WHY WERE THE SAMARITANS SO HATED?

  • The term 'good Samaritan' is often used to describe someone who helps others, but few actually know who the Samaritans were in the Bible. The Samaritans were a group of people who lived in the region of Israel after the Syrian conquest. They survived until the time of Jesus and still exist in limited numbers today.
The Bible tells several stories about the Samaritans, and hatred between Jews and Samaritans is a recurring issue in the Gospels. To understand the origin of the Samaritans, it is necessary to go back to the Days of the Kings of Israel. After King Solomon ruled the Israelites, his son Rehoboam took reckless actions in the tenth century, which led to corruption and sin in both kingdoms. Despite the warnings of the prophets sent by God, as a result, God announced that they would be conquered by other peoples.
The northern kingdom was worse than the southern kingdom, with a line of wicked rulers. In 722 BC, the northern kingdom of Israel fell to the Assyrians, and many Israelites were taken to Syria as captives. But some remained in the land and married foreigners. These half-Jewish, half-Gentile people became known as Samaritans.
In 586 BC, the southern kingdom of Judah fell to the Babylonian Empire. When the walls of Jerusalem were breached, the temple was destroyed, and the city walls torn down, the first biblical records of the Samaritans are found in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, which date back to the 5th century BC. When the Persian Empire replaced Babylon as a power regional, Nehemiah, a Jew, obtained permission from the Persian King to rebuild Jerusalem. But the local Samaritans objected and created problems for Nehemiah and his work team. Nehemiah made one at 14; This conflict was the beginning of a long period of enmity between the Jews and the Samaritans.
In ancient times, Samaria was the capital of the northern kingdom of Israel. After the fall of Israel, the region of Samaria was located in the center of what used to be the northern kingdom. During Jesus' time, Samaria was between Galilee to the north and Judea to the south. Currently, the region of Samaria is located in the north of the West Bank, where a few hundred Samaritans still live and follow their faith based on the Pentateuch and Mount Gerizim.
Why were the Samaritans so hated in Jesus' time? The Samaritans were widely despised by the Jews due to a number of factors. First, they were considered a mixture of spiritually corrupt Israelites and pagan foreigners who had created a religion that the Jews considered heresy.

*🙏🌟 Once lost in the darkness of homelessness and drugs, I found my way to Jesus, and He illuminated my path. Today, I stand with a home, a loving wife, and a beautiful daughter-an embodiment of the incredible change His love can bring. Grateful for the new identity as a child of God. Hallelujah for His grace!*

I just learned we can give blessings. Numbers 6:24-26
So, May God bless you and all your decendants, all the days of your lives.
May God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” (Psalm 20:4, )
Proverbs 11:25 tells us “Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”
May God bless all those who pray upon him and ask for these blessings. Amen.

When I was in high school I have heard about the good Samaritan story. My teacher did not explain the origin of the Samaritan nor the historic hatred and the untouchability that was practiced by the Jews. After reading the Bible, I became familiar with the history of the Samaritan. Your narration cleared many doubts, particularly the origin of the Samaritan.

I knew some of this, but not all of it.
Something that I've pointed out to people is that when Jesus told His followers that they would be witnesses for Him in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the rest of the world, He was telling us to witness to our enemies.

@statutesofthelord wrong Jesus loved sinners so much that he even died for them/us. Those who are not sick need not a physician but those who are sick.

@@TshepisoMagomaneTshepiso, Hosea 9:15 All their wickedness [is] in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes [are] revolters.
Matthew 4:10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
Matthew 23:33 [Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
We see that Godwon't love some wicked any more, that Jesus told Satan to go away, and that Jesus called the wicked Jewish leaders, "vipers".
Let's read the entire Holy Bible, and learn from and follow it.

@statutesofthelord kind of confused 😕 what is your point exactly
      Elaborate brother/sister.

    • @statutesofthelord
      @statutesofthelord 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@TshepisoMagomaneTshepiso, God loves us so much, that even while we were sinners, he sent Jesus into the world to die for our sins.
However, his love is not unconditional. He doesn't love everybody no matter what they do. While he wants everyone to be saved, he hates sin and sinners, and will eventually burn up all sin and sinners in the Lake of Fire.
Many pastors only focus on]"love", as it is true that "God is love", but we must not forget that God is a consuming fire" too. In other words, we need an all-round picture of God, not just a one-sided one.

Yah! More of this enlightening and inspiring and informative videos! When Nicodemus a Pharisee and a friend of Jesus Christ who asked Pontius Pilate for His body on the Cross to be buried in his personal tomb asked Jesus how can he worship God. He said unless he was born again in Spirit he cannot worship God. Another is when a rich asked Him what more can he do to enter heaven for he has already strictly followed the law of Moses. Our Lord replied ; You should worship God with all your mind with all your soul with all your heart with all your spirit and with all your might! And sell all your possessions and come follow Me! The rich boy downthrodden slowly left the crowd where Jesus is preaching for he has tremendous posession and wealth that he clings to. Then Jesus noticed it and in turn said, You see it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than a rich man enters the Kingdom of Heaven. K

Isaiah 9.14-15, describes the "historical" Israel/summer as the four summer constellations of Leo (noble/royal one), Virgo (palm frond), Libra (reed), and Scorpio (tail). Scorpio is the liar throughout the bible. Judea/spring = Aries thru Cancer, and Samaria/winter = Sagittarius thru Pisces.
Israel, in the bible, has no connection to a historical location on this planet. The actual meaning of Israel is El is the Phallus, like in the Hermes stones found throughout the ancient world. This stone is called "the rock that begat thee," in Deuteronomy 32.18.
This is the same stone that Jacob anoints with oil.

Please allow me to express my feelings truthfully.
I love listening to your excellently presented Bible Stories.
However, I find it so very disturbing listening to the music in the background. Especially when a song I know is playing, I find myself singing the song, losing the gist of the story being told.
Could you please explain to me why you need to have the background music?
It does not make a greater impact to the story being told or narrated. On the contrary.....it distracts, rather than impacts, in my opinion.
I therefore feel I do not wish to listen to the story anymore, because I do not desire for my spirit to be disturbed by this.
Is there any possibility of you removing the background music Please?
Many thanks and may GOD bless you as you continue to present such informative stories, which I appreciate very much. ❤🌷🕆

A good review on the history of the Samaritans. We all have a chance to accept Christ.

The Samaritans were hated because they were the main theological rival of the Hebrews. It is, at least, possible that sections of the Samaritan Torah have important Biblical details that were later changed to fit the political realities resulting from the collapse of the Northern Kingdom and the continuation of the Southern kingdom. Two different groups of people believing nearly the same things, both believing that they were the chosen ones was bound to lead to some hate.
