Okay, Last recommendation for Indonesian Action Movie for now is "Night Comes For Us" (Netflix movie). Joe Taslim (Sergeant Jaka in The Raid), Iko Uwais (Rama, The Raid MC), Julie Estelle (Hammer Girl), Zack Lee (Bemi, The Guy in prison who wanted to kill Uco, then being killed by Uco 2 years later) and many famous Indonesian actors/actresses in that movie. And more "Gore" 😅
The choreography in "The Night Comes For Us" has a more vicious, down and dirty quality that makes the fights hard for anyone with a weak stomach to watch but makes them incredibly intense.
I love you guys notice those “claw” , its a traditional weapon from west sumatra, indonesia called karambit and it’s inspired by tiger claw. The actual purpose of this knife is to cut coconuts leaf branches but nowadays so many countries use this knife for self defense & military and of course they made the design more modern.
More story and drama, and only a few fights, but I'd like for you to watch the 2010 Korean movie "The Man From Nowhere." The director chose to have the main character use Filipino martial arts rather than something like taekwondo or hapkido because he wanted a fighting style that looked lethally efficient rather than flashy. Besides the action, I think Emily would enjoy the tug-at-your-heart acting from 10 year old Kim Sae-Ron (another excellent Korean kid actor).
"The Night Comes For Us" is something you shouldn't missed after The Raid's. Some people say this movie is like the 3rd part of The Raid, but the raider in this movie is only one person😅
Back in the 1970s, I had an interesting book on silat that talked about the history and showed some techniques from several very different styles. One technique that I still remember involved grabbing an opponent's arm, dropping onto you back using your weight to pull him off balance downward and forward, and driving your foot into his armpit to either throw him or dislocate his shoulder. It stuck in my mind because it sort of reminded me of the tomoenage throw I learned in judo. Unfortunately, I don't have that book anymore, and I think it's out of print.
@@dietrichhrabak5160 Thanks for jogging my memory. It's "Pentjak-Silat: The Indonesian Fighting Art" by Howard Alexander, Quintin Chambers, and Donn Draeger, published by Kodansha International.
I speculate that the book you got came from one of the pencak silat hermitages, not from an official printing press... and each hermitage usually has its own unique movement characteristics... My father used to also have a quite "dark" pencak silat book from his hermitage entitled "12 points of human death and effective ways to paralyze them"...
an amazing movie that is almost exhausting to watch (especially that Karambit fight), every time the action settles down and you think you're going to get a break it not only starts again but ramps up as well. i highly recommend The Night Comes For Us which is another, it's an even more visceral and action packed movie starring Iko Uwais & Joe Talsim.
FUN FACT: Yuda's undercover name "Rama" was the name of Iko and Gareth Evan's debut movie "Merantau Warrior". Merantau is basically a fake Ong Bak, the choreography is not as sophisticated as Ong Bak or any of their other movies, but it is decent and features a few guys that are in their other Indo Martial Arts movies. Worth checking out if you are interested in their humble beginnings.
Yeah I would say that I own merantau on Blu-ray. The choreography is not there like it is in the raid movies cus it was iko and Evans first go around although the elevator fight scene is ridiculous. But the subject matter is more darker.
Several points: EXCELLENT REACTION!!! Those knives are called karambits. A BIG thank you for not blurring out the violent parts like so many TH-camrs are currently doing.
Great reaction to one of the greatest martial arts films. I think one aspect of the movie that simply doesn't get enough kudos is the acting. Arifin Putra as the hotheaded son is legitimately great, and of course Iko Uwais hits just the right note as the hero doing everything he can to do the right thing while protecting his family.
You should look up the behind the scenes footage of the car fight. You don't necessarily realise just how insane the camera work for it is until you see the camera being passed between different people inside and outside of the car, as the car is traveling at a decent speed.
One of the tricks of the martial arts stunt performers and choreographers, is that the performers can move in really fast, flexible and inventive ways better, if they're performing to a rhythm. Everyone is performing a punch, kick, parry, block, dodge etc to the same beat. It's like a really fast dance. Movies like this, take it a considerable step up, by having the timing all over the place. There's plenty of little fast staccato moves, and plenty of little delays before striking, to throw out the timing. It's the kinda thing you'd need to do in a real fight, to give you an edge.
