My grandpa was the best banjo player I’ve ever met. He had the finger picks and multiple high-quality banjos. It was so awesome to listen to him play when I was little.
Roscoe Holcomb, Grandpa Jones, Dave Macon, string bean, Pete Seeger, frank Proffitt and tons of others. Bluegrass is not the only music played on the banjo 🪕
i am a Kentucky native, and i hate to break it to ya feller, there's been a few well-known banjo pickers from these parts, and parts nearby, lol so yain't gonna be the first professional banjo picker. Appalachia birthed bluegrass music, it's a special place! one of a kind
When I first started learning the banjo I was at a complete loss. I’m so glad I kept with it though because it is such a beautiful instrument. My family is from Tennessee so I love doing Appalachian folk music
As a self taught banjo player i can confirm this is 100% accurate, also try nylgut banjo strings they are wayyy easier on the fingers and sound classical
There's actually a lot of pros, banjos and/or mandolins are used in a few Celtic punk bands, and a lot of Irish Trad or Irish folk bands. The Dubliners are The High Kings off the top of my head had banjos
I did this same shit like 10 years ago lmao thought I was gonna be hot shit and do a banjo intro to a thrash metal song and I could NEVER play the sound that I had in my head. That banjo just kinda hangs on the wall to this day. Rarely played lol
You haven’t heard of Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Don Stover, John farmer, Rick Rimen, Sunny Osborne, myself, Doug Dillard, Eddie Hoyle, Don Reno that’s ten and if you don’t count me as a pro than here’s one more Randy Scruggs. And even though Randy did mostly guitar stuff he was a Pro at banjo too.
The second I heard the banjo noise my first thought was “BOSUN BILL WAS KNOW THROUGHOUT THE PORT, A TRULY DREADFUL PIRATE WHO WAS ALWAYS GETTING CAUGHT”
She’s fantastic but clawhammer style kinda limits her ability in my opinion EDIT: brainfart, I somehow thought you were talking about Abigail Washburn. Was a long day haha
@@canadianguitarguru sorry I had a complete brainfart, I was recently watching a bunch of videos with him and Abigail Washburn and just got done playing for Playing for hours so I somehow my brain thought you were talking about her lol - your correct tho, he is absolutely the best in the world in my opinion, on the technical playing side of things - I have few others that I really just like their style tho but that personal preference
Steve Martin is the only professional banjo player i've heard of. he learned it because he thought it was the funniest instrument, and he's world class at it
My dad and his brothers have played banjo for almost their whole lives since they were in their teens to now, 50/s and 60s. I grew up hearing it all the time and it can be beautiful and annoying at times but always such an interesting instrument
As someone who literally GREW UP in West Virginia. This made me laugh. The hot topic thing. 😂 I'm about to take up Banjo myself. Want to get more connected to my Appalacian roots. Since I live out west now.
Look up Bill Monroe Ricky scaggs and Lamb of God for all your west Virginia banjo needs but honestly banjo is actually a really versatile instrument I've used them in thrash songs I've written before and the Celtic sound goes hand in hand with that
hello! i just wanted to tell you thta Jesus loves you so much! we are born sinful and Jesus died for us so we could have eternal life!!! and all we have to do is repent of our sins, beleive that Jesus really did die, and rose from the dead, and ask Him to come into our hearts!! beacouse if we dont get saved, we will spend eternity in hell. but i love you and everyone in this world and i want you and everyone to go to Heaven with me!!! hope you a great day! i love you and so does Jesus!!!
That there is an open back banjo which is usually used in oldtime rather than bluegrass. You should learn a bit of clawhammer. I’d recommend little sadie since the tuning makes it really easy
As for someone who has been playing classical and electric gitar ever cince 2022 Xmas and 16 year old I shall give you tips... To any string players, sometimes a little of super glue, the one that doesn't burn your skin, may help until you get callouses, so the string doesn't hurt as much the pads of your fingers, just make sure to don't glue your fingers to anything
That part where he was searching for a tutorial and bored of the guy talking about himself but me:bruh can you please get straight to the point.Super relatable i see every Toturial do this maybe

The expression watching music tutorials is so spot on
Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs both banjo professionals
Earl was the one who played for them
Don't forget bela fleck

Rhiannan Giddens, Roy Clark, mf uuuuh... idk the list goes on tho.
J.D Crowe. One of, if not the best five string banjo pickers to ever touch the instrument.
