Thank you for this. Our neighbors dog Olive is a Finnish Spitz. Her owner was going to re home her because she works 2 jobs and couldn’t spend enough time with her. We said we’d take her but we were concerned that she’d miss her dog. Olive had been with her thru some bad times. So we suggested “joint custody”!😊 Now Olive has a great life. She spends all day at our house barking and hunting and going back and forth between houses. She is an amazingly smart dog. She can hunt mice and voles like a cat. We love her like our own!🐕
I have a male Finnish Spitz, his name is Enzo and he is turning five in December! We have fixed here and we have mistaken a fox for him and him for a fox multiple times. He is literally the loudest dog ever but we still love him. He does have pretty severe separation anxiety, but we have found ways to manage. Other than that, he is an amazing dog and he learns very quickly. Also, I love his tail, it is so fluffy and he is just fluffy and soft. He never lost that puppy soft feeling. Sheds a lot though, you need to brush them a lot!
My Finnish Spitz was the most beautiful, gorgeous furry friend I could have wished for. She was famous and much loved in my town in England as she was so different and special. 💙🇫🇮💙
We rescued our Finnish Spitz from a couple who was backyard breeding and studding him to sell the litters. The previous owners were also evicted from their apartment and left him. Poor guy has horrible separation anxiety, but he is the sweetest, most intelligent dog and is living a much better life for the past 8 years. They're not a very common breed here in the States so we feel extremely fortunate to have him.
Это хорошие собаки,в России их очень много,охотимся с ними,у меня тоже есть.Собаки очень дружелюбные,а на охоте это очень опытные охотники,помогают очень хорошо.
I have been two finnish spitz. They are really loving dogs and can give alot attention to they owners but otherwice need remember it's they are very independent and need they own space and place. Very lojalty to owners and if nessessary they are ready to protect owners even they will died for it.Finnish spitz is"one mans dog".Children friendly and not agressive to a normal situations.Barking not are problem because they are easy training to be quiet if need to. Not good choise to the citydog because they are really energy and need everyday long walkings 3-4times a day.Atleast a 1-1.5hours/a time or something other activity(agility, etc). My dogs live over a 14years without any seriously sickness. Some day i will buy a new finnish spitz because i love that breed.
I rescued a dog from the humane society last year. No one knew what kind of dog he was. He was a loving happy boy, about 1.5 years old. He got some kind of kidney infection after having him from a year and the vets couldn't save him. They hadn't seen an infection like that before. He went quick. I miss him very much. But after looking and looking, I am 90% sure he was a Spitz, if not some kind of Spitz/Retriever mix. Glad I found this breed after this time!
I've one FS male. His name is HAPPY. He is almost a year old an he loves to play, bark at every one, and eat. Resemblance to Wolfe's....he loves to howl too
I hope that nobody buy Finnish Spitz if you not hunting or you got lot of time play whit this dog. These kind dog starting easily barking hard all time if it is not happy... But if it is happy, it is so good dog many way and give so mutch joy for people daily live.
Best hunting dog in the world for the northern Taiga forest... if you want meat on the table, get a Pystykorva. National dog of it's namesake, Finland. But the barking can be frustrating, and this proto-dog has heaps of energy to boot. However, it's truly the best friend for a lone person in the forest, and it can sleep outside in a "kieppi" (finnish word, meaning it wraps it's tail over its nose and face) at minus 30 celcius, no problem. But the barking is a bit of a challenge in civilian life...
We think our two may be finnish spitz mixes. so cute! i'm surprised you said they were 16-31 lbs? Ours are 20, we had heard these were 25-30 lbs. So maybe they are this breed? They are great hunters and protectors of our home.
According to the FCI, the ideal weight should be 20-28 pounds for a female and 25 - 31 pounds for males. But i believe that there are some lighter Finnish Spitzes than that, so i said 16 :) 20 pounds is definitely a normal weight for a Finnish Spitz