I don't know what specific Silat style he uses, there are so nany, but I remember he uses his own family style, headed by his grandfather. The only other martial actor I know at that level is Mark Dacascos, whose father is the creator of Wun Hop Kuen Do. Great video, I had a great time watching Emily cringe 😸
It's 2024 and we're wondering why none of big Holywood blockbuster can get close to the Raid 2 car chase (fight) scene,,, they're truly & simply passing on the camera between cars and it was cinematically pleasing.
The word "ca" in Pencak Silat is read the same as "Cha" in the word Charlie. So, Pencak Silat will sound like "Pen-chak See-lot" in English. The curved fang-like knife, called "Karambit", comes from a weapon belonging to the Minang ethnic group in Sumatra.
Yeah but we're never going to get it. Sad, but I think it's a good thing because Evans did an interview a few years ago and said that it would have made a lot of people mad because for the fact that it wasn't going to be focusing on Iko's character, it would have been more focused on the gang.
Aktor iko uwais (rama),cecep ( assasin),yayan( mad dog/assasin) mereka semua adalah ahli /master pencaksilat real deal. Bukan baru berlatih untuk film tetapi memang mereka terlatih beladiri silat sejak kecil sebelum terjun ke film.
there is movie called headshot starring iko uwais and there is night comes for us staring both iko and joe taslim.. but the ultimate OG fans of iko whould knew that he started in a movie called merantau..
This movie took the inspiration of old Jackie Chan choreography and made it brutal, which I loved. Also if you like this style of action I would recommend the Vengeance Series, the Man from Nowhere, and I Saw the Devil.
So, I love this film, but I still prefer the original. The story and characters are obviously stronger here, but I think the action is a case of quantity over quality here (except for the kitchen fight) so the film ends up being unnecessarily long.
They weren’t fighting pencak Silat. Thats his style but this is basically just fighting. Very Bruce Lee like. No style. Just skill. Very similar to pencak but this isn’t as disciplined. The best style is no style
Guys Would you like to watch k drama? I have a recommendation for the title Goblin or Guardian: The Great and Lonely God. Very good drama I hope you watch it. Like your reaction❤
I like the film but the throat cutting scene is something I really hate, especially when you bear in mind the time it was made and what was going on in the world back then.
hai thanks for reaction film from my country indonesia I just want give you more amazing action movie from indonesia - The Night comes From Us ( Iko Uwais Become Villain ) - Headshot (starring Iko Uwais Too)
This has some of THE most brutally violent fight scenes of ALL time! I love every single moment of this action masterwork.
What about "The Night Comes For Us" ??
I'm so glad you guys watched this, far too many reactors watch the first one and ignore this one.
Rama vs the Assassin is straight up the best fight scene in cinema.
At the end the Yakuza asked Rama: "Raid 3?"
That's why Rama replied: "No, enough."
The kitchen fight scene is the best fight scene ever put on film. Period.
Okay, Last recommendation for Indonesian Action Movie for now is "Night Comes For Us" (Netflix movie). The car chase scenes in this film have better action than the entire Fast and Furious Franchise combined.
The Night Comes For Us next please. Alot of the same actors and probably even more brutal
The choreography in "The Night Comes For Us" has a more vicious, down and dirty quality that makes the fights hard for anyone with a weak stomach to watch but makes them incredibly intense.
Agreed. They should definitely follow up with The Night Comes For Us after this.
Up
Kill Zone 2 and Ong Bak 2 are worth it
I came here to comment this. They HAVE to watch that next. It's so damn good.
I love you guys notice those “claw” , its a traditional weapon from west sumatra, indonesia called karambit and it’s inspired by tiger claw. that Filipino martial art also the same root as SILAT
"The Night Comes For Us" is something you shouldn't missed after The Raid's.
Some people say this movie is like the 3rd part of The Raid, but the raider in this movie is only one person😅
The Raid's choreography deserves an Oscar
It's just so nice how different it is from the first movie - and it's so creative. So many different setpieces, never gets boring.
It's 2024
And The Raid 1 and 2 still come up on the screen.
Masterpieces and Epic

