  • Thinking of JOINING THE ARMY as Infantry? Well today I had the privillage of Interviewing a U.S. ARMY FEMALE INFANTRY SOLDIER! Caitlin May was the 3RD FEMALE NATIONWIDE to enlist as a 11B (INFANTRY)! Today I'm able to pick her brain and hear her story of what motivated her to enlist! She is doing remarkable things to help pave the way for other women who feel limited by gender roles in today's Military! She provides great insight and advice for other women and future soldiers in general who are considering joining the Military as Infantry soldiers! I hope you take the time to hear her out! GREAT STUFF! Thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel! Give the video a thumbs up and subscribe if you haven't already for more!

    As a female I think it’s stupid to change the PT standards especially in a combat mos all that would do is put the team at risk. I honestly don’t care at all if a female wants to be in a combat mos but they should be put to the same standard as a male, those standard exist for a reason and shouldn’t be lessened for anyone. If your going to do it do it right or not at all.

      @@beyondzeke7586 That, I disagree. If you're a woman and perform the duty as much as other male soldiers, there's absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be able to serve. But the standard shouldn't be lowered for them.

    I say keep the PT test the same for other MOS but anything infantry or combat related should be at the standards if every other man. If we are letting girls pass at there own standards join the infantry why are we turning away men who fail a PT test by a small margin? If the worst men trainees pass at the same level as women they should still pass.

      That's only a rational argument if PT requirements are measured against physical reality. If they're measured against statistical averages of male bodies, then they're irrelevant for determining the qualifications of a soldier who isn't male. It's like grading on a curve, because it measures the subjective qualities of a person, such as their determination. Doing that is a completely different measurement process as documenting, and then citing environments in physical reality where some empirical quantity of objective Newtons, units of force was the determining factor between the success or failure of a required, or some maximum running velocity was the difference between life and death.
      That might be the case--the numbers are certainly accurate enough to have been sourced from real physical examples. However, it's unethical to force women to compete at the same level as men... without accepting performance enhancing steroids as a legal option, since naturally women live longer than men, and therefor there exists is some physically measurable, empirical amount of anabolic steroid use that when injected into the female body, on average, would put their life expectancy at or around the same of a male's equivalent, and that amount of steroid use will definitely enhance a female body's muscle growth in an objective way, possibly meeting or exceeding the standards used for PT requirements on:
      - Male bodies with
      - naturally higher anabolic steroid presence, and
      - increased health risks which are the only cited counter-argument presented as to why all soldiers aren't juiced up to as high as they can go from day one; it cuts into your retirement days. Isn't that sweet?
      So if female soldiers can meet the physical requirements for male performance by closing the gap with testosterone injections, without lowering their expected lifespan below a male's, then there's no ethical argument against offering artificial strength enhancement therapy. That was never a question.
      The question is, do you want to live in that kind of world? Next up is China genetically enhancing their soldiers--and yes, Chinese doctors know about testosterone injections as well--and beyond that is cybernetic organ-enhancement. I don't know if that's going be limbs or brains first, but honestly it's kinda' looking like it might be chips in your brains, so if you're all going to argue from your chairs about what is or isn't good for the future of humanity, what it is exactly that the troops are fighting for in the youtube comments section, then why don't you tackle the actual issue at hand which is where should the U.S. military branches draw the line when it comes to artificially circumventing the natural limitations imposed on us by our humanity?
      Y'know, Russia tried to splice chimpanzee DNA into humans after getting a hold of Darwin's theory of Evolution. It didn't work out in those experiments, but not because it's impossible. It didn't produce plausible specimens because they didn't know what the hell they were doing, or what kind of molecule DNA was at that time. Now, we know how to do it. So here's the ultimate question, that's going to put you into the same frame of mind that every female soldier has to go through when they want to work with the system in place to serve their country.
      if a chimpanzee can lift more weight than male soldier, then why aren't male soldiers forced to take anabolic steroids and inject chimpanzee DNA into their muscle tissues, until they're as fast and strong as a chimp? If it wasn't forced, would you volunteer for it? It could be the difference between that promotion, or saving your fellow combatants *lives.* Would you be comfortable knowing that you let people _die_ all because you didn't want to become a stronger, faster, (and definitely hairier) super monkey-man? (Sidenote: chimps are apes, not monkeys, the alliteration was for effect.)
      What about if China already has Humanzee soldiers in the field and we don't? That's what the difference in the male and female PT tests is really about. Replace 'male' with 'Roided-out-monkey-man, and 'female' with 'male,' and it's all the exact same arguments over again.

