- Halloween is always the best time to talk about the spooky scary monsters that lurk in the night, or day if they choose to do so. The monster we want to highlight this year is the werewolf. Those humanoid wolves, or sometimes normal wolves, that are human by day, and wolf creature by night, or also by day depending on their backstory. To narrow down all the possibilities, we’re just going to look at video games that have featured werewolves since they show up a lot there, both as heroes and villains, or at least common enemies. NegetiveX and Poppa_Goose join me for this one.

Altered Beast looks like madness and I'm all here for it! I liked how wholesome it was when they saved the pigeon.
I played this game when I was a kid and it was fun playing it with my siblings.
It's a great game for a launch title.

Honestly, as a Sonic fan, I was kinda hoping Sonic’s Werehog form would at least make it into the honorable mentions.
Despite being referred to as a were”hog”, this form of the iconic blue blur is unmistakably a werewolf.
He only transforms at night, can run on all fours, has sharp teeth and sharper claws that he uses to attack with, is bigger, stronger, and hairier than his normal form (but ironically slower as well), and in the Wii/PS2 version of Unleashed, he even howls at the very start of a night time stage.
Now, yes, WereSonic also has stretchy arms for some weird reason (due to being infected by the power of Dark Gaia) but some of the other werewolves on the list have some extra non-lycan based abilities as well that helps them stand out from some of the more standard werewolves and the Werehog shouldn’t be an exception to this.
The main thing about the Werehog that I personally like is that it’s basically taking Sonic and changing his type class from Speed to Power, trading his famous supersonic speed for raw, unrestricted brute strength with a feral temper to match; a side of Sonic we rarely, if ever, get to see opposed to his regular laidback and carefree nature.
Plus, the overall design of WereSonic is pretty damn cool, with even Sonic’s memorable red sneakers having been altered to a feral version of themselves.
Yes, yes, the night stages were both super long, had weird platforming, and were sometimes really hard to get through without dying more than twice.
However, for those who love beat’em up’s, getting to play as the Werehog and decimate hoards of enemies with every attack you’ve mastered can be a extremely fun sensation that you just can’t quite get from the daytime stages.
Agreed, was bummed that WereSonic wasn't put on this list as well, and despite what everyone says about the game, Unleashed is still one of my favorite Sonic Games of all time!
I'm glad Unleashed has gotten a lot more respect over the years. I remember it was overly criticized for some of the slower or edgier aspects, but I always thought it was pretty cool. Good pick!

Werewolves are my favorite classic monster, I feel like they don't get enough love in media (mostly because they're rarely a main focus, usually more of a side character or henchman to the villain, as opposed to vampires which are overdone to oblivion...)
The Classic Werewolf has always been an Iconic Monster Concept and has become the Main Staple of the Horror Genre.

There are a few parts where I think you should have increased the contrast or exposure a bit. Such as the Rampage segments. Otherwise, great video, funtime interactions with you and your friends.

For the Castlevania Werewolf, I'm surprised you didn't pick Cornell. Who is both a playable character/main character in a few games but also big boss in lords of shadow if I recall.
Cornell was the main pick for the Castlevania entry. We called him "Lord of Lycans" for the entry, but his official name was Cornell, in reference to the N64 game that starred the werewolf by the same name

Oh yeah, don't forget lunagaron from monster hunter rise: sunbreak he's like a giant blue scaled wolf, and when the moon shines in the sky it shows its true form that he has ice on his spikes, chin, belly, arm, and his claws too but it can stand up in hind legs like a giant ice werewolf.

9:45 yeah the werewolves of the elderscrolls are Hercine’s hunting dogs so yes they would be the ones hunting and they hunt whatever rare prey Hercine brings into his hunting grounds usually driving the prey towards the daedric prince

Don't forget Sonic the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed I really like that Sonic game it's one of my favorite Sonic Videogames and I like playing as Werehog Sonic and it's a welcome change to the usual things Sonic does same as Sonic having a sword in Sonic and The Black Knight and I got into loving Werewolves because of Sonic Unleashed.
I also like The Night Music more than The Day Music.
