recorder, or I'll take a line out from my audio interface into the input. You can definitely plug a tape recorder or digitakt directly into norns. They are all line level, the only danger is if you were going to go directly out from a eurorack module.
Hey Peter. I am testing a Norns Shield at the moment. How do you set up the routing within Ableton? I tried with the External Audio Effect but I can’t hear the audio from the Shield in Ableton. My headphones are plugged into my external sound interface (RME fireface400).
I don't think you need to use the external audio effect. You should be able to go out of Norns' stereo output into your interface directly. I think a 1/8in stereo to dual 1/4in mono cable should do the trick. Lmk if that doesn't fix your problem.
@@peterbarkmusic Thanks. I am still having trouble with the routing settings in ableton, especially the audio channels (external / internal channel settings, monitor auto / off / in).
Ah this was a wonderful video! Such limited content out there for norns scripts, thank you for putting this one together!
I was thinking the same thing! That's kind of what gave me the push to start doing these Norns related tutorials.
@@peterbarkmusic Seriously can't wait for the next one!
Incredible Audio output Thank you...Please Carry on - You got a New fan from the UK 1984 land...

Great channel, very useful to explore scripts. Félicitations.
Awesome!
Do more of those. Really looking forward to it!!! You have a new subcriber here😌
Great tutorial thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
big thank you

Thank you! I actually am taking requests, I'll add Reels to the list.

You should record some whispering ASMR video into Barcode (or Compass) amazing results! Thx for the video