  • @samscott6880
    @samscott6880 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Sorry, but this interview does not convince me on women joining Infantry.
    Firstly her APFT score of 270, a rough guesstimate, puts her at:
    36 pushups in 2 minutes
    72 situps (Feet held) in 2 minutes
    A 1.5 Mile run in 12 minutes.
    10-15 years ago, if you rocked up to Singleton Barracks/School of Infantry (Australia) with those standards, you would be back-squaded immediately.
    I could also mention her personality (Which I won't).

    • @arabellahall9907
      @arabellahall9907 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Sam, just a friendly FYI- the Army APFT consists of 2 minutes of push ups, 2 minutes of sit ups, and a 2 mile run. Only the US Air Force does a 1.5 mile run. Now I’d like to think perhaps this young woman is an outlier from those women who have successfully made into the infantry. My reasoning is this. I am a 3rd year AROTC cadet and our direction is that especially if you are trying to go infantry you must aim above just the bare minimums. So a lot of women in our program have a record or maxing their PT scores- 300 points. My score is a 284, that’s 42 push ups, 72 sit ups, and a 16:30 2 mile. I am on the lower scale- we have a female PT stud who runs a 15:00-15:30 2 mile and consistently gets 300s. Neither of us are looking to branch infantry but we like keeping up the standard. You will find more women than you are open to believing that are like this. Also- everyone has their feet held for sit ups, it’s the standard, fingers have to be interlocked behind the head and a battle buddy holds your feet- male and female alike. Idk why you added it in like it was some sort of special treatment given.
      Also, that was 10-15 years ago man, that’s a long time. It’s 2020 and the Army now how the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test) which there is no separate or “easier” standards for women. Everyone has the same standards- combat MOS have to score higher. So really there’s no reason for guys to be like “ women have it easier etc etc” in this day and age.

    • @samscott6880
      @samscott6880 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@arabellahall9907 I am comparing the fitness standard of these 'G.I Janes' to that of a Rifleman graduating from the Singleton School of Infantry. I have yet to see one who could physically hang with these soldiers. It isn't uncommon to see Rifleman who run sub 8's in the One and Half Mile run and still manage to hull around 130 pounds in a ruck march for hours on straight. I honestly believe allowing women in direct combat roles is a detriment to the capability of our military.

When I was with the 25th ID I would ROUTINLY hump 170 pounds of combat gear through some of the roughest terrain in the United States for up to 12 miles. There is not a woman on the PLANET that could do that. I had a guy in my squad who was 6'11 320 pounds, any time we had wargames the OC's would say he was a casualty in order to see if we could carry him. Also get used to rucking up a mountain in full kit with 70lbs+. Infantry units should be able get up a 6 mile mountain in winter around 3 hours. If they can ruck their weight, the 240, or the 249, and be a valuable member of the Platoon. Then who cares, but that is what's expected of a US army infantry soldier. Is to fill the position of the soldier, who goes down beside them.
    I'm not trying to be unsupportive, but our job is to close with and destroy the enemy. We were expected to advance to a position, fight and or cover a retreat. It's heavy, dirty,6 and physical work. That even men struggle with.

      I kinda agree with this if u can ruck that 240 shoot accurate and keep up with us then fuck it kinda ok ward tho because it seems like everyone is going to be worried about you instead of doing there job because it’s a lil diff when a man goes down as opposed to a female idk when I was in there were no females aloud 2011. What I wanna know is during combatives are the guys going easy on you or are you beating them or what kinda curious about that.

