Join us as we celebrate Get-A-Life’s 100th podcast and extend our thanks to Cheryl, Lane, Carman, and Richard for starting a movement that has escalated in an exponential manner that none of us thought possible. It was their idea to create a safe space to have conversations about our experiences with the brethren. It is a credit to the platform that on this 100th podcast, an anonymous insider felt safe enough to join us.
In just under 18 months, the movement has cataloged many harrowing stories and exposed the many malpractices, harm, and detriment caused by the leaders of this cult. The evidence is building through the stories told.
We probe into the history of the Hales dynasty; a story that dates back to the 1960s. We delve into the accumulation of wealth attached to the family and illustrate the contrast between Bruce Hales’ lifestyle and that of the ordinary members of the brethren.
Relating first-hand accounts of interactions with Bruce Hales gives an insight into the character of the man and the ultimate control he has over the brethren.
Where will it end? How much wealth is enough for Bruce? We speculate on the answer to those questions but extend an open invitation to Bruce to join us on a podcast to tell us himself.

Unbelievable wealth.
Theordinary Brethren particularly in UK have no idea how much wealth the RICH brethren have.I knew this in the late fifties /sixties.There was a clear division of wealth.
The Hales Brothers in the 1960's were cowboys- empowered by their robust egos - they treated the Brethren appallingly during the 'System' days - I witnessed it on multiple occasions and remember thinking even as a 10 -14 year old just how wrong it was. The Brethren were ruined and illegitimate in my eyes from those days onward. It was all based on money too even then - and padding the Hales pockets - something that continues in the current day Hales. I don't forgive BDH either for his treatment of people kicked out wrongly and then treated so wrongly after the fact. His handling of the pedophile cases in NZ and Australia was criminal. For the record- all JSH's records were destroyed straight after his death.
Why it has ruled stuff out is a mystery to me..... I meant every word I typed.

Oh I thought the censor had suffered a loss of humour. Now that I’ve simmered down - sometimes the podcast content gets me fired up and I just let fly with well chosen barbs at Brucie which he richly deserves for being a low form of humanity. Maybe I will save it for a while. Like a good wine it will mature with age.

To this very day, power and money in the PBCC are interwuned. Families who werw poor were treated as second class and would never be invoted to special meetungs or gatherings. I know fpr sure my father knew the bible and was an excellent preacher but he would never in his lifetime be invoted to a Levites meeting because he was so-called poor.
The ministers suite, ho yes. That is a carry over from 1970. The local room used for the infamous Aberdeen meetings had a ministers suite which, among other things contained a comfortable armchair, a cabinet containing ample whisky so that “our Paul” would be lubricated sufficiently between meetings. I personally witnessed his angry raving as he demanded to be served booze in the breaks.
As a 10 year old I knew that this was not right, and resented Taylor for his ill treatment of the brothers who were present.
I doubt if much has changed in the ministers suite. One thing it surely does is to prop up the MOG and assure his fragile ego that he’s the one at the top of the steaming pile
