      I think that you are the best available dog trainers I have seen make videos and I've watched a lot of them. I'm just new to finding you and the value of your information is tremendous and I want to thank you.
      Already my puppy has so many good habits because I've done exactly what you said and I've only had her 11 days.

    Wow.
    I watched this nice lady because I have a new puppy and I've never had a puppy in my whole life. And I have found that McCann dog training, seems to be the best dog training videos on TH-cam and I watch TH-cam a lot.
    So when this popped up in my feed and said , "veterinarian reveals truth about dog myths", I thought okay let me just give that a watch.
    My goodness.
    What a treasure this woman is.
    Not only did she answer some really great questions what she said about when to get your dog spayed or neutered was critically important to me.
    I have a female puppy who is 9 weeks old now and she is a Shar-pit mix.
    And her bones are very much still growing and moving.
    I had no idea that Spain or neutering at this young age affected the bones like that.
    I will absolutely take this woman's saged advice and not spay this puppy until she is fully grown so that she will have the healthiest life possible.
    I have another dog who is 15 and she wasn't spayed until she was after 2 years old and it didn't hurt her a bit as a matter of fact I guess it helped.
    I want to thank McCann dog training and this wonderful wonderful veterinarian who absolutely cares about animals for this advice and I'm very very happy that this video showed up for me to watch.
    Thank you from me and my puppy Gracie.
    🥰💯👍

    Oh my goodness, thank you thank you thank you, @McCannDogTraining, for posting this question and answer video with Dr. Paula. I have been searching everywhere for some clarification on how to keep my soon to arrive puppy safe before she is fully vaccinated while also making sure she gets exercise and socialization that is both safe and enriching for her. So helpful to understand the specifics of how to avoid parvo. Also, I so appreciated hearing Dr. Paula share scientifically backed information regarding spaying/neutering a dog once they are full grown. Dr. Paula had a lot of other helpful information to offer. I would love to hear another question and answer video with Dr. Paula. At the moment, I’m very interested in puppy info but I’m also happy to hear general info as my little girl won’t always be a puppy. 😊💕🐶🐾🙏🏾

    Thank you! My husband and I just picked up our mini dachshund puppy yesterday and have been using McCann dogs training videos to prepare us for quite sometime. He only has his first set of shots and is getting the next in 2 days but I couldn’t help but worry about parvo. Despite calling my vets office in advance to ask them, I couldn’t help but still feel worried and this video was just what I needed.

    Back when the rabies shot first came on the market, we were told they lasted from 3-5 years. Magically they now only last a year, and this is without a reported dramatic increase of the actual rabies itself ???

    • @suewise8577
      @suewise8577 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once dogs and cats are adults, most clinics only vaccinate for rabies every 3 years now. And most vets will offer you a rabies titre if you are nervous about getting the vaccine. And there are no dramatic increases of rabies in Canada because most pets are vaccinated for rabies!

    We have wildlife in our backyard. Everything from deer to raccoons to opossums. I imagine avoiding a backyard such as mine would be wise until they are fully vaccinated. We do clean up the droppings, as they are dangerous to humans as well but I still wouldn’t want my puppy out there. We have a 16x26’ dog run, and walks on the sidewalk around the neighborhood are what I’ve always done with my puppies. ETA, so glad there is an effective and safe Leptospirosis vaccine as that’s been my greatest worry.

    Thank you so much for this. I'm shocked by the vets prices, though. Insurance won't cover anything. Why is it $90 for the vet to pet him 30 seconds and go? "How is he feeling?" And another pay for the medicine that "might" help.

    Her advice on spaying conflicts with my vet. My vet recommended spaying no later than 9 months to prevent the first heat cycle. She justified this advice by giving me research papers that indicated prevalence of reproductive cancers is positively correlated to number of heat cycles, so we spayed at 6 months. I’m wondering how to balance this vet’s comments about growth plates and growth maturity with the recommendation of my vet. 🤷‍♀️

    • @amethysthowl1125
      @amethysthowl1125 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've received very conflicting information as well (my vet said it would be safe to neuter my dog at age 6months). My understanding from the current research publications, however, is that it is breed dependent--my dog is a large mixed breed well over 40 lbs so it is best to wait until he is over a year/year and a half before neutering. Golden retrievers, german shepherds, etc. are all at increased risk of cancer & joint issues from getting neutered or spayed prior to a year but small dogs, or particular medium/large sized breeds like labs, do not show this risk factor at all. It's kind of wild. We tried looking up all the studies and also watched multiple vets break down the studies here on youtube which helped our decision-making. Prior to this, we'd planned to neuter him this month!

      Vet care is expensive it’s true! But it’s important to remember that veterinary medicine is private healthcare. The government does not subsidize vet health care. To run a veterinary medical hospital is incredibly expensive…highly trained staff, blood machines, X-ray machines, ultrasounds, autoclaves etc, building expenses including heat, hydro, internet, Shelves of medications and medical equipment that have to be maintained. Like every other business in the world….it has to pay for itself. It doesn’t mean the people working in the industry don’t love your pet and don’t want to help….