    My thing is that female PT standards, as they are now, do not reflect the kind of physical obstacles infantryman will face down range. The change of the APFT to being MOS specific was greatly needed. For the women who make it through that will indeed gain some respect from me but no matter what kind of test you take, the unforgiving venture that is war is not for women. Also, women have certain attributes that will strain the performance of infantryman. Things like having a period, or needing more hygienic supplies will take massive amounts of time and resources that wont always be available. And achieving a 270 on the current APFT for a woman is not difficult especially not for a man so to refer to that score as "out performing a man" is absolutely absurd but we will see how all that changes once the new PFT is put into place. Anther thing, this guy said he had a score of 244 and raised it to a 260 in a week...I don't think so, unless he wasn't actually putting forth any effort the first time and then actually decided to request to retake of the APFT, record or not, just doesn't sound plausible. In regards to sexual jokes, it is professionally never acceptable but for a man to openly make sexual jokes to a women is literally risking his entire career. A female just accusing the male of any kind of sexual harassment will start an investigation and no matter what happens after that, it will go on his record and limit his progression though the ranks. Its just way too risky and I would personally never go there with a female and risk everything I've worked for so far. And she has only been at her unit for two months. She literally has almost no experience in the army besides basic training. God knows what the drill sergeants had to go through and let us hope her team leader survives. Ultimately, I'm not against women joining the infantry now that the APFT has changed but I haven't interacted with woman in an actual training environment either so it is somewhat of an undetermined opinion. There needs to be a follow-up video on her experience and mindset of women in the infantry, especially after experiencing NTC.

    Another good point is she talks about how long it took for her to get to her first duty station because she suffered a broken pelvis. It is a scientific FACT that women tear ligaments, break bones and have other soft tissue injuries at TWICE the rate as men. Their bodies are not designed to take the physical pounding ours are. So again she is going to be a LIABILITY to any unit she is in from decreased availability, making the men in her unit have to work harder to pick up her slack.

    I think males and females should have the same PT standards. I also think (and yes, I know this is gonna be controversial, but) I also think the military should ease up some of the restrictions and allow people, especially people with disabilities, to join. Certain jobs, like infantry, I get why they want high quality people, physically and mentally, but certain jobs, especially in certain branches, such as being in the band, cook, law, finance, journalism or IT, they’re excluding really high quality candidates.

    • @bradencutright-head6629
      @bradencutright-head6629 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think (and this is coming from someone who’s legally blind themselves) that if someone with disabilities can vote, has to serve on a jury, paid taxes like everyone else, and can perform the duties associated with a certain job wit reasonable accommodations, then they should be able to join. That’s why I’m working on completing (and getting as close to maxing out on) ALL the various branches’ PT tests, and posting the final videos of me doing them online, to show people that yes, someone may be legally blind or have a slight limp, but they could be the next Bill Gates that could be really good with technology and could help win the first cyberwar. It’s 2020, and in my opinion, time for change.

If they let more people join, those people could stay domestic or overseas in non-combat areas and could still be of great use.

    If making the most lethal rifle company is your goal than having an all male squad is what you want, putting a woman in that role is a deterrence to greatness. Think about it, the starting point here is equal opportunity not making the most lethal rifle company, if the first is your goal than you are not interested in winning wars thereby getting Soldiers killed, so shame on the generals who were just interested in keeping their jobs rather than looking out for their men. Look at 54th Massachusetts infantry regiments. It was the first all black Soldier regiment, and they kicked ass. It didn’t take long for people to be like, umm yeah we need more of these kinds of Soldiers. It improved in lethality. The army wasn’t trying to do something nice they saw it added to their lethality. Like the NBA, they saw black people play and they were like well if we are trying to win championships then we need these guys in our squad. No one was going you know what will win us championships? We need to add a female in our team that’s the missing recipe, that’s what’s going to help us beat the other best team in the nation. Ask yourself, and be truthful, if you’re trying to be the most lethal would you have an all man team or not?

    Take a knee and drink some water, I'm going to clarify a ton of information from this video. First and foremost, I'm using this account to remain anonymous. I'm from Cody as well. When she joined, she was the most talked about in the town. However, those who know how she actually is.. well, that's a different story. One memory in particular tickles my fanny. She would always brag about how she can outshoot anyone, yet she never owned, looked at, or even touched a weapon. Everyone knows how a small town is, with that in mind, she was known to sleep with anything and everything. Her physical fitness was horrendous. She was constantly sent to the army weight control program. Years ago, a study was conducted on male/female performance from physical testing, to combat training. Females came nowhere close to performing as well as their male counterpart. Yet Ray mabus made it clear he didn't care of the results, he was dead set on females in combat armed roles. But, I digress. I myself, am a Marine corps veteran, combat engineer. We have been fighting hard for women to be held to the same standards... Ah, I'm digressing again. Right now she's in the process of being separated from the military for being caught on camera for stealing makeup from the px (the store on base) I could sit here all day and point out not only how ignorant her statements are, but go into detail of why she is NOT someone to look up to as an individual. It's a shame she is receiving as much attention as she is, let alone this video still being on TH-cam.

