Man, I watched a few videos on doing this job, but I put you on play and followed you through every step. I have to compliment you on your instruction, your a pro ,thanks for posting this, I priced the part at the dealer it was $185 + labor, I purchased the part on line $85, thanks again you saved me money and time.
Thanks for demonstrating how to disassemble the door for access to replace the LF door latch assembly. This video was very helpful to me a 40 plus year auto technician. :) Thanks again for the tech help !
This was a great step by step process. Thanks for posting this up! Hopefully the front door will become easier then the rear one because it was a PITA. The rear door isn't as large as the front one and had very little room to get your fingers in there. Too many clips and retainers kept popping off when trying to install the rear one.
Haha. I just did it myself after buying a $20 door actuator from Amazon. It wasn't all that bad. 😊 Assuming you have the necessary tools and a little bit of manual dexterity. I would hate to see what a dealer would charge for this.
Great vid, detail where you needed it, FF when you didn’t. And the few times where you said “well now you know how to replace XX” was great. And my favorite was your closing “ok, bye”
VERY helpful! 10th or more video before seeing what I needed to replace that back piece the exterior door handle attached to. TY very much for the video!
GREAT step by step!!! No annoying commentary, just right to the point. The way God intended! 🪨 auto has this part at different prices, depending on which door. I lucked out and had the cheapest door's actuator to replace, front passenger! Haha! Front driver is nearly twice the price! 🙄 Weird. Thanks! **Update** Just today my stupid lock jammed shut (locked) for no apparent reason! Now I can't even open my front passenger door! Going to have to see if I can't remove the door panel without being able to open the door and hopefully unjam the lock. 🤞 **Update#2** Turns out my after-market actuator only lasted about 2 months. Now it jams locked and jams open every other click. Have to manually force open the lock button next to the handle with a LOT of pressure while simultaneously pressing the electric button for it to open most of the time. Feels like I'm going to break something just to open the door. Ended up ordering a genuine Hyundai part for twice the price. About to re-replace it now. 🙄
Great video thank you for explaining everything step by step; I followed your instructions and I was able to replace the actuator just as you described it.
Hugely useful even for a 2006 Sonata. Had done 2 replacements already over the years, but the driver's door is different, so did a video refresher when your video appeared and blew my mind with your approach of leaving the actuator attached to the door panel on removal and reinstallation. Wonder if that would have worked with the non-driver doors? Probably! This job got done fast with that tip, thank you!
tbh 150 isn't a lot for that amount of stuff they are doing to get to the replacement. Sure, this is a job you can do in your garage, but you're paying $150 to save yourself a couple hours.
Same model car I have. No issues with the locks (yet 🤞), just curious to see what it entails in case I ever have to go through it. So much dang plastic everywhere! Nice video! Just replaced a cv axle on it today. Pretty straight forward.
My passenger door lock started messing up recently. Doesn’t unlock when car is in park so I was dreading going through this process because I don’t have money to waste at a shop. I’ll have to do this on my day off. First, I’m going to order the part. Lol
Excellent video, let me ask you something. I understand that the problem this Sonata had was in the power lock, but did the door open from the interior Chrome handle or not. I am very confused and I don't know what to change. I'll explain right away. 2013 sonata 2.0 Turbo, my passanjer door was working fine until me and my nephew get into a miss understanding and the door lock suffered a brain fart. He was opening from the out side while I was unlocking from the main switch and the famous, now, not now, not yet, it's lock still? and that happened. Now the door is like always locked, the small chrome piece to unlock like in your video is not responding nor the handle from outside, ONLY the handle from inside open the door. Any idea which of all these parts when wrong, could be the same as yours, if your car was not opening from outside. IDEAS PLEASE, THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS VIDEO IS THE WAY VIDEOS SHOULD BE MAKE, THANKS AGAIN
Great video, I have the manual but the pictures are terrible and very difficult to tell what they refer to or where anything is. I've already replaced both rear locks, which are much more difficult because of the window guide, now my from right door is doing the same thing.
How long did it take to do all that from start to finish? I know you sped up a few things to keep the video short. Trying to gauge how long it would take a Hyundai tech to get it done since I'm wary of digging that far into my own door (and removing the window glass)
our 2011 sonata driver's side door lock is grinding. read that it's time to replace the actuator, does the replacement require removing everything in your video just to swap out the actuator? :( THANK YOU BY THE WAY FOR THE GREAT VID!
@@daniellesmith2101 i would probably roll down the window, take out some weatherstripping or something, and look down in the door to see what's going on.
My front passenger won't unlock with the remote clicker for the passenger to get in. All the other doors open fine. But when I put the transmission into drive the passenger lock closes fine. Frustrating because I brought it to the dealer while my warranty was still and said only the driver side opens not realizing only the passenger side was faulty. The rep opened the rear door and said its fine see? So now I have to fix it on my dime. Argh. Any idea what I need to buy? Also, after I picked up the car for a clock spring repair on the steering wheel my gas mileage reads 13 mpg. It was 20 mpg before the repair. I brought it in earlier in the year when if dropped from 24 mpg to about 16 mpg. They did a fuel service, I changed the spark plugs, air filter and it was only marginally better. The dealer tried to blow it off as driving style. But I drive this car pretty conservatively. Should I try a fuel injection cleaner?
You should do the actual math every time you fill up. You should also consider buying cheap gas. It is getting really expensive, and gas stations might be cheating for profit. In the 70's, and 80's people used to water it down.
2013 hyundai sonata rear door actuator went bad unlock and lock but does not open from inside or outside, I’ve tried pulling and pushing on the cable inside the car within the handle but no luck. Starting to think the child safety is engaged.
I have the same problem with my grandmother's Sonata. You're going to have to force it open. From the inside just pull as hard as you can on the door lock (not the handle).
She just got the recalled engine replaced, because it was locked up. it was 10k miles over the recall. Is there a time, mileage limit for the actuator recall?
Just got me a 2011 sonata but I’m not sure what’s going on with my passenger door. Noticed the door interior light came on when I took an exit on my left.. it also unlocked.. pushed the door from the inside the next day and the light came on but she didn’t unlock… so I’m not sure if it’s an electrical or mechanical problem. Anybody have a clue?
It's not the switch, the switch opens and closes its the door handle inside and outside that doesnt work. Should I get an actuater or is it the door handle

My issue is the opposite side, copilot lock, it barely moves when locking or unlocking. Do I have to replace it?
Probably. Hard to say for sure.
My has the same problem but I’m afraid I’m gonna mess some part up instead of fixing de broken since there are a lot procedures to take
Good video besides when you put the actuator back together you fast forwarded the step to reconnect everything.
Trying to figure out how to speed past the unimportant things. Don't wanna waste anyone's precious time ya know. Reverse procedure.
Do I have to remove the window and door lock to swap out the actuator?
