Great video, Sydney. I’ve seen a wide array of movies in October (some older, some newer), and it was nice to see another Saw movie. Didn’t get a chance to check out the Exorcist yet. When Evil Lurks looks really good.
@@SydneyVolpe I absolutely love the vibe and athmosphere of horror movies, but I'm really bad at handling tension before a jumpscare and I'm quite jumpy as well. This has caused me to watch hour long video essays and reviews of a number of horror movies for years. But if they show a scene with audio I often find myself hiding in the comments. But I'm gonna get over this! I really wanna watch horror, so I'm slowly easing myself into it. I've grown to value your opinion a lot in the past month since I found your channel. Thanks for the kind words!
I have good memories from two years ago watching Dune Part 1 in IMAX and all the October vibes of the season. Still sad that I have to wait several more months for Part 2, but I'm excited to see Killers of the Flower Moon this weekend. Great video as always!

Man, I got over the Dune delay quickly, lol. Less said about Believer and FNAF, the better. Fav non-horror watches of October were The Eras Tour and Killers of the Flower Moon. Horror's Bram Stoker's Dracula and Stoker (special mention to When Evil Lurks as well).
Your videos are always so fun to watch 😊 I went to a few Halloween social gatherings with the family. The kiddos had fun overall. Great month filled with spooky films 😁
I saw the taylor swift eras tour with my niece and her friend, who turns out not swift fans, but still pretty cool experience to hear them singing along was worth the 30$ a ticket
I can agree with you on the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. As a follower of FNaF since 2014, none of the stuff that happened was surprising but at the same time, as a follower since 2014 it’s awesome that they made a movie on it finally. Could’ve definitely been better but for a first time adaptation on Five Nights at Freddy’s, it isn’t all too bad.
I live my life following a very simple tenet: “always take the opinion of someone who wears a BROKEN ARROW t-shirt *very* seriously.” Great vid Syd! and I love the podcast! Here’s to a awesome November! 🍻
Rip Dune Part 2. See ya next year. When Evil Lurks is easily the best film in the bunch! Especially seeing it with you at Fantastic Fest lol. Also, Killers of the Flower Moon is a highlight for sure.

THE ROYAL HOTEL did not do it for me. I like the tension Greene builds in the film, and I liked it that she doesn't make most of the men too evil or violent, because if she did it would have taken away from the suspense of the film which is the films highlight. She also sets up a narrative that the women may be running from something but she never delves into it. Are they running from abusive parents/relationships? A crime they committed in America? I did like this as it kind of felt a little bit like PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN in a way. What I don't like about the film is that I have just never been a fan of Garner in Greene's films. She always comes off as boring. Also, I never really understood why Liv and Hanna are friends. Liv seems to want to have fun and embrace the experience but Hanna just comes off like a wet blanket for the whole movie. I wrote this before I saw your full review, so it is funny that we both mention Hanna being a wet blanket, but you hit the nail when you said that it feels a little too on the nose. I also had a problem with the ending. 3 stars. FAIR PLAY will probably make my list for one of the worst movies of the year. I saw this in a theatre and I was so annoyed and angry watching it. If this movie was played more light-hearted, I think it could have worked. In its actual form, it is long, dull, and overly cliche. The performances are good, but there is just not enough for Ehrenreich and Dyvenor to work with here. As I watched the movie I was hoping they would just do something interesting. Make Ehrenreich's character turn into a radicalized Andrew Tate-like dude bro. Have Dyvenor's character turn into a sex crazed, money hungry, vapid obsessive work bot. Do something out-of-the-box unexpected. I almost walked out of this movie when the r*pe scene happened. Just a totally unpleasant experience. 2 stars. I have a like/hate relationship with Scorsese. I like some of his films (TAXI DRIVER, KING OF COMEDY, GOODFELLAS, WOLF OF WALL STREET) but then there are some that I really don't (THE IRISHMAN, RAGING BULL (yeah, I said it)). I did like KotFM, but I am conflicted about it. It's beautifully shot, it's well-paced, and despite being 3h26m, it always feels engaging throughout. Where I feel the movie falls is it's portrayal of the Osage people. I know Scorsese re-wrote this to focus more on the Osage, but in the end this is still a movie about White people. I think this film would have been more interesting if it Molly was the main character and we were seeing the film through her eyes. I also think the movie could have been cut down. Especially in the middle of the film where it really just felt like people talk about someone who needs to die. They talk about how they are going to kill him. Somebody kills him. Then they argue/talk about how that person was killed. This got really repetitive after a while. People are saying Gladstone deserves an Oscar nomination, but I don't agree mostly because she spends half the movie in bed dying. She just isn't given enough to do. As for DiCaprio and DeNiro, they did fine. An average performance for both of them considering their careers. Still a great movie, but I can understand the critic who said that this is Scorsese's flawed masterpiece. 4 stars.

Saw your earlier review for “The Exorcist” but instead watched it last week and now I realise what a big mistake that was (watching movie). I mean the first half (before devil’s possession) was good,; pace of the script was engaging, backdrop of storyline was engaging, everything was at their almost best, but in second half I don’t know what happened and suddenly it seemed that the director and screenwriter were in a hurry. In last decade, in my opinion, one of the best horror movie was “the women in the black 1, not second). This movie had everything that a horror movie should have, first of all you have to create an atmosphere, second, you have to move it at a proper pace so that audience feels engaged with the story. Again, in my opinion.
royal hotel was uneventful, fnaf sucked, pet sematary was ok, exorcist sucked, and i still need to see totally killer and killers of the flower moon.... but when evil lurks was amazing and is the best horror movie of 2023 hands down
I think When Evil Lurks is the best I've seen this month. Not amazing, but a very very good horror film. It's a simple tale, well told. Ex-Believer has to be the worst. That was a stupid tale told via banging noises and shrieking.

What about the Eras Tour movie?
@@aaronsalazar746 okay the eras tour movie haha
I think When Evil Lurks is the best I've seen this month. Not amazing, but a very very good horror film. It's a simple tale, well told. Ex-Believer has to be the worst. That was a stupid tale told via banging noises and shrieking.
should've been Dune 2 month :(
Rip😔☝🏼