I think if it was me I would strive for the male standard then no one could say shit about it. I don't have a particular problem with women in the infantry other than in that particular job the standards should be the same across the board.
      An experience I had in P.L.D.C. We had a 6.3ft M.P. and a female in my squad. We're on a force march and that damn M.P. would not stop whining, drove me up the wall. I was humping the 60 and she was humping the radio. we would switch out. I'm a short guy sort of stocky, she had a very high pitched voice which I thought was humorous given the situation. She helped me more carrying the extra equipment without complaint than that damn M.P. The whole thing was kinda hilarious to me but it goes to show you the individual makes the difference. its always risky to make across the board pronouncements. Good luck to you.

If your going to promote don't unless you can find a female that can average 75% on male standards and can do 12 miles with 70lbs + in 3 hours also be able to do the spur ride with cav scouts easily. You are proving why females should not be in combat arms plus I heard she stole from the PX which violates a basic army value.

    A few things come to mind seeing this tragic mistake the army has made. One I know there is no way any female would have made it through Benning in 1990. Secondly can you imagine how fast this young lady will be moved up through the ranks, the hearts of the lonely young enlisted she will break and how many senior NCOs will be demoted for sexual harassment charges from her.

    • @TheBenAllen.
      @TheBenAllen.  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Well good thing this isn’t 1990, and if soldiers are having their hearts broken and Senior NCOs are catching cases then they are lacking the discipline and are the problem not the female.

      @@TheBenAllen. It isn't just that dude, a female in a squad is a DISTRACTION, it is BIOLOGY and asking young men not to notice is an act of futility. I made E5 in 2 1/2 years, when I went to PLDC I was the only infantryman in my platoon, the rest were supply, MI, medical, etc. So when it came time for field week, I was in charge all week. I treated the women in my platoon as equals and cut them NO SLACK and the men in my platoon HATED me for it. They were always trying to interfere when one of the women would start boo hoo'ing because they couldn't hack it when it was their turn to carry the M-60 machine gun or the radio. We were on patrol and I had one girl claim she got bit in the face by a centipede, in Hawaii they have huge centipedes that can get six inches long or longer. They bite is incredible painful. I examined her face where she claimed to have been bitten and there was no bite marks, redness or swelling so I knew she was faking it because fatigue had made a coward out of her. I didn't stop the mission, I made her hold onto the back of my LBE as we continued the mission since she claimed she couldn't see. I was trying to set up a perimeter and the guys were leaving their positions to come back to the CP to check on her and generally fawn all over her. I damn near had to kick them in the ass to get them back to their positions. Having women in the infantry is a no win situation for ANYONE.

    There are things in life that are meant to be exclusive and sacred. The kinds of things that justify weren't meant for everyone. Those who make the cut and live the life that comes with it... yeah... we hate it. It pisses us off... it sucks... but at the same time, we like it when stuff sucks. That feeling of accomplishment in knowing that, collectively, you're doing something that breaks most people. The satisfaction is a high in of itself
    But now the infantry... the color blue... now that it's "all for one, one for all"... it's no longer sacred. I'm so glad I did the shit back when it was real and meant something. I think it's all a part of China's agenda to invade and take over the US. It's part of the propaganda campaign that's been going on for some time, and they're using the man-hating fish-smelling feminists to spread this propaganda... that way America will be weak, thus, enabling them to enter with little resistance
    Meanwhile, most males who fall into the single and white demographic... we'll be dead or detained by then for crimes related to being single white men... since it is because of shit that happened 300 years ago that's went unpunished. And because we're the ones who will put upma resistance. And the femmies are using that thinking they're going to be the ones taking over. But they're just patsies... once China makes their entry, you will soon see them lying on the ground next to the guillotine with their heads separated from their necks