Don Draeger authored that book, forgotten the title though..

The most brutal movie ever filmed! I was lucky enough to see in theaters and it blew me away. So glad you got to experience it!
nah man, there's another more brutal action movie called "The Night Comes For Us".
The cast is also the same.
But the protagonist is different.
The kitty in the back looking soooo cozy and cute❤...you have to watch THE NIGHT COMES FOR US next)!
FUN FACT: Yuda's undercover name "Rama" was the name of Iko and Gareth Evan's debut movie "Merantau Warrior". 10/10 for both Raids from me. Both being blisteringly brilliant! I'd also suggest The Night Comes For Us
I thought the first raid movie was one of the best action movies I ever saw, and probably would never be beaten. Then I saw this movie.👍
Several points: EXCELLENT REACTION!!! Those knives are called karambits. A BIG thank you for not blurring out the violent parts like so many TH-camrs are currently doing.
The Yakuza : wow you solos them? sugoii, do you want to join us? big money!
Rama : aw hell naw im outta here
Great reaction to one of the greatest martial arts films. I think one aspect of the movie that simply doesn't get enough kudos is the acting. the way she said "Da fuck you doing?" @ 15:38 LMMFAO!!!!!! 💀
The knives are called Karambits. Also called tiger claws for obvious reasons!!
After watching the raid 1 and 2, every Hollywood action movie looks very slow lol
Rama: I'm done. That's why there'll be no "The Raid 3" ever 😭
That Ballroom Blitz reference was so unexpected but so appropriate
I don't know what specific Silat style he uses, there are so nany, but I remember he uses his own family style, headed by his grandfather. The only other martial actor I know at that level is Mark Dacascos, whose father is the creator of Wun Hop Kuen Do. Great video, I had a great time watching Emily cringe 😸
"A gaggle of bodies!" 😂
thank god you're including all the important scene in this vid..some people don't even know how to cut
the kitchen scene, that not a fight. but a dancing to the death.
Emily, the curved knives in this movie are the Indonesian Kerambit. They're one of the major weapons in the Pencak Silat fighting style.
And today, iko uwais and Scott Adkins in Instagram story the next the raid 3, maybe 😂
Best car chase scene in cinema, imho. Check out the behind the scenes featurette on it!
It's 2024 and we're wondering why none of big Holywood blockbuster can get close to the Raid 2 car chase (fight) scene,,, they're truly & simply passing on the camera between cars and it was cinematically pleasing.

We want a part 3 for the Greatest action movie of all time!! dammit, You, Director!

Oh my God I love her she is so endearing she’s actually funny.
Aktor iko uwais (rama),cecep ( assasin),yayan( mad dog/assasin) mereka semua adalah ahli /master pencaksilat real deal. Bukan baru berlatih untuk film tetapi memang mereka terlatih beladiri silat sejak kecil sebelum terjun ke film.
Evans said he never wanted to film in hallways again. Then he did Safe Haven in VHS 2. Which if you havent seen as an Evans fan you must watch.
YEEESSSS!!! Bless you for reacting my favorites!
there is movie called headshot starring iko uwais and there is night comes for us staring both iko and joe taslim.. but the ultimate OG fans of iko whould knew that he started in a movie called merantau..

This movie took the inspiration of old Jackie Chan choreography and made it brutal, which I loved. Also if you like this style of action I would recommend the Vengeance Series, the Man from Nowhere, and I Saw the Devil.

Never bury them silly. I keep my bodies in solar powered deep freezes tucked away in a trailer near a very very large body of water.
